Kick-start your career

Our two-year Graduate Programme is a great way to kick-start your career. It gives you the opportunity to build your professional experience and develop the skills you’ll need to become a future leader, project manager – or to fill a role that may not yet exist in one of our business units.

Join Danish Crown’s Graduate Programme The two-year Graduate Programme is packed with skills-building activities and on-the-job learning. You will develop your leadership and project management skills, gain insight into international business, and learn how to become a good communicator. And you will not only be working out of Denmark; you will also travel to one of our

divisions abroad, where you’ll become part of a local team. The programme will give you hands-on experience of what it’s like to work in an international organisation that has a complex value chain and work with a broad range of stakeholders – from farmers to food producers and consumers.

On-the-job learning abroad As part of the programme, you will go abroad for eight months and work at one of our business units. Being exposed to a different culture and ways of doing business will broaden your perspective and give you a sense of what it’s like to work in an international business environment. You will also get firsthand experience of Danish Crown’s international challenges and opportunities.

An onsite support team will help you with day-to-day practicalities like finding a place to live and building a network, and make sure that you have access to the right projects, tasks and teams.

Coaching and career support Our Graduate Programme is designed to meet each candidate’s professional interests, ambitions and goals. To grow your high potential and support your development as you go through the programme, you will have one-on-one meetings with your line manager, who will draw up a Performance Development Plan together with you. You will also have a mentor who will coach you and give feedback throughout the programme.

Two graduate tracks The Graduate Programme offers two leadership tracks: Business leadership and Production leadership. Business leadership This track is aimed at candidates who are interested in management and business leadership in a more general sense. For example, you may wish to head up a sales team even though you’re not trained in this field. As a business graduate, you will be solving tasks that are critical to our business. We expect you’re keen to take the lead and enjoy learning from others.

Production leadership This track is aimed at candidates who wish to become leaders at one of our production sites. To qualify for this track, you must have an interest within production and could have for example a degree in engineering, animal/food science, business or something else. As a production graduate, you will be solving tasks that are critical to our daily operations. For this track, we’re also looking for ambitious candidates who are keen to take the lead. And ‘learning by doing’ has to be an approach you enjoy. 3

The candidate

Your person ality, values and motivation to learn more about our business are the most important qualifications. But candidates obviously also need to have certain formal qualifications.

You’re enthusiastic and have an international mindset. You’re keen to learn and not afraid to explore new ideas and put them to the test. You’re ambitious, self-driven and hard-working – but approach colleagues and the world around you with humility and respect.

Are you the candidate we’re looking for?

Danish Crown is still a cooperative at the core. We are owned by approximately 6,800 Danish and Swedish farmers, who supply pigs and cattle to our abattoirs. Our job is to turn these animals into valuable products, sell them on the world market, and return the profit to our owners.

As a graduate in our Group, you’ll get unique insight into the workings of a long and fully-integrated value chain – which starts on the farm, moves into abattoirs and through various production units, into trading companies and sales organisations, finally ending on the plate or in the lunchbox of the consumer.

Each unit in this value chain observes high standards for food and animal safety - and integrates social, environmental and ethical considerations in their production and processes. Danish Crown Group is one of the world’s largest meat processing companies. A significant share of our turnover comes from our business units, which include production companies and specialised trading companies.

The business units are Danish Crown Pork, Danish Crown Beef, Danish Crown Foods, ESS-FOOD, DAT-Schaub, Sokołów and KLS Ugglarps.

Part of a big agenda Meat production has a huge impact on the planet, our climate, and the living conditions of future generations. This is a fundamental challenge for all meat producers. Danish Crown included. Working with partners across our industry, we’re rising to this challenge.

Our vision is to make sustainably produced meat part of the solution to climate change. To make this happen, we’ve set ambitious goals for our own production. By 2030, we will have reduced our greenhouse gas emission by 50%.
