(1935-2017) Brother Louis Ernst, also known as “Bro Lou” to many, passed away on September 23, a week away from his 82nd birthday. He was a devoted Marianist brother and a staunch cheerleader for many. Many students remember greeting him every morning on their way to class with a joyful and cheerful smile on his face. He loved attending the sport events, music recitals, and plays because he loved being around the students and talking to them. Besides his great devotion to the students, Brother Ernst was highly committed to the Marianist faith, as he believed it was a calling from God for him to do so. He truly believed that was his vocation, and did it exceptionally well. Even though Brother Ernst’s presence around campus will be greatly missed, his memory will continue living by the St. Mary’s community. Source from St. Mary’s University Office of Mission
