CHAIRS OF SENATE DIVISIONS AND COMMITTEES: Re: Systemwide Review of the Report of the Academic Council’s Standardized Testing Task Force (STTF) Dear Colleagues, The UC Academic Senate, at President Napolitano’s request, has been conducting an examination of undergraduate admissions to the University of California, in accordance with its delegated authority over admissions. The Academic Council’s Standardized Testing Task Force (STTF) has been meeting over the past year to carry out the work of offering policy recommendations on this complex issue. I am pleased to forward for systemwide Academic Senate review the attached STTF report and recommendations. Please submit comments to the Academic Senate office at SenateReview@ucop.edu by March 23, 2020 to allow us to compile and summarize comments for the Academic Council’s April 1 meeting. As always, any committee that considers these matters outside its jurisdiction or charge may decline to comment. I think you will agree that the report offers a thorough, critical, and empirically based picture of the role of standardized testing in UC admissions. We expect the systemwide review to be thoughtful and robust. Based on your feedback, we intend to issue a final set of policy recommendations to the Assembly of the Academic Senate in April 2020, and then to President Napolitano for transmittal to the Regents. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have additional questions. Sincerely,

Kum-Kum Bhavnani, Chair Academic Council cc:
