DeclarationsofFaithAccordingtoPsalm91

Greetings!

We are at the tail end of the pandemic. In many places now wearing a mask is optional. These are still challenging times ahead. The term 'normal' has been redefined.

How we go through tough times is based on our perspective. With that being said, let me give you the perspective that although things are not the way we would want them to be at the moment, we are still around to experience the moment.

Let's stay encouraged, connected, and Psalm 91 equipped as we go through these new and interesting times.

PSALM 91:

I DECLARE I will dwell in the shelter of the Most High God.

I DECLARE I will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

I DECLARE that God is my Refuge and my Fortress.

I DECLARE that you are my God (Hallelujah) in whom I trust and with great confidence and whom I will rely.

I DECLARE that God will rescue me from every trap and protect me from every disease.

I DECLARE I am covered and protected by His outstretched arms.

I DECLARE that God's faithful promises are my armor and my protection.

I DECLARE I will not be afraid of the terrors of the night nor of the arrows that fly in the day.

I DECLARE I will not dread any disease that stalks in the darkness nor any disaster that strikes at midday.

I DECLARE that because God is my Refuge and the Almighty the God of my home no evil can befall me and no plague can come near my dwelling.

I DECLARE that God has ordered His angels to guard, defend and protect me and my house.

I DECLARE that God's armies of Heaven will keep me from falling. I will walk unharmed and kick anything that's evil from my path.

I DECLARE that because of God's love for me, I'll call on Him. He'll set me above all my troubles. He will deliver me from all my fears and He will honor me with His presence and power.

I DECLARE He will reward me with long life and He will show me His Salvation.

**The above declarations are an excerpt of the message, 'Confessions and Bringing Order to Your Life', from Dr. Creflo Dollar, Jr., Founder and Senior Pastor of World Changers Church International (WCCI) in College Park, Georgia**

These Fitness Trends Will Rule in 2023

We're getting out of our living rooms and back into lifting heavy weights.

It can be difficult to decipher which fitness trends are here to stay, and which will pass in the time it takes to get through a video on TikTok.

In the ever-changing world that is the fitness industry, you would be hard pressed to predict exactly what’s around the corner to being the next big thing, especially at the reset point that is the New Year. Will at-home spin still be in? What about CrossFit or newer competitions like Hyrox? Will people still shell out major cash for advanced, next-gen recovery modalities like pro athletes?

To shed some light on what's next, we asked a handful of Men’s Health fitness advisors and expert trainers to tell us what they think the top fitness trends we be in 2023. You might not believe it now, but you'll probably find yourself sweating like this later this year.

Gyms Will Be the Focus for Communities

People are sick of the 10-pound dumbbells in their living rooms and the at-home workouts While bodyweight and light-equipment workouts had their time, exercisers who haven't rejoined gyms are itching to be back to the grind.

“We're seeing that consistently there's another person showing up who you haven't seen [in] a gym in over two years,” says Mike Boyle, strength coach and Men’s Health fitness advisor.

Micro-gyms, as Boyle calls them, will also make a comeback. Small places, strategically equipped with turf, sleds, and tires that offer group fitness classes will see more and more popularity.

People are ready to embrace the community aspect of fitness, says David Jack, fitness coach and Men’s Health fitness advisor

Gyms that emphasize community, and “really establish themselves again as a place for people to feel like they're part of something,” will find success in 2023, says Jack

As the 10 pound dumbbells are pushed further into the closet, gym guides will be replacing the YouTube follow-along workouts that had us buy them in the first place, says Charlee Atkins, C.S.C.S., founder of Le Sweat TV. “People learned and mastered the basic lifts during at-home workout training and are ready to take their knowledge to the next level,” says Atkins. Think old school workout PDFs, detailing form cues and rep ranges.

The at-home experience may be minimized, but it won’t die down completely. Jack believes the online-only coaching industry will attempt to stay afloat with new hybrid plans. “I think we're gonna see a lot of new very creative digital offerings,” says Jack, blending at-home and in-gym workouts together. People still appreciate the convenience of home workouts, while still wanting to get into the gym.

Training Efficient Will Be the Goal

For lots of people, the focus on gym workouts will come with a time crunch. Even if some aspects of home workouts have lost their luster, you can’t deny the benefit of the five second commute.

With that in mind, trainers are becoming more efficient with the way they’re programming for their clients, says Alwyn Cosgrove, fitness coach and Men’s Health fitness advisor.

Trainers are getting to know their clients daily routines better to make their limited time together more productive just like a doctor might ask a patient for their medical history and other questions to provide more context.

Barbara Chase-Riboud

Many of you may recall the novel about Sally Hemmings. The award winning book was written more than thirty-five years ago and indeed it was controversial. Its author, Barbara ChaseRiboud, an African American artist, novelist and poet, alluded that Hemings (1773-1835) an enslaved woman at Monticello lived openly in Paris with Thomas Jefferson and that she (one quarter European ancestry) may have produced at least six children with the widowed Jefferson----all while working as a nursemaid and caregiver to his youngest daughter.

Initially, Chase-Riboud was heralded by the literary public and her book became a best seller--- selling over two million copies worldwide. Moreover, the author had been encouraged by her editor (Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis) to write the book but later she was defamed by numerous distractors in the ultra-conservative and fallacious racial environment of the U.S in the early 1980’s. The author was accused of being dishonest, amateurish and incompetent-- those were the milder defamations. It was difficult for some to believe that one of the great founding fathers had committed such an act However, Chase- Riboud was later proven to be on the right side of the DNA that supported her theories.

A more recent book by Chase-Riboud, I Always Knew: A Memoir, is popular in art circles as well as with the general public. The unusual work is mainly composed of letters that she wrote (over several decades) to her mother back home in Philadelphia---while she lived abroad and met some of the most distinguished and visionary individuals on the continent. Chase-Riboud has resided in France for several decades --- initially as a student, then as professional artist living with her first husband, Marc Riboud----the acclaimed photographer and the father of her two sons. She later married the art publisher, Sergio Tosi.

Lastly, the 83 year old Chase Riboud, who earned degrees in art at Tyler and Yale, currently has a major exhibition of her sculptures in the US-- Barbara Chase-Riboud: Monumentale: The Bronzes at the Pulitzer Arts Foundation.
