School of architecture in historical site Third Year Studio (Fall 2014) Type: Educational/Residential (3,395 m2) Media: Revit, Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, Photoshop, Illustrator, Vray Team project with Oscar Belmont Morales As a team we equally contribute to the final design in terms of form, function and structure. After that, I was in charge of the graphics, including renders, diagrams and some of the drawings.

Site The Boston Architectural College (BAC) offers all types of academic degrees in architecture. Mexico’s city campus is located in historical downtown, where stone buildings with classic elements can be found.

Concept The proposal focuses on contrasting the modern versus the classical. The program is distributed evenly, forming a box building. Parametric design is introduced as a means of attraction to architecture students, making evident a new architectural language.

Lighting strategy In order to provide necessary lighting to all spaces, two main elements are proposed: a facade with hexagonal perforations which allows light to enter more indirectly to the rooms on the north side and an interior cone to illuminate the main foyer in every story.

Outdoor public space

Concept The library takes advantage of the different levels through two main entrances. The axes from the surrounding streets are taken in order to produce a building with several public spaces in the shape of terraces. A central glass void is created to have illuminated spaces. Also, all the curtain walls which show proximity to the main collection are covered with a patterned skin.

SANCTORUM House for an artist

Second Year Studio (Fall 2013) - USA EXCHANGE Type: Residential (121 m2) Media: Rockite, Basswood, Graphite, Rhinoceros, Photoshop, Illustrator El Morro NM, is the site for the project. It is placed on the top of a mountain with a steep slope in desertic habitat. The building seeks to continue with the descending topography above the ground level supported by columns. The advantages of a “floating house are the views and the thermal comfort that are provided to the user.

Urban revitalization through mixed-use Fourth Year Studio (Fall 2015) Type: Mixed-use (45,935 m2) Media: Revit, Autocad, Rhinoceros, Photoshop, Illustrator, Vray Team project with Diana Rodríguez Perea and Juan Manuel Ruiz We developed the design as a team. After that, I was in charge of space programming, landscape design, some as-built drawings and graphics, including render and diagrams. The mixed-use project, seeks to reactivate and densify “Pensil Neighborhood”, located across from the touristic and busy area of Polanco. Other than industries and houses, the derelict area is accompanied by one of the main subway stations in the city, which facilitates the change on urban scale.

The site analysis, shows five blocks with a big potential of development. A proposal for zoning is established, as a result of analyzing existing buildings, circulation paths and open areas. The chosen block for the project is the one that has minor restrictions in terms of zoning, and it is located across from San Joaquin subway station on the north and facing a main avenue on the south. 13

MEXICABLE PLAZA Recovery of public space

Professional work (INGENIA EDMX - 2015) Type: Public space (1,746.7 m2) Construction: Fall 2015 - Summer 2016 Media: Revit, Autocad, Rhinoceros, Photoshop, Illustrator Team project with Francisco Acosta and Luis Antonio JimĂŠnez We developed the design as a team. After that, I was in charge of specifications on pavement and vegetation, lighting design and also some of the as-built drawings. Mexicable is a public cableway created to provide a mass transportation system in areas that are difficult to reach for conventional public transportation. Located in Ecatepec, State of Mexico the project includes seven stations. Mexicable plaza is located at the rear of Station 7, between a primary school and a church. The goal was to promote social encounter by having a flexible space for markets, community meetings and events.

Concept The plaza explores simplicity through symmetrical shapes and four main entrances, including ramps in three of them. Painting is promoted as a means of leisure and to promote cultural heritage, by including some painting panels on the north wall. Different type of pavements are used in order to divide the main areas and also to attract people’s attention when arriving to the station from above. 18

DREAMS/SECRETS HOTEL Form follows site and function

Professional work (Sordo Madaleno Architects 2017-Current) Type: Hotel (600 rooms and 80,000 m2) Current Phase: Design development Construction: It will start in November 2018 Media: Revit, Autocad, Rhinoceros, Photoshop, Illustrator Project Leader: AndrĂŠs Cajiga From inception until construction drawings I have been working on this project first individually with multiple revisions with my project leader and then with a teammate. Design was developed as a team and my responsibilities included development of design proposals, Autocad drawing, 3d Modelling, follow up with contractors and client, presentation making and architectural program analysis comparing areas. This complex is divided into 2 hotels run by the same operator, AM Resorts. The first one, Dreams is meant to be for families and Secrets is the honeymoon hotel. The biggest challenge was to accommodate 600 rooms in such an irregular site. After that, we divided the two hotels, with its own amenities, but sharing the Back of the house.

Concept

The form of the hotel arises from analysing the site topography and it results in the creation of a “spaceship building, where 70% of the rooms have views to the ocean and the rest have views to the forest. The creation of bridges is necessary in order to allow water to flow below the building and fall into the beach.

In the North side, this level includes mostly amenities for both hotels colored in pink and purple: a theatre, ballroom, shopping area, business center. In the south the Dreams Hotel Lobby can be found with some of the rooms (baby blue) that have ocean view.

Park, recreation and culture Internal competition (Sordo Madaleno Architects 2018) Type: Park (4,270 m2) Media: Revit, Autocad, Rhinoceros, Vray for 3DS Max, Photoshop, Illustrator As a team of three people (Roselía Marroquín and Laura Daniela Martínez) we developed this proposal where the main focus was to promote the local culture and serve as a space where not only people during weekdays can enjoy, but also during the weekend families can come to do many recreational activities. It was important for us to include green areas as this area is mostly surrounded by high-rise buildings and shopping centers.
