The beginning of a habit is like an invisible thread, but every time we repeat the act, we strengthen the strand, add to it another filament until it becomes a great cable that binds us irrevocably, in thought and act. Orison Swett Marden

How the Business Goal Tracker will accelerate your teams performance Individual and Team Accountability
Development and Tracking of Business Goals
Individual and team accountability can only be undertaken if there are clear goals and expectations set throughout an organisation. In order for this to occur, businesses need to be clear and why they exist, what they do, how they do it, what the future looks like and how are they going to get it there. To avoid these scenarios, plans need to be simple and integrated into everything a business does.
This business tracker provides you a method to bring down your long-term plans to actionable tasks that allow you to meet your goals and drive company culture to well considered action orientation. Actions are described as 90-day goals that you are going to break down into weekly and daily habits to help you achieve them.
Daily Structure The development of your daily structure is critical as this will ensure you remain aligned to your daily priorities and will guarantee greater productivity throughout your day, week, month and quarter. Your daily structure promotes planning and preparation therefore offering a clear pathway and target for what needs to be achieved over a specific time-frame.

Business Templates The templates provided in your Business Goal Tracker will ensure you have alignment and consistency for all activities. The structure of your day, week, personal organisational habits and business meetings will significantly benefit the business by increasing productivity therefore generating growth and opportunity.
01. Individual and team accountability Individual and team accountability can only be undertaken if there are clear goals and expectations set throughout an organisation.
The Entrepreneurial Operating SystemÂŽ provides a method for developing a simple and proven process to deliver to the entire organisation a usable and regularly referenced two-page document to facilitate the development of goals. This document is referred to as a Vision / Traction Organiser (VTO). It is available within this book as a template for your use.
In order for this to occur businesses need to be clear and why they exist, what they do, how they do it, what does the future look like and how are they going to get it there. Some of you may have experienced planning processes previously and developed great plans that never seemed to be followed. This is because the plans are too complex or there is no buy in by the leadership team. To avoid these scenarios, plans need to be simple and integrated into everything a business does. Simplicity is important to allow ease of communication through a number of channels and the road to its execution becomes clear. The buy in of the leadership team can be developed by engendering a sense of ownership but also holding them to account through the development of specific goals to meet the vision of the organisation.

02. Daily Structure Efficient time management blends itself to a supportive daily structure increasing your productivity and efficiency across the day. Your preparation should commence the day prior to ensure you have a clear and defined set of priorities for the following day. Your Top 3 priorities are your ‘ROCKS’ and should be scheduled during periods of the day with no distraction. Lower level tasks that need to be completed in order to fulfil your role should have a specific allocation time as part of your daily structure. The Business Goal Tracker provides structure and a consistent daily approach that develops personal and business rhythm. Research confirms that for every minute of planning you do will save approx. 10 minutes over the course of the day. For a typical working day, this can equate to an additional 2 hours of increased productivity. This daily journal will therefore not only permit you to isolate your daily priorities and provide daily structure, but also increase your productivity.

Self-discipline: The overall success of The Business Goal Tracker will ultimately come down to your self-discipline and your capacity to develop a daily habit to include entries each morning and each afternoon. By establishing clarity for your end goal, you can then establish the required plan and supportive daily habits and priorities to complete the tasks in full, 100% of the time.
The commitment of just 10 minutes each morning and 5 – 10 minutes each afternoon will completely transform your time management and ability to focus on the key tasks at hand lending to the successful completion of your 90 day goals.
03. Development and tracking of business goals Every year, it is estimated that 15% of businesses will exit the market and in their first three years and 60% of new businesses will fail. What is it that separates those that succeed and those that fail? Approximately 50% of companies fail because of poor strategic management.
Your ‘rocks’ are your 90-day goals that you are going to break down into weekly and daily habits to help you achieve them.
There is one principle that you, as a leader within your organisation, can immediately implement to avoid becoming part of poor statistical outcomes. As Benjamin Franklin famously said “failing to plan is planning to fail”. It is in that light that this business tracker provides you a method to bring down your long-term plans to actionable tasks that allow you to meet your goals and drive company culture to well considered action orientation.
Rocks The term ‘rocks’ was developed by Stephen Covey and was designed to get people to focus on the things that matter rather than be distracted by less important tasks that impede achieving those things that will make a significant difference to your work and life. The concept of rocks was taken even further by Gino Wickman in his endeavours to develop the Entrepreneurial Operating System®. In this scenario and now your ‘rocks’ are your 90-day goals that you are going to break down into weekly and daily habits to help you achieve them.

Time management 1. Plan every day in advance Establishing great time management is all in the planning. For every minute you spend planning, you can save you up to 10 minutes in the execution of your tasks. At the end of each day, spend 10 minutes writing down your key tasks and priorities in The 90 Day Business Goal Tracker for the following day. This way, your subconscious can go to work during the night and will help you to structure your highest priority tasks for the following day.
2. Have complete CLARITY on your priorities Effective Time Management is about managing your time and not letting time manage you! These 5 steps will greatly assist you in your time management for each day.
Once you have noted down your key priorities, use the 1, 2, 3 method to have absolute clarity on what your Top 3 priorities are. List your No. 1 priority in your 90 Day Tracker and make a commitment to commence on it immediately without distractions for a minimum of 60 minutes. Think of your No.1 priority as being the one task that if you were heading off for 4 weeks that you must get completed. What task will have the largest impact for you and your workplace? You need to be very conscious of making better decisions about your time.
3. Allocate ‘PRIORITY’ work time during the day By using the tracker, you develop an ‘action plan’ in advance of your day commencing that will allow you to manage your time much more efficiently and effectively. Schedule block off periods in the morning and/or afternoon that permit you to focus solely on your prioritisation task/s. It could be that the hours of 9.30am – 11.00am and 1.30 – 2.45pm are your priority task times and you block these off in your calendar.

You could consider turning your phone onto ‘Aeroplane Mode’ to stop calls and notifications during this period and turn the volume down on your computer. It may be that you allocate a time from 8.30 – 9.15am to check and action your emails first thing and do the same from 2.45pm – 4.00pm later in the day. You must make a personal commitment to focus on your priorities as this will allow you to get so much more completed and avoid the low-level activities.
4. Significantly reduce the lower-value activities in your day like emails The volume of emails we receive on a daily basis is significant. You therefore need to limit or avoid the distractions that impact your productivity. Be clear that you only have an allocated time for emails therefore become an expert at prioritisation of your inbox.
A helpful method is the DELETE, ACTION, FLICK, FILE response to emails and this is to be done during your allocated timeslot in the day. DELETE - If the email isn’t of VALUE then DELETE it.
respond. Sometimes emails may only require 10 seconds to action therefore respond to those promptly then either FILE or DELETE it from your primary inbox. If you have a high volume of these email, ensure you priortise your most important ones first. FLICK - Can any of your emails be delegated for action by someone else?
A C T I O N
FILE – Create a filing system in your email inbox. This system allows you to move emails to folders for future reference, clear up your inbox and allow you to prioritise emails very early.
5. REPEAT – Develop a strong a robust schedule that can be repeated daily. You must make a conscious effort every day to implement a robust time management system that will enable you to manage your time and priority tasks efficiently. You must take responsibility for your working day because if you don’t someone else will. We all have 1,440 minutes in the day and what you do with those minutes will ultimately dictate the success you have at achieving your main goals and priorities.
F L I C K
ACTION - Prioritise the importance of your emails and the time it will take to
