Professional Skateboarder Interviewed by Mariya Dondonyan and Darshna Patel
Rolling into the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising Spencer Nuzzi is a professional skateboarder who has toured with Tony Hawk. Nuzzi not only has an eye for marketing, but also wants to further his career on the business side of skating. With his lively personality, Nuzzi shares his extreme love for skateboarding.

There was another ramp that connected over the pool along with other obstacles, which made it hard not to get drenched! I wasn’t a fan of the wet clothes and shoes at the end of the day.
FM: You knew skateboarding was your passion from a young age.
FM: There are stereotypes about skateboarders, like you have to be a punk or act a certain way. What are your feelings towards this?
SN: Ha! I think the skateboard stereotype is really spot-on. This is one of the most judgmental industries I know. This doesn’t mean that every skateboarder is a punk but in the last couple of years the “skateboard trend” has been accepted.

FM: Do you find that you need to balance your life with other

Year after year I would learn a little more about how buyers and retail companies work. At the time I wasn’t paying attention, I just wanted to skate. Now I’m ready to take all the great things FIDM has to offer to help
me, it was definitely to learn how to manage my time wisely.
FM: Do you think your teachers will treat you differently because you’re a professional athlete?
SN: I hope not because I know there is an extraordinary amount of students with both hidden and exposed talents much more impressive than my talents.
FM: What else about you do you think people will be surprised to learn?
