To assist you with getting on with your day, this book will allow you to cure your hangover and be productive. With daring Old Wives tales to put an end to that headache, this guide offers exciting and interesting food and drinks to ensure you and your flat mates get off on the right start.

A HANGOVER IN A BOTTLE


haitIAn voodoo bottle: A Haitian myth has it that turning the cork of the hangover-causing-bottle into a voodoo doll and sticking 13 pins in it will keep the hangover at bay.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED: 1. 13 Black Pins 2. The Bottle


WHAT YOU WILL NEED: 1. 300ml Chilled Milk 2. 1 Fresh Banana, Chopped 3. 1 Tbsp Double Cream 4. 1 Tbsp Clear Honey 5. Ice 6. Blender

WHAT TO DO: Simply prepare all ingredients as stated and place them all together in the blender. Blitz until completely blended. Serve Chilled.


BANANa MILKSHAKE: Sara Snow once said that, banana milkshakes refuel an aching body after a long night out. The potent combination is high in Vitamin B, which is severely depleted from overindulgence. It is said to rapidly replace electrolytes and potassium; soothing the stomach.

A Rabbit

WHAT YOU WILL NEED: 1. Copious amounts of Rabbit droppings 2. Hot Water 3. Tea Stewer 4. Empty Tea Bags

WHAT TO DO: As you would wiith any other tea, simply stew the tea until the desired strength, or stew in an empty tea bag to taste.


Poop

Rabbit poop tea: Legend has it that out on the range, in the Old West, Cowboys used to get rid of their hangover by steeping rabbit droppings in hot water, making Rabbit Poop Tea.


WHAT TO DO: 1. Fill a tall glass with Ice. 2. Add Alcohol, followed by the cream. 3. Using a cocktail shaker, shake until well mixed together. 3. Strain over another glass filled with ice. 4. Serve and Enjoy.


BUFFALO MILK: This Namibian hangover cure is a cocktail of clotted cream, dark rum, cream liqueur, spiced rum and whole cream. Like all wives tales, no one is certain if this cures your hangover or simply makes you drunk again. WHAT YOU WILL NEED: 1. Ice 2. Clotted Cream 3. 25ml Dark Rum 4. 25ml Spiced Rum 4. 25ml Cream Liqueur

WHAT YOU WILL NEED: 1. 2 Cans of Tomato Juice 2. 2 Shots of Vodka 3. 1/2 Lime, Juiced 4. 1 tsp Tabasco 5. 1 tsp Horseradish 6. 1 tsp Worcester Sauce 7. 1/4 tsp Celery Salt 8. 1/2 tsp Black Pepper 9. 1 Lime, to Garnish 10. Celery Stalks

WHAT TO DO: As you would any other cocktail, place all ingredients in a glass filled with ice. Shake with a cocktail shaker, until well mixed together. Pour over ice, and enjoy.


BLOODY MARY: Sometimes the best way to get rid of a hangover is to party on into the next day. This is nothing new and in the United States the Bloody Mary is the hair-of-the-dog choice.The sometimes spicy tomato cocktail was invented in the 1920s. The Bloody Mary is thought to get its name from Queen Mary, who was noted for her bloody repression of religious dissenters. The drink is thought to have been invented at the New York bar in Paris. The bar was a popular hangout for American expats - including Ernest Hemingway.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED: 1. 1 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar 2. 1 tbsp Bicarbonate of Soda 3. 1/2 Glass of Water

WHAT TO DO: Stir all ingredients together well and enjoy cold.


DETOX:

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR AND BICARBONATE OF SODA Old Wives swear by a good old fashioned detox the morning after the night before.Bi-carb will help replace any electrolytes you are missing due to dehydration from too much booze. Bi-carb is also alkaline and will help neutralize excessive acid that alcohol tends to make your stomach produce. Apple cider vinegar, it is believed, will help the liver dissolve poisonous matters, like too much alcohol. It also balances the pH levels and tops up any deficiency in minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium and iron, which your hungover system is probably crying out for.

WHAT TO DO: Simply place all ingredients into a glass, stir well, garnish if desried and drink.


