I spent 20 years travelling to the furthest corners of the world. I created new job opportunities and co-operation between countries from the Far East to the deepest Africa. However, I lived the interactions with foreign parties in a traditional manner; being used to see the client only as a recipient of the service provided by me and my partners. For the first time a few month ago, I realized that the time was right to turn this balance around: the client could become the entity with which to create a direct relationship. This intuition, along with the valuable support of the Institutions and local consultants, led to the Amina Group project.

Amina Consulting was born in Milan in 2015 as a support group of design and consulting to the activities of Amina Overseas spa. In particular, Farid Tarawneh as Amina Overseas legal rapresentative, deals with coordinating the Amina Group Partners and interfaces with local institution after considerating the real opportunity of cooperation and work in various countries. The Studio Next firm, along with Maria Vittoria Magno (Engineering), David Sgalippa (Interaction Design), Paolo Mantero (Spaceplannig Offices) and Jacopo Acciaro (Light Design), is responsible for the architectural project, starting from the study of the enviroment up to the integration of specialized design. The engineering company, Tekna Ingegneria spa, takes over the work during the transition from architectural to executive layout. In the construction phase, the Amina Group takes advantage of two well-established companies’ experience: Lithos and Exa. The first, Lithos spa, is specialized in recovery and restoration work. The Exa Group is known for a wide range of achivements from retail spaces to hotellerie.

Project management, Quantity and Cost control; Detailed and Construction design for structures and installations, Firefighting project and safety coordination plan

Architectural Design: Lissoni Associati Project for the restoration of the historic wing: Enrico and Luca Villani Energy approach: Cundall

The redevelopment of the Hotel Billia aimed at rationally reorganizing the distribution of the internal spaces and creating a new and contemporary image to the well-known hotel in Saint Vincent. The design team achieved a sophisticated result through a stylish interior design, focused primarily on the areas of the convention center and on the new wing, together with a sensible restoration of the external facades of the historical building. The historical building have been ‘cleaned’ and freed up from all those superfetation that are a result of the long history of the complex and ended up disturbing the outlook of the main elevation. The modern wing has been refurbished using a contemporary architectural language and clean geometries to locate and introduce new functions and spaces, where once only rooms were located there’s now new opportunities to host different types of use. Every room, 115, have been provided with new fullsize windows, changing the overall formal impression of the building. Today the hotel reflects more organically the internal functions. The design of the convention center follows a new concept that focus on a stronger relation between the internal spaces, the exterior areas and the park. The main idea is to create a ‘transparent’ space where the borders between inside and outside are more fluid; creating a continuous connection between the building and the surrounding environment. The landscape design focused on reducing the impact on the existing environment, maintaining as much as possible the pre-existing specimens and respecting the current conditions of the park. The parking areas and all the plant rooms have been redesigned and relocated to reduce the esthetic impact and to allow for a higher efficiency.

A villa in Mesagne nearby the city of Brindisi in the heart of the Apulian countryside. The project has been focused on the delicate balance between tradition and innovation, classic and modern. For this reason it was based on stylistic research that operates between modernism and suggestions from Mediterranean tradition. The mixture of old and new, past and present can become the utopia of an innovative yet reassuring interior design.

The Procuratie Vecchie is a long building that someone compares to an horizontal skyscraper; approximately 3,000 square meters built in Istrian stone restored in 24 months in St. Mark’s square in Venice, one of the most frequently visited sites in the world. The restoration site had been divided into four lots; due to the place’s usability they could not been consequent but for alterning batches. This meant for the team that they needed to find solutions to achieve the same level of cleaning in each lot, since visual comparison was not possible, and to calibrate the various operations according to the different seasons. Two of the lots have been completed during the winter period and the others in the summer. The team worked on each batch starting from an accurate state of conservation’s map, at the same time as static control, physical and chemical analyzes. The calibration sampling campaign has been carried out with respect to the season as the different temperatures of the season influence the biological activity and therefore the effectiveness of cleaning. This requested a great adaptation effort to all the operators and the presence as well as a continuous dialogue with the project manager and the Sovrintendenza dei beni archeologici del Veneto. This activity of transformation from the design to the practical phase was long and complex, sometimes even conflicting, surely the co-operation was intense and fruitful.

Masterplan (in team with SSF - Sistema Sviluppo Fiera); specific plans for mobility, landscaping and utilities

Architectural supervision: Arch. Massimiliano Fuksas

The former “Neca site in Pavia is an area of about 80.000 square meters, located in a semi-central position within the city and very close to the railway station; it was occupied by an industrial plant which is dismantled nowadays. The property is owned by ISAN, a company under control of FBML (Fund of Monte di Lombardia Bank). The project aims to allow the reconversion, development and valorization of the site, coherently with the urban context and accordingly to the assumptions of the general city plan and of the agreements between private developer and Public Administration. The goal of the intervention is contributing to the social and economic development of the territory. The guidelines are defined as follows: - to enhance the area, that is today cause of fracture and decay; - to realize an intervention with high quality and very representative for the city; - to achieve, through dialogue with the city and its institutions, an intervention that is functional to the needs of the community, in order to understand and meet the expectations related to the transformation; - to use as much as possible the most qualified local resources. The project elaborated by Tekne (in association with Fiera Milano, entrusted by ISAN) is directed to the approval of a Plan for an integrated intervention (PII) and provides for a mix of functions, including residential, hotels, offices and retail. A second version of the Masterplan has been elaborated with the support (architectural advice) of the architect Massimiliano Fuksas.
