LITTLE GIRL & HER TREASURE Digital Art
2012 210mm*297mm
Every person must have something that he or she treasures as a kid. It could be something physical or a fantasy. I created this digital art to represent my long-time fantasy- owning a cat that is as huge as a lion and riding on it. A little girl sitting on the back of the cat in the middle of the grass field with a treasure chest next it. It looks like the little girl and the cat are going somewhere looking for something; just like me being a kid looking for the direction in my life. What is your fantasy as a kid?

I created this virtual advertising for the New York based shoe company Cole Haan. Cole Haan released the so-called Lunargrand Wintip Oxfords in winter 2012 and they have soon become my favorite shoes since they are comfy yet stylish. The biggest distinguishing feature of the shoes is their bright fluorescent-colored soles. Therefore, I use the color of the sole as the background to match the shoes and adding elements of New York such as landmarks to show the root of the shoe brand.

CHASING Digital Art

As I am preparing the application for graduate school and pursuing my dream, I want to create something that represents how I feel. As a result, I created this digital art of an English bulldog chasing after a bone under the water to reflect my goal of pursuing a graphic design career in a competitive industry and environment.

This is a digital art that shows where I get my inspirations from for the works I have done on a daily basis and putting them altogether in an abstract way. They are not exactly what I look for but they symbolize on the categories that I tend to observe such as nature, human beings and other physical objects.

I have always believed that there are two sides for a person’s personality, the bright side and the dark side, and so do I. I wanted to show the dark side of the personality by creating this black and white grungy digital art with lots of objects with negative perceptions such as eagles, thorns, a skull and a mansion in the background.
SUMMER Digital Art
2012 210mm*297mm
Summer is the best season in a year in my opinion because you get to go to the beach to play and enjoy the sunshine. This digital art was created during the coldest time in Taiwan since I had missed summer so much. I created it hoping that it would satisfy my desire of heading to the beach and I hope people who see it would have the same feeling as me.
MORALITY Digital Art

Every single Chinese character has its own meaning. The character I chose for this piece of work is “De, which means morality in Chinese culture and it is also one of the characters in my first name. Therefore, I have added things in nature such as plants, cranes and smoke to reflect the meaning of morality, that is to be associated with the nature of being right and wrong or good and bad.

Jiagu is a hair salon based in Hsinchu City, Taiwan and they were holding a contest to re-design their logo in September of 2012. I participated in the contest and here is the finishing result. I adopted the sign of Gemini, which was also in the idea of their original logo, and adding the concept of scissors to form the current logo using basic geometric shapes and straight lines.

This is a project done for a contest held by one of the biggest beef jerky company- Taiwan King of Dried Pork. They were trying to promote a new shape of their beef jerky, which is a strip and they would like the target audience to be the younger crowd. Therefore, I created a series of advertising to help them promote the new product. I wanted to emphasize that eating beef jerky could also be a more elegant activity enjoyed by the upper class since beef jerky is considered to be a snack for the older crowd and middle class in Taiwan.

The advertising is designed for Sheng Kee Bakery. Dragon Boat Festival, which happens on the 5th day of 5th lunar month, commemorates the ancient Chinese patriotic poet, Qu Yuan, who committed suicide by drowning himself into the Miluo River because he was accused for treason in the Warring States Period of Zhou Dynasty. The local people, who admired him, dropped leaf-wrapped rice cakes into the river to feed Qu Yuan in his afterlife and paddled out on boats to scare away the fishes from eating his body. The concept behind this poster is to reinvent the traditional Chinese holiday to catch the attention of the younger generation by putting joyful elements of the festival into a beautifully designed poster since many of the younger generation do not celebrate the festival nowadays.

The advertising is designed for Sheng Kee Bakery. Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the biggest holidays and celebrations in Chinese culture and eating mooncakes has always been a tradition associated with the Mid-Autumn Festival. Sheng Kee Bakery is the first company in Taiwan that popularized small-sized mooncakes in 1950's. The advertising wants to emphasize that no matter how the technology advances through out the time, Sheng Kee still persists the traditional way of making quality mooncakes.
There is not much of text used in the advertising. Instead, a series of illustration of music player development is placed in a chronological order along with the same Sheng Kee's mooncake below to show the contrast between technology advancement and tradition persistence.

The advertising is for Sheng Kee Bakery. Portuguese custard tart is the most popular dessert in Macau and was first introduced in Macau by an English man called Andrew Stow in 1989. He changed the recipe of the original pastĂŠis de nata and started selling it in his bakery called Lord Stow. Soon the dessert became very popular in Macau and people who visit Macau would line up for hours in order to taste it. The poster consists of a background of different Chinese typefaces in short sentences or phrases that describe the history of Macau, history of Portuguese tart and how delicious it tastes in very detailed adjectives. The purpose of putting the text in the background is not for people to read each word. Instead, it is to show the complexity in terms of history, taste and popularity behind such a simple-looking dessert.