DETOX: BLACKWOODS A well-known celebrity detox that is sure to perk you up for the day! Cayenne pepper, believe it or not, is a natural pain reliever. Lemons are an excellent source of Vitamin C which helps reduce the negative effects of toxins and helps remove them from the body. Your energy needs boosting and honey, will do this for you; because its glucose content is absorbed very quickly into the body. Honey is also known to keep blood sugar levels fairly constant which is what you need after last night's party. And to top it all, honey also contains fructose which is reputed to speed up the oxidation of alcohol by the liver. Magic.


WHAT TO DO: WHAT YOU WILL NEED: 1. 1 Fresh Egg 2. 3 dashes Maggi Jugo or Worcester Sauce 3. 1 Pinch of Salt 4. 2 Dashes of Tabasco

Crack the egg into a glass, raw. Place all other ingredients on top in no particular order. Take down with one gulp.


PRARIE OYSTER: One bartender from Baja California, Mexico, swears by something called a Prairie Oyster, a cocktail of raw egg, Worcestershire sauce, and Tabasco that sounds more like a dare than a remedy, However it's said to do the trick!



Food:


WHAT YOU WILL NEED: 1. As many canaries as you desire 2. Oil; enough to cover the canaries when frying. 3. 1 Pinch of Salt 4. 1 Pinch of Black Pepper


deep fried canaries: According to Urban Legends, deep fried canaries were the hangover cure of choice for the Ancient Romans. On days that they devoured too much wine, they turned to eating fried birds. They were mainly served to the upper class, who required something 'different'.

WHAT TO DO: Simply deep fry the canaries in oil, until cooked. Add seasoning to taste.


WHAT YOU WILL NEED: 1. French Fries 2. Gravy, or other sauce 3. Cheese, or Cheese Curds

Poutine

WHAT TO DO: Prepare all ingredients and layer as displayed below.


Po u t i n e ; or fries: According to Zane Lamprey from the show Three Sheets, in Whistler Canada after a big night out everyone heads to Zogs Dogs for poutine or fries with cheese curds and gravy. If you fancy something a little different, try experimenting with sauces! You can get poutine with chili sauce or even spaghetti meat sauce.



“Early to bed, early to rise”


WHAT YOU WILL NEED: 1. 1 English Muffin, toasted 2. 2 slices of Ham/Bacon 3. 1 Egg 4. Pinch Salt 5. Pinch Black Pepper 6. Fresh Parsley 7. Hollandaise Sauce

WHAT TO DO: 1. Toast Muffin 2. Cut ham/bacon inhalf and layer over muffin 3. Poach egg, and place on the meat 4. Heat hollandaise sauce and pour over the poached egg.


eggs benedict: An old school favorite that originated in New York City, according to the Guardian. In 1894, New York socialite Samuel Benedict invented the quintessential morning after meal while recovering from a big night out. He then asked the Waldorf Astoria hotel staff to whip him up his own creation, now known as Eggs Benedict.

WHAT TO DO: 1. Cut the herring into two pieces, and fill with cucumber and onion. 2. Roll the herring over it's contents and secure with a wooden stick, or toothpick.

katerfruhstuck: Katerfr端hst端ck means hangover breakfast in German. One of the most traditional hangover breakfasts in Germany consists of a delicacy called rollmops: pickled herring wrapped around pickled cucumber and onion. The high volumes of salt in the pickled ingredients is to encourage a high intake of fluids to rebalance electrolytes.


WHAT YOU WILL NEED: 1. Beef, Diced 2. Salt 3. 1 Onion, Chopped 4. 4 Tbsp Soy Sauce 5. 1 Egg, Boiled & Sliced 6. Noodles 7. Parsley 8. Black Pepper 9. Pan of Water

WHAT TO DO: In a large saute the meat, onion and onion for 5 minutes. Stir in the parsley, ground black pepper, water and egg noodles. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes.


BEEF NOODLE BROTH: It's said that a popular Asian dish; broth containing beef, noodles, egg and broth (Yak-a-mein) is the best thing to eat after a night out as the ingredients counteract excessive alcohol intake. Eggs contain cysteine, an ingredient which can help remove acetyldehyde from the body which causes the dreaded hangover. Vitamin B1 found in meat can prevent the build up of glutarate which is linked to headaches. And a salty broth can help replace potassium and sodium lost through urine as alcohol is a diuretic. Its thought the dish became popular in the 1950s when US soldiers stationed in Korea found noodle soup effective in curing hangovers and sung its praises when they returned home.
