SiO2 Silica occurs commonly in nature as sandstone, silica sand or quartzite. It is the starting material for the production of silicate glasses and ceramics. Silica is one of the most abundant oxide materials in the earth’s crust. It can exist in an amorphous form (vitreous silica) or in a variety of crystalline forms. Often it will occur as a non-crystalline oxidation product on the surface of silicon or silicon compounds.

Alena Wils ceramics The most important influences on my design thoughtprocess and practice are my experiences contemplating the life of natural landscapes in different parts of the world. I like to work with porcelain, glazes and paintings and an aim I’m pursuing in my creation is the pleasure of color, form and line. If I have harmony between surface, pattern and color in my mosaic piece, I feel that my work has turned out really well. When people see my work, I’d like them to get a sense of joy from touching the ceramic surface and watching the colorful illusion of nature, giving positive thinking to the mind. Amy Krßger glass I stand on the edge, looking down. I get a strong shudder through my whole body, it feels like hundreds of ants are crawling on me. I find myself thinking about just to take one more step. But why should I? Me, who has everything I could possibly want. Why are these kind of thoughts creeping into my head? I must go away from the edge now! But I`m like hypnotized by this idea, the edge, the simple step. The Dream and reality. The fine line between life and death. I am developing works by analyzing myself and my hidden thoughts. I want to confront the weaknesses and dark side within me, in search for a deeper understanding. I express my thoughts and feelings by creating symbolic glass sculpture’s . In the composition I investigate the relationship between realism and fantasy, the innocent and clean together with the obscene. P 0045 29476441 W www.amykruger.com E amykruger@hotmail.com 01. CÌcilie Kaas Jørgensen ceramics My work is an exploration of the beauty and mystery of natural life. Nature is my book of inspiration and investigation. I travel into the microcosm teeming with structures and forms, and the ocean full of strange formations and odd inhabitants. These worlds within our world form the basis of my expression in ceramic. Christoffer Olling Back glass My piece aims to use glass in a spatial context which combines the beautiful, safe and familiar with the disturbing and unknown. Initially, the piece looks like a collection of vases with a familiar, traditional shape, and that sterile glimmer of glass. But something is not quite right. Something is hiding in those opaque, black vases that would seem so inanimate and harmless on their own. The exaggerated, human-like form, along with the sheer quantity and scale, brings this unholy society of dead objects to life. The use of shadows, along with a layout which surrounds the viewer, creates a domineering and almost threatening effect for the viewer. The viewer is left to form their own associations with the work. What are the vases supposed to be? Are they little soldiers? The shadows spirits or ghosts? A dark forest? The domineering spires of gothic architecture? Or mourners gathered for a funeral, perhaps the viewer’s own? W www.christofferback.com E mail@christofferback.com 01. Guro Feste ceramics I wanted to make tableware for children (cup, plate and spoon) , that is motivating and fun for them to eat from, and exiting for them to look at and use. I have focused on creating interesting shapes rather than many bright colors, because I think that can be just as exiting to a child. I also want to focus on the food, tableware that contains to much “entertainment” might disturb the meal? I also want my tableware to be easy for children to use, and ergonomically correct: Easy and comfortable to hold, drink and eat from. I am inspired by Maria Montessoris teaching methods, where self- sufficiency is one of the main principals. This helps build up a child´s self-esteem and self-worth, wich is important in any aspect of life. It is important to me that children are able to use my tableware without much, or preferably any, help from adults. Montessori took children seriously, which I believe is just as important to them as it is to us adults. M 0045 30504875 W gurofeste.carbonmade.com handfeste.blogspot.com E gurofeste@gmail.com 01. Lauge Brixvold ceramics This work is primarily concerned with aesthetics and representations of the ceramic surface: the glaze. “Others say knowledge only is eternal, it is the eternal illusion of learning-the Ukase of learning what we already know. Directly we ask ourselves “how” we induce stupidity; without this conception what is there we could not know and accomplish? Others for concentration, it will not free you, the mind conceiving the law is bondage. Arrived at that, you will want deconcentration. Dissociation from all ideas but one is not release but imaginative fulfillment, or the fury of creation. Others again, that all things are emanations of the Divine Spirit, as rays from the Sun, hence the need of emancipation? Verily, things are of necessity through their conception and belief. Then let us destroy or change conception, and empty the belief. “ Austin Osman Spare M 0045 52603030 W brixvold.com E brixvold@gmail.com 01. Iridescent Vessel Materials: Stoneware Dimensions: 13*8

Line Lund ceramics I create some simple graphic shapes and surfaces that appeal to our senses. Eyes and hands want to see and touch my objects, examine them, turn them around and look at the other side. Label them. I will awaken a curiosity in the viewer. A wonder or just a moment..... I take the starting point of the strict basic forms, they appeal to me, they appeal to us because it’s the first thing we learn about form, and we recognize them quickly, quite unconsciously, I touch them and make them part of me, give them a little of me. I will create for the mind, the eye, for the good feeling inside when you see something beautiful. It is important that the things we have around us give us something, a nice feeling, a reaction or a smile. M 61656945 W Linemarialund.dk E mail@linemarialund.dk 01. Maria Bang Espersen glass A drinking glass is hard and stable, it is capable of containing a liquid and it is soft on our lips. We know this from past experiences using drinking glasses. Just like we know that glass is transparent, hard and sharp. But what happens when you are confronted with a drinking vessel made from glass that possesses