The symbol and name constitute a single inseparable unit. Clear space around the logotype is essential to ensure that it is not crowded or overshadowed by any other items. The clear space ensures that the visual impact of the logotype is maximized. The minimum clear space is defined by the width of the ”E” character in the ECATS name.

Color system
The ECATS color system ECATS uses four different profile colors plus black and white. Only these colors are permitted when there is a need for color. The colors may be applied in full 100 % saturation or in different even percentages of saturation. When the colors are used in other contexts than our graphic elements, they must have 100 % saturation. Exceptions are charts, graphs, and tables where other percentages may be applied. The color result may vary depending on printer, paper, screen, projector, etc.

Typography
Main typeface
Meta
ECATS uses two main typefaces: Meta for headlines, captions, fact boxes, and shorter texts; and Adobe Garamond for body copy. Meta and Adobe Garamond must always be used for information and profile material. In other contexts, these typefaces should be used whenever possible.

For office administration matters and in cases where communications are produced for internal use, replacement typefaces may be applied. Arial is used for headlines, captions, fact boxes, and shorter texts, Times New Roman for body copy.
Graphic elements
Graphic elements By using common graphic elements, we will create a uniform appearance and recognition. The ECATS graphic elements can be used as panels behind items of text or alongside photographs, which are always positioned to the left of the graphic element. The photographs are designed specifically for each element. These elements and photographs can be downloaded from the ECATS image bank. More good examples can be found at: http://www.ecats-network.eu/wp
Charts and tables
Charts and tables Charts and tables should always use ECATS profile colors and pale gray shadows. In order to emphasize a certain section you can show it slightly pulled out from the surrounding parts.

Images
Images Images are important parts of an organization’s communications and must be treated the same way as other elements of the graphic profile. Images convey both information and feelings and can complement and reinforce messages. It is therefore important that what is conveyed by the images is consistent with ECATS’ profile. Images must have a clean and environmentally friendly feel and preferably include the colors green and blue.
