Harvard, Cambridge MA 3rd Year, Spring 2016 Drama Center for the Arts Meliti Dikeos Revit Rhino Photoshop
The Loeb Drama center is located near Harvard Square. With an aging facility designed in the 1950’s, the objective for this project was to build a new addition to the existing theatre space. The new addition was heavily impacted by the surrounding context within the conceptual phase. The sites location saw the building being approached more often by the Cambridge city center. Due to this, the form of the building was designed to activate the circulation and create an interaction between theatre and the outside environment. Exposing movement while creating a clear path within the interior became the catalyst to achieve these goals.

The form allows for the building to have interaction with the sidewalk and road that pass by. The main entrance is pushed out while the building slopes up to emphasize a large multiuse dance room. This form sits on top of the old theatre.

Photoshop
This six week endeavour was meant to be an exercise to create a well thought out facade design that could give depth to a building elevation. The design consists of a panel system that runs along a tray-like structure. The panels can have different forms and materiality depending on the locations, context, or region. The program that this system is applied to is a business park in Malden, MA.

West Roxbury, MA
This location in West Roxbury is home to a deep jazz history that carries on today. This project focuses on giving this history a place to reveal itself while also providing a venue for festivals and markets. Utilizing tactical urbanism in a way to allow these things to happen on one street was the challenge.
The solution was to transform the street with a non-permanent installation that used its typology to allow multiple uses at once. Through the site forces that impact the street and the direction of potential users the orientation of the materiality and the tectonics of the system were established. Davenport St.

PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE HELIOS DESIGN GROUP LOCATION | WORKFLOW |
Jamaica Plain, Boston MA Revit Photoshop
As an upscale residential firm, Helios gave me the opportunity to work on many stages of the design process. From building entire Revit models and renderings, to on-site walkthroughs, I gained experience in many different levels of the design build process.

40 Hillside
Having a wide variety of operations, I was responsible for smaller tasks like designing bathroom and kitchen layouts while also being responsible for updating construction documents. I also did the final render production for this residence.
Progression Interior Renderings
As projects develop and changes arise, I would produce quick progression interior visualization for clients. This allowed them to be very involved in the design process and would allow them to quickly understand spatial qualities of the proposals.

Turtle Swamp Brewery
Located in Jamaica Plain, this micro brewery was the firm’s first brewery project. A two story facility that took the place of an old auto repair center. I did several renderings for the project within a four day span for a series of investment meetings.

SYSTEM 7 DESIGN LOCATION | WORKFLOW |
Danvers, Boston MA AutoCAD Illustrator
System 7 specializes in designing lighting, audio, and shade layouts for automation control. I predominately edited and produced construction documents sets for use in the field. I was also responsible for redesigning their booklet graphics for their product manual. This book pertained to shade details and saw use as a reference in the field for installation and marketing purposes.

PHOTOGRAPHY LOCATION | Porto, Portugal Photography has been a way to express the narratives of places I have traveled to around the world. The art of photography has been long intertwined with architecture and I try to capture that through my frame. This picture exposes the beautiful color range and density of Porto.

ANIMATION WORKFLOW |
Maya
After Effects
During my fourth year I was introduced to Maya as a tool to animate projects. Utilizing Rhino, Grasshopper, and Maya I continue to animate various forms and have paired these techniques with fabrication studies. This particular animation is the stacking of form morphing chairs and stools. Full animations are on my website: www.danschroedl.sqaurespace.com
