We are all really excited about varsity! It's our last game of the season and for some of us it's our last ever university game so we want to go out with a bang! We have been training and prepping hard over the last few weeks and we are looking really sharp and raring to go. The girls have all come so far since the start of the season and I'm excited to see what they all have to offer during this game. This is a huge honour and privilege to be selected for this game, especially for the freshers who are yet to experience playing in varsity. We hope that a combination of our skill and determination will bring back a win for #TeamGlos. We are ready, Worcester watch out we're coming for you!

#4RTHUR Varsity has always been a highlight within the rugby calendar at the University of Gloucestershire. The amount effort that goes in to making Varsity a success is incredible and that credit has to go to the players and the committee within UGRFC. Selection for this year’s Varsity Squad has been so tough that Myself and Downsey have had a few sleepless nights. The players have been in camp for 9 weeks and they have worked so hard throughout the prep and it will all come down to the 80 minutes tonight. Varsity is an occasion that any Dave Ba Chris D player will never forget for ownes rley - Ba Forward cks the rest of their playing days s and it will be something that will be talked about for years to come. Away from Varsity, its been another hugely successful season for Men’s Rugby. The 1xv pushed well in their division and were unlucky not to be promoted. The 2xv progressed well from a slow start and missed out on promotion by the smallest of margins. The biggest success of the season was the reintroduction of a 3xv, who played and trained well and played a large part in the retention of members at the beginning of the year. Training numbers have been consistently high this year with 40-50 boys training on a regular basis and we will look to improve on these numbers again next year! Who knows we might even sneak a 4xv next year if the fresher intake is a bumper one! Off the pitch the development and integration of the club within the University has progressed again and the money raised for our chosen charities has once again been incredible. Men’s Rugby continually work hard to improve the culture and reputation and all this year’s members can hold their heads high with the behavioural standards they have set. Dave & Downsey, 2016

#TeamGlos Mr Hugh’s rapeseed oil is a family run business based in Norfolk that produces cold pressed rapeseed oil in various different flavours, ideal for cooking and baking. At the age of 22, Hugh continued the family tradition and took over the running of the farm from his father, Maurice. The Norfolk based farm now consists of 5,000 acres of land within a 40 mile radius. As well as rapeseed, the farm also grows wheat and sugar beet. Not only do they offer an extensive range of product but it is also extremely good for your health, low in saturated fat and high in vitamin E and Omega-3, an essential fatty acid our bodies need. Mr Hugh’s rapeseed oil is the newly found primary sponsor of the University of Gloucestershire Men’s Rugby Union and has helped the club tremendously over the past year and a half. Without this sponsor the club would be in a very different place, so on behalf of everyone involved with UGRFC on and off the pitch, we extend a huge thank you to Hugh Mason for making this seasons success possible. Mr Hugh’s has kindly sponsored this year’s playing kit for both the season and for today’s event, and I am sure that you will all agree, the boys are looking incredibly smart in their newly purchased kit. www.mrhughs.co.uk

MIACS Moth in a China Shop (MIACS) is a partner sponsor that is affiliated with Mr Hugh’s oil. MIACS is a charity that seeks to provide knowledge of sports and health where it is lacking, as well as provide rehabilitation equipment for those who have sports injuries and do not have the equipment needed at their disposal. The charity was set up by Hugh and is run by his partner Jackie. Here at the University of Gloucestershire’s men’s rugby union club we hold this charity close to our hearts and with extremely high regard as it is in memory of our dear friend and Hugh’s loved son Arthur Mason. If you look at the Gloucester playing kit today you will see both the logo for MIACS and 4RTHUR on their shirts. To show our gratitude and in an attempt to give back to the irreplaceable kindness of Hugh and his family, this year the UGRFC boys will be biking to Norfolk from Cheltenham in order to raise money for the MIACS charity. This is a 160 mile trip and we already have upwards of 80 individuals keen to partake, of all shapes, sizes, ages and capabilities. There are donation buckets going around the crowd today so any donations that you may contribute is hugely appreciated by both UGRFC and the Mason family. www.mothinachinashop.co.uk

UoGRFC would like to extend their gratitude to these three UoG Undergraduate Sports Therapist who took good care of the boys throughout their preperations for today.

Lead by Callum Ross, Katie & Joe have given up their time to assist with rehab and treatment, within their limits, both at training and in some cases at home. Lets hope they dont have too much work on the field today!

Firstly I would like to say a big thank you for everyone for coming tonight to the culmination of the 2016 Varsity between Worcester and Gloucester. As a squad we have trained incredibly hard in the lead up to this huge occasion and I would like to mention how proud I am of every member of the UWSRFC squad and coaching staff, both past and present. The squad features players from all three years at University so for some it is the last game in a Worcester rugby jersey, so big performances are expected from all. Hope you enjoy what promises to be a great game.
