ULTIMATE HOBBYIST TOOL semi-automatic router

LAGURO | TOOLTIME 2020
TASK PROJECT TOOLTIME 2020 The task was to design an electrical tool for the hobbyist of the year 2020.
It should be a search for innovative product concepts or new interpretations of the electrical tool. Form and function play as big of a role as do ergonomics and materiality. Sustainability, ecological and social, should also be considered. Under certain circumstances, digital interfaces or interconnection could be implemented.

HOW CAN A TOOL REVOLUTIONIZE CRAFTING?
It has to be a combination of handcrafting and automated precision. LAGURO is a manually operated, self-adjusting router, directed to the maker-community and hobbyists.
CORE IDEA
The core idea behind BOSCH LAGURO is to enable the hobbyist of 2020 the possibility to do highly precise milling work effortlessly. The name LAGURO derives from “LAser GUided ROuter”. And fits into the current BOSCH hobby product line consisting of BOSCH IXO and BOSCH UNEO.

RESEARCHING FOR NEEDS The results of my research:
People want to be in control of motion People want to get constant feedback They want to have most accuracy and precision At the same time it should be a fun experience
The tool must not be...
...fully automated ...complicated to use

BĂ…S | BATHROOM CONCEPT
FROM BATH TO SPA - TRENDS & VISIONS Social structure changes and a change in needs have lead to the bathroom not only being purely used as a functional space, but also a room to relax and feel good. Nowadays, the bathroom is not seen as a separate room, but is considered in the design and layout of bedrooms which sometimes flow into each other and merge into a single unit. The bathroom now serves us as a haven or as a source of refreshment.
IN THE FIELD RESEARCH
During the course of our Concept phase, we researched and analysed many trends about newer and modern living environments and life styles. Apart from the obvious, ever growing population of wealthy and educated people, we stumbled upon newer and much more complex sub-groups of society. We felt that it was our responsibility to plan and design a concept to support and strengthen the lifestyles of the newer, trendier groups of society.
24
BĂ…S | BATHROOM CONCEPT
SHIFT TO OPEN LIVING ENVIRONMENT Living environments in urban areas are changing to be more open and free.
Floor plans seemingly get more structured and focused. Trends are showing a clear shift to big rooms and less walls and other barriers.

BÅS | BATHROOM CONCEPT
HOW CAN WE COMBINE MODULARITY AND NATURE IN THE BATHROOM?
BÅS eliminates the need of in-wall installations and provides an expandable room concept with infinite possibilities. The concept is meant to be a flexible, smart and ecological solution for the bathroom of the future home. A modular system that allows the user to create a personalised and individualised atmosphere.
BĂ…S | BATHROOM CONCEPT
MOODS AND INSPIRATIONS Look deep into nature, then you will understand everything better.
Inspiration for our concept and core idea were found mostly in nature and in modern living environments. The decision to create something that was simple in concept and still emotionally powerful was built on the foundation of nature.

SKETCHES & IDEAS
Leaf forms and waves were inspirational for the design of the BÅS elements. Great effort went into the form developement for the faucet. A new way of interaction was created with the innovative touch control surface.

IMPLEMENTATION
BÅS was not only created for use in modern lofts and open appartments but also for the implementation in newly built houses and appartments. The system behind BÅS was also conceived to be “countersunk” and used throughout the living quarters. This would allow for kitchen plumbing and cableing to be run beneath the surface aswell and would grant further innovation in modular kitchen systems.

APERIO SMART KINETIC LIGHT lighting design competition entry august 2014

APERIO | LIGHTING
APERIO was designed with the problem in mind that interior lights are often switched on unnecessarily, or left on unintentionally. To counteract this energy dissipation I drew the decisive inspiration from nature: Flowers react to sunshine and open their petals when it gets bright. What if our interior lighting would respond to the brightness of the room and, mirrorinverted to flowers, would open when the room gets darker and close itself when the room is bright enough? This question was the main inspiration behind APERIO.

APERIO | LIGHTING
APERIO draws its technical package from filmanimatronics. There, puppets are controlled with the help of bowden cables and linkages. In some extent the same method is used in medical prostheses. Two electrical motors control the movement of the bowden cables, running through the inside of APERIO.
The individually controlable LED modules are mounted onto aluminium parts. The LED cover plate is made of transparent silicone rubber. The soft cover on the outside consist of an elastic, aluminized polyester fabric. Brightness sensors measure the ambient light and, dependent on this information, control the position of the “Fingers“ as well as the brightness of the LEDs.

REDBULL SPACE RACER
2077: We find ourselves on a moon presumably near planet mars. The lunar landscape consists mostly of water and beautiful islands. The gravity is only 1/3rd of earth’s. RedBull created a new extrem sport here, which is a mixture between air-races and highspeed motorboat races.
TASK
Design a water/aeroplane which follows the given regulations and conditions.
