PROJECT BRIEF + CONCEPT The concept for this language centre located in Newfoundland, is inspired in combination of all colors: represented in the white canvas and have pop of colors throughout the space in order to be attractive and interactive. The overall structure draws its shape from a nucleus and it trasenced to a vertical shape showing three of the main directions: stages, evolution, and multi-dimensional. For the spatial concept, the idea is to do spaces that can be used for different purposes and can be enjoyed by the softnes of their curves. For spaces to incite curiosity and therefore learning throughout all levels, regardless of the age of the visitor. With the aim of creating a centre point for community, that they can visit, get inspired by, and learn. A space that reminds them of their heritage, that reflects the picturesque landscape of their surroundings, with a modern intake.

PROJECT BRIEF The aim for this design project is for it to represent the core values of the store, and that through architectural elements and layers of raw materials create a space that constantly attracts people not only due to the merchandise, but for the interior ambiance too. The concept of the store embodying a coastal and organic lifestyle would target a wide sector of Vancouverites making the store successful.
CONCEPT Portray the brand’s values and ethical beliefs, through the incorporation of design elements that go in accordance to their organic approach to the design.
02
The concept would revolve around the shape of the rise and set of the sun. The sun acting as a symbol of awakening in the everyday life, and remarking its importance as main source of life which “brings the best light in everyone.” The shape of the sun would be incorporated in the architectural elements of the space as well as in the details. Always embracing details over adornment.

PROJECT BRIEF
CONCEPT
The Brittany and Josh are originally from Utah, US and they are in their early 30’s. They moved to Vancouver 6 years ago to persue Josh’s profession in photography, and due to their love for nature and temperate climate. The couple’s interest vary from hiking, climbing, snowboarding, cooking together, watchig tv series, and painting from time to time. Now, with their son Dan of 18 months, and a baby girl on the way, they just bought their own home on Vancouver Island and want to adapt it to their particular lifestyle necessities along with their design taste in mind. They hope to be able to continue growing their family, and have their parents visit them for long periods of time, so they need a spacious place to accommodate their growing family and relatives.
The idea for the design concept for the Finch family, is to bring natire into the house, so they do not necessarily need to go out to experience it. The design exploration started with the deconstuction of lines in nature and their intersection intersection. Taking inspiration from the very characteristic Vancouver Island landscape, where different clusters of trees create lines that can be simplified as diagonals intersecting. From this idea, the concept is taken in order to suit the client’s request to bring in nature, and to have a very strong arquitectural element. The concept is to redifine how the beams of a modern farm house are put together, and how it can create a statement in the house. The proposed design intent is to have the beams that cross diagonally either on the ceiling, as a see-through display that you can observe from the second floor, and even in the position of the hardwood flooring, and system furniture.

Values & Brand Identity Canadian company founded in Vancouver in 1998, Lululemon Athletica is a technical apparel company that encourages physical movement through different disciplines such as running, weight training, but mostly known for yoga. They revolve their brand identity around the culture shared as a community, that seeks to inspire great conversations and a safe place where everyone learns from one another.
Lighting Design The Robson store displays 3 different layers of lighting throughout the store, to add emphasis to certain areas, but also as a design feature that characterizes their stores. A base layer of downlights are complemented by pendants, and cove lighting for extra luminance. Circular pendants also float throughout the ceiling to add more light sources (as they are bigger) in main spaces such as aisles in the store.
04 CORPORATE DESIGN LULULEMON DESIGN OFFICE 24
Ceiling Design The store features a mega-structure that is repeated in the ceiling design 3 to 4 times. It consists of a spiral that originates from the center of a circumference, and it is later expanded until it outlines the silhouette of the brand’s famous logo. By this, they reinforce the brand experience represented with a design feature in their Robson store that is memorable for the customer (even if they do not see it right away).
