Daniel Turner is a transportation planner with Parsons Brinkerhoff. Daniel has a Masters degree in City and Regional Planning (MCRP) from Rutgers University’s Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy with a concentration in transportation. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Northeastern University and has worked in local politics in the Boston area. In addition to experience working in politics, Daniel has worked as a project assistant at the Voorhees Transportation Center working with Together North Jersey to help create a Regional Plan For Sustainable Development in the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority region. This portfolio displays a variety of Daniel's achievements in the urban design field from his time in academia and in the professional environment. Urban design concerns not only the aesthetic but the more tangible aspects of urban living that public policy typically attempts to address. This portfolio represents these various aspects of urban design through visuals and written summary.

The train station pop-up tour took the approach of going to where people are already gathering to target riders traveling along the NEC. Throughout April and May, 2013, a portable information booth was set up at 16 stations using traditional print media, along with technology. FRA’s social media accounts were regularly updated throughout the tour. This initiative reached over 12,000 riders.

Resource Agency Engagement
A unique partnership was established with the White House Council on Environmental Quality to help avoid the delays often found in complex, multi-state transportation projects. This pilot approach engaged resource and regulatory agencies early in the environmental review and assessment process. These relationships have continued with ongoing agency coordination.