none of the above mentioned qualities? Can we still recognize it as a drinking glass? And what are our expectations if someone were to use the unfamiliar drinking glass? We interpret everything around us and use our past experiences and expectations in doing so. None of what we see is seen neutrally. Things are what they are because we read them in a certain way. The perceiving subject is important in understanding the object perceived. P 0045 61261757 W www.mariabangespersen.com E espersen@hotmail.com 01. Martin Wils ceramics The making of ceramic is an important thing in my life, because from having an idea, and to be with a finished product is a process where I need to do me many thoughts of form color and technique. There are many challenges along the way in which I must carefully make me aware off, which choices i take, and why I take them and how they affect the my first Idea and how I along the way can use them to get a completeresult. Matilda Eriksson glass I find inspiration to my work in the ordinary and simple things that I meet in everyday life. A detail catches my eye and becomes my focus. It can be something as simple as a single wrinkle on someone’s shirt, a book marked by age and long use, a creaking chair or an asymmetric water puddle. I simplify and seek the core of the phenomenon that caught my attention. An abstraction develops within the process of my work, simultaneously the source of inspiration becomes less important. Eventually the course of transformation takes over and consumes both the object of my work and my state of mind. I work with shape, surface and composition, but the real magic happens in the transformation. It is the transformation that feeds ideas and questions. What is happening? What happends next? What does it mean? E mathilda.b.eriksson@gmail.com W mathildaeriksson.carbonmade.com 01. The course of transformation I Materials: Sandblasted glass Dimensions: 10*13 02. Mia Refslund Jensen ceramics The absurd arises in the conflict between the human tendency to search for a meaning to life and the human inability to find any. Maybe we live in an absurd world where we can only find meaning through the choices and actions we carry out. I’ve made my self-portraits from the thought that there is no meaning or greater purpose to life. In the sculptures, we can be sure that we see some human figures. The rest makes either no sense, or it offers some kind of value to those who want to find one. P 0045 26249465 E miarefslund@hotmail.com 01. Morten Klitgaard glass Repetition: I´ve always been fascinated by lines. I am attracted to repetition, which can seem almost monotonous and meditative, and the aesthetic effect and the layer of references lies beneath the surface. The graphic pattern is reinforced by the glass intrinsic optical quality, which affects the size of the pattern, direction and progress. The shape refers to crystals and diamonds that are processed whit facets so the lines will advance from their orginal frequency. P 0045 30828224 W www.mortenklitgaard.dk E mail@mortenklitgaard.dk 01. Paul Kay ceramics Digital art creation for me is exciting, I feel like I’m working with pure energy and then transforming it into a physical material. While engaging with the computer interface has a kind of materiality, interfacing between your senses and a conscious presence within a digitally enhanced surrounding, I work within a virtual world of energy that ultimately fabricates reality. Utilizing technology to define a kind of space and form, abstracting relationships between tools and ‘mark making’, feeling like an expansion of one’s artistic surroundings. We can then peek into this world through monitors, screens and even capture it on paper and through 3d forming, but it is always an electrical construct at its essence or is it? Pernille Pontopiddan Pedersen ceramics What is a judgment of taste? A judgement of taste is essentially subjective. What this means is that a judgment of taste is based on a feeling of pleasure or displeasure. In matters of taste on beauty or ugliness, we may think that others ought to share our judgment. And we get offended if they don’t. Why do we require that others share our judgment? We think of our judgment as being just. And that means that we think that the opposite judgment would be unjust. Why do we have such an aspiration to universal validity in the judgment of taste? P 0045 51343773 W www.pernillepontoppidan.com E pernillepontoppidanp@gmail.com 01. Sandra Pallin glass How would you act In A Perfect World? Lagomt - the suitable and properly adjusted, this is how I was taught, expected to live and behave. There is no room for wrongs or doubts. Or is there? I have created a product line with a comment on the Law of Jante, combined with a minimalist expression. I work against the mentality of “not being more” in decoration, inventive details and let my work create a dialogue between the viewer and the products. Every drinking glass is different and refers to the social norms and behaviors from my point of view. You might find some defects, but who can judge? Take a step back, and adore the beauty of it. Theis Lorentzen ceramics I like setups and configuration. Things arranged and placed together in a setting or stilleben. I am interested in the complex relation between objects and the connection and coherence between elements. When things are placed together, they change from being individual objects to become a unified whole. You need single elements to build a whole. I have had a playful approach to this project, and dealt with the setup as a kind of construction kit and a game with a set of rules. I have decided on the cone as my building module, made a number of various sizes, and used them as modules to build the single objects as well as the whole setups. Verena Schatz glass 2400 pieces of clear glass canes, every single one of them transmits light. All of them together create an object with a rather minimalistic and discreet appearance. It is only with the involvement of the observer that the piece is “activated, making its true quality visible. The piece relies and is dependent on human curiosity and the urge to explore as well as the desire to play. The viewer becomes part of the work, he co-produces the optical phenomenon which evokes associations with kinetics and modern technology as well as pointilistic paintings. It is through this interaction that the glass panel is perceived as an experience rather than an object. W www.verenaschatz.com E verenaschatz2000@yahoo.de 01.
