Colours I decided to use the existing colour scheme for the logos. I felt that it worked well for the company and I wanted to bring at least one element of the existing brand forward into my designs. I have designed the logos using these colours, the ‘climate change project’ logo and the ‘safe & sustainable mobility project’ logo both use two of the colours whereas the ‘emerging leadership project’ logo utilises all three colours. The use of the same colours links the designs together. For the ICCYL logo redesign I have used all three colours with transparencies. Although the logos have been designed to primarily be set in these colours I feel they also work when set in one colour. This will allow the logos to be used effectively across a wide range of products.


As you can see the use of this shape is repeated throughout each logo design. After speaking with Pedro Scarpinelli and doing some of my own research on ICCYL I concluded that although each conference provides different skill sets, they all also offer three things; transferable skills, language skills and moral values. Thus the use of a triangle, each side of the shape symbolizes one of these things. I initially started working with a triangle with straight edges but I felt that this shape was more pleasing aesthetically and the soft curves make the logos look much less corporate. This shape brings all of the logo designs together and links the branding of ICCYL.


The idea behind this logo is fairly self explanatory. It is intended to show a road going into the distance and then coming back on itself. This conveys ideas of sustainability and transport.

I struggled to come up with an idea for the climate change logo. I think it is difficult to avoid stereotypical imagery with this topic but I feel this is a good resolution. The intersecting lines are meant to be longitude and latitude lines similar to those you would see on a globe. The wavy line where the two colours meet is intended to show sea levels rising.


The leadership logo incorporates a couple of different ideas. The arrows show direction, a key skill of an effective leader. The two smaller arrows are following the larger one, again conveying the idea of leadership. If you flip the icon upside down (shown to the right) the shapes look as if they are emerging from one another. Some variations of this logo are shown below.
