RETAIL PACKAGING (1ST GEN.) The 1st generation retail package design was inspired by book displays. The packaging needed to be visually pleasing while conveying the appropriate information to ensure a consumer was able to quickly understand the different variations and product features. Each of the 99 variations had unique visual elements to their packaging artwork. These elements, placed on the spine of the packaging, provided pertinent product information regarding the products metal ďŹ nish and wood or abalone inlay and allowed retailers to optimize shelf space.

RETAIL PACKAGING (2ND GEN.)

The 2nd generation retail package was designed to improve the user experience, shelf appeal and reduce its overall weight. These factors beneďŹ ted both our direct and wholesale business model. The design consisted of three parts, each made of polycarbonate. The idea was to have two compartments, one which served to protect the product and the other to house the added accessories and user guide. This design provided the ability to store and protect the product in a compact, lightweight, travel-friendly case. Dan Cornish 18

CELEBRITY GIFT BOX The Celebrity Gift Box’s premium design was inspired by cigar boxes. The design incorporated a ip-top lid and two sliding drawers to store and organize the fourteen fretpads that are included with every capo. The box itself is made of high-end, soft touch laminate and included a hidden magnetic latch.

THALIA WOODEN GUITAR PICKS The Thalia Exotic Wood Picks were designed to improve string tone and eliminate the pick noise produced when strumming with plastic picks. Handmade wooden guitar picks have been around for centuries, which provided the desired tones, but were unable to provide the flex and playability benefits of plastic picks. The Thalia Wooden Guitar Pick’s technology met both requirements. This was achieved by slicing micro-thin layers of wood and bonding them back together with the woodgrain in a crosshatch pattern. The result was a very thin, flexible and durable wood pick with a warm tone that sounded better with each use.

Picks are made of Santos Rosewood and were designed in two different thicknesses. 0.9mm picks are made with 2 layers of wood and 1.4mm picks are made with 3 layers of wood.

The product was designed to utilize a laser cutter in order to allow multiple pick shapes, etch branding and thickness specs directly on the pick.

The Pick Pack Booklets were designed to allow the picks to snap into recess openings, creating a fun user experience while displaying the picks in an unique manner. Each package is constructed of scratch resistant laminate and utilizes a magnetic latch. An integrated strip of sandpaper allows the user to easily shape the pick’s beveled edge.

POINT OF SALE DISPLAYS To accompany the Thalia products in the retail setting, a unique Zebrawood point of sale display was designed for each of the product lines.

The Demo Capo Display was designed for the retail setting and provided a platform for consumers to quickly become familiar with the Thalia Capo. The infographic card is protected by a removable piece of acrylic. This feature allowed retailers to easily swap out the card, which is useful when custom graphics are desired or the POS is displayed in non-English speaking countries.

The Tuning Kit packaging follows the design language of the other products in Thalia’s brand. This was accomplished by utilizing high-end soft touch laminate and a magnetic latch. Inspiration was derived from a deck of playing cards.
