What is DRP-JOINT?
What is DRP-JOINT? Dual Ring Press Joint (DRP-JOINT) is a collective term that includes SRJOINT, AB-JOINT, SM-JOINT, CS-JOINT, CP-JOINT, and CN-JOINT, which are differentiated by materials used to make their metal rings. DRP-JOINT uses 360째 circular pressing method to compress two rings, which consist of rubber ring and metal ring. The outstanding performance of the circular pressing method has been proven through tensile test and pressure-proof test, leading DRP-JOINT to be used in building, ship, drill ship and generation plan constructions and other fields for several years. Having been used in building construction sector for more than 20 years, and for over 8 years in the vessel sector starting from the first Aegis Destroyer of Korean Navy, DRPJOINT has received high recognition from customers. SR-JOINT is the trademark of Seowon Aust PtyLtd. 2

CHARACTERISTICS
DRP JOINT CHARACTERISTICS
1. Environment-friendly Products • Instead of welding, which has negative impact on the environment, DRP-JOINT uses an environmental-friendly pressing tool for installation.
2. Hygienic Products • DRP-JOINT uses the same stainless material used in food and medical equipments, and therefore it is the most hygienic product.
3. Installation • Installation does not require experienced workers. It takes 20 seconds or less to press 1 point (based on 25A).
4. Wide Range of Choices • Fittings are available in various sizes, including large size (100A).
5. Robustness • Circular pressing of metal ring allows DRP-JOINT to maintain the same pressure even after 360° rotation.
6. Safe from Vibration and Ground Subsidence • DRP-JOINT successfully passed two-million vibration tests. It also pass ed 22.28° bending test, which means that it is safe to bend the joint up t o 22.28°, according to Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (K ATS). 7

INSTALLATION GUIDE A. General Instruction 1) Pipe and Fitting (DRP-SR) ① Cover the pipe with vinyl sheet to prevent dust and foreign substance from piling on the surface of pipe or going into the pipe. ② Part that touches dissimilar metal (especially steel pipe, cast iron pipe and other products made with iron) must be insulated. ③ All ends of the fitting should be covered with Protective Cap during storage to prevent foreign substance from going into the pipe. 2) Pressing Tool ① Do not control the cylinder pump pressure (400kg/㎠) arbitrarily. ② Rust on the pressing jaw must be removed before use to prevent possible corrosion and abnormal pressing. Pressing tool must be maintained properly. ③ Keep pressing tool clean after each use and spray anti-rust additive on the jaw to prevent rust. ④ If pressing is not done in circular shape, stop pressing and contact our A/S team to check the tool and replace it when necessary. ⑤ When using cylinder pump, check the oil gauge whether oil is enough and open the air valve around halfway to flow in air before pressing.

B. Cutting Pipe 1) How to Use Stainless Steel Pipe Cutting Machine ① Only use a machine made exclusively for cutting stainless steel pipe. If a wheel cutter is the only option, you must use cutting blade made exclusively for cutting stainless material and then remove burr. ② You must mark the insertion depth before cutting the pipe. ③ Cut the pipe vertically. 2) Trimming & Removing Burr ① Trim inside and outside of the cut surface to make the surface smooth and remove burr completely to prevent rubber ring damage and detachment when inserting the pipe. C. Pipe Installation 1) Cleaning Connecting Part (the part where pipe and joint overlap): Remove oil, iron dust and other foreign substance from connecting part 2) Marking Insertion Depth and Insertion ① Mark insertion depth on the outside of the pipe according to the Insertion Depth Chart (see below). Then insert. [Insertion Depth Chart] STANDARD SIZE

② When inserting the pipe into the fitting, make sure the pipe is horizontally align with the fitting in order to prevent rubber ring from detachment. ③ When insertion does not go smoothly, use drinking water or vegetable-based detergent. 3) Tool ① Check to make sure that the pipe is inserted to the marked insertion depth. ② When using DRP tool, manufacturer of product and tool must be same. ③ Before pressing, make sure that dual rings of joint perfectly fit pressing jaw and also check to ensure the pipe and pressing jaw are in 90 degree. After checking, start pressing. 31

E. Hydraulic Test 1) Conduct test with pressure specified in drawings and specifications or with pressure of 2.5MPa. If there is no specific regulation, test with pressure that is 2~3 times of pressure normally used. 2) Use drinking water when you test. If drinking water is not available, use purified water to prevent pipe corrosion. 3) After test, completely drain water to prevent corrosion due to foreign substance.

