WHAT about the the choices that impact local community, economy, and environment.
a part of the movement.
WHY
3
Money spent in local businesses stays in Syracuse and provides jobs and creates stronger community connections.
I explored what factors people took into account while making spending decisions. I asked around and the top three reasons that people choose to shop at larger vendors is because of convenience, availability of product, and their assumption of lower prices. These reasons, along with other factors, are what can veer people from shopping local.

USER TESTING: PROBLEMS After attempting to open bottles with my initial design, I encountered several problems: There wasn’t enough surface area for the user to grip onto, which made opening bottles painful. The wedge was too small and could not properly grasp the bottle cap for a clean opening. The edges were too sharp and was not ergonomically formed to a user’s grip. I decided to utilize the negative space within the form to incorporate the proper structure of a bottle opener. I rounded the corners and also recessed the parts on the form where the fingers would go. The wedge would be incorporated within the structure and have more stability.