HOW TO USE DRP SR-JOINT TOOLS Pipe Cutting ① W hen you cut the pipe, a proper cutter must be used. ② Using a rotary cutter or an exclusive cutter is less likely to form burr.
Rotary cutter (15A~100A)
Exclusive cutter (15A-100A)
③ The burr that may be formed either side of the pipe should be removed. Internal foreign objects should be removed as well.
Pipe Inserting ① Mark on the pipe so as to get enough depth of insertion. ② Pipe mus t be inserted into Joint linearly. ③ If insertion doesn't go on smoothly, soap bubbles may help.
Marking the line
Insert horizontal
※ When you insert the pipe, you must be careful not to get damaged.
Press by Gun ① Check the sizes of proper JAW and JOINT ② Fit the groove of tool and mound of joint, and press joint using exclusive tool.
Contract JAW and JOINT
Pressing the JOINT
③ Press the button (red point) and wait until the pusher is automatically back
Verification ① Disassemble after compression.
jig pass (right)
jig not pass (wrong)
② Confirm the joint by using a vernier caliper or checking jig. If the jig is passed smoothly or diameter measured by vernier caliper i s same in manual, joint installation is compl ete.

IMPORTANT NOTES
IMPORTANT NOTES 1. When Using a Pressing Tool a. Ensure foreign substance, such as soil and sand, does not go into the operating part of the tool. b. Fit the jaw and cylinder correctly and insert all types of pin all the way. c. Protect the tool from shock and do not attempt to disassemble the tool arbitrarily. d. Power tools should get regular inspection every six months.
2. When Using a Pump a. Screw off the oil cap about two rounds. b. Replace hydraulic oil every three months. (Do not use nonstandard hydraulic oil) c. Do not control pressure control valve arbitrarily. (Abnormal pressing can cause leakage.) d. After you press ON button, wait until you hear a clicking sound, which indicates that pressing is complete. Do not press OFF button repeatedly while you wait for the clicking sound. (It can cause malfunction).
3. When Using a Rechargeable Gun a. Battery life can be shortened when the gun is used at a temperature below 0°C. b. After pressing, charge the battery immediately when red LED lamp flickers consistently. c. If the red LED light flickers three times and warning alarm rings three times at the same time, send the gun to a A/S centre immediately. d. After about 50 times of pressing, stop using the gun and cool it down for 15 minutes. e. Lubricate locking pin and roller regularly with a small amount of oil. (Example: WD50). f.
You can extend the battery life by charging the battery frequently, instead of doing full charge or full discharge.
g. Do not disassemble the battery from the gun arbitrarily. It can cause the battery to explode when the battery’s safety and protective device gets damaged.

IMPORTANT NOTES
IMPORTANT NOTES 4. When Conducting Hydraulic Test (Leakage Test) a. Test must be done using drinking water. b. After the test, completely remove the water from the pipe. If water contaminated with foreign substance and dust caused during pipe installation remains inside the pipe, it can result in pipe corrosion. If water remains, it can also lead to freezing and bursting during winter time. c. Make sure that lagging material does not get wet. W hen the hydraulic test is done on the part where lagging material is used, corrosion can happen when lagging material is wet. d. Flush water out sufficiently after the pipe installation. e. Flush contaminated water out sufficiently with drinking water and discharge water completely. Microbially Induced Corrosion (MIC) Quality of water is an important factor when it comes to pipe corrosion. Groundwater is a good environment for microorganisms to grow and multiply. Use of groundwater for hydraulic test and incomplete drainage after testing have frequently caused Microbial Induced Corrosion (MIC). When groundwater is the only available option, make sure to avoid Microbial Induced Corrosion.
5. When Using Groundwater a. Water treatment: Conduct water quality test in advance. W hen the test result shows that the water quality does not meet the standard, perform proper chemical treatment. Additional care is needed during the time of high temperature and humidity (from May to August) due to increased possibility of MIC. b. Draining and flushing: Water must be completely drained as soon as possible after hydraulic test. It is also crucial to perform sufficient flushing using drinking water.
