The Awakening

it of a grandiose title to be sure, although it does suit Mear One’s beautiful art work gracing our cover this month. So much hoopla over this latest eclipse, so many mad predictions, warnings, darkly lunatic maneuvers and evolutionary exhortations, as to fill the noosphere (sphere of human thought) itself with the curse of Babel. Well, the world’s still here. Looks like the ‘big celestial event’ has come and gone and much like every other calamitous prophecy that has crossed my view over the last many decades (and there have been quite a few) the day continues on for the most part much like before: still a wondrous mystery if you know how to appreciate it, still a bit of a slog through a rather thick dimension of being; still a pain in the ass dealing with whatever’s hasn’t been dealt with as yet: ah, procrastination’s preventable pain. And, apart from some industrious capitalizing and fear mongering, it’s a ‘much ado about nothing’ really all that caterwauling. “Do not sacrifice your life to popular slogans and mass activities, instead, live consciously, which is both individual and universal.” — Vernon Howard Oh, sure, I heard about the crossnational war-games, government cataclysm preparations, sabre rattling galore and the usual negative nonsense infesting the medias, and thereby the consciousness of the entrained masses, which is, of course, business as usual for this crowd. Between the powerless predatorial gibberings and other more visceral attempts at dragging down our collective consciousnesses, I feel ever more strongly that disengaging from fear-filled madness and homicidal selfishness is the best strategy. Regardless of it’s many ‘inspired’ manifestations, shall we say, and the palpable fact that for all intents and purposes Fear has a kind of anti-existence, being a parasitical affair: it’s still an illusion; useful to a degree at a certain ‘level’ of being, but past it not so much.

or W.T.F. (Where’s That Freedom!) piece of theatre needs a black-drop to make the players stand out in their glory and which really helps with the lighting in the room) sure, but if ya don’t stink of fear them buggers don’t perceive you and have no hold on you: you just don’t speak their language; and really, they shit themselves at even the idea of seeing the truth of who and what they are being and doing. So if they don’t attack you outright, potentially because you gave

any longer or anymore. Maybe it’s a terrible, wonderful sacrifice to help us along our way. Maybe the petty tyrants really are here for our fun and enjoyment. What can we say but thank you? And no thank you, I ordered the paradise with a side order of limitless joy, thanks all the same. They can keep their cannibalistic idiocy, their bestiality, their depraved version of humanity, their utterly ridiculous self-importance; heck,

them something to attack, really, you’re good to go. Dealing with one’s business, call it karma, call it what you will, is a real affair, real honest work, and all these experiences we collectively share, as subjective as they are, are surely part of this; but once you’re really on that path even the crazy shit becomes sweet golden fertilizer.

they can even keep the change, they’re gonna need it after all. Sure Fredalupe, but what happens when it’s someone you love attacking you, hurting you, hating you, or worse? Well, when isn’t it? More practically speaking, it can be a drag, literally, I know, I’ve had lots of that experience. Pays to remember that we too passed by there, hurt others we loved, attacked them, the rest of that litany. I guess when it happens to us it’s time to forgive, and forgive and forgive, and then probably forgive again. Practice makes perfect, and it’s not like there isn’t a world of people to forgive out there, working away to give us all more to forgive. And what do we ‘get’ for all that forgiveness: we get forgiven, we get to forgive ourselves. And who doesn’t need some forgiveness? An important thing to remember is that Time, alias the fourth dimension, isn’t real either, and there is only really Now,

“A single idea, if it is right, saves us the labor of an infinity of experiences.” — Jacques Maritain

“A single event can awaken within us a stranger totally unknown to us. To live is to be slowly born.” — Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Whether it’s just an attention thing or a more corporeal participation in the mad dream of separateness and ignorance from Source, an expression of our lack of trust in all that is: just don’t do it, don’t be it, don’t join them in their suicidal silliness, don’t empower or encourage evil with your energy, with your intention, your attention, your life. One still keeps ‘an eye out’ so to speak, pun intended, on the slavering predator in the room, (every

Of course some of these creatures are totally okay with what they are and revel in their darkness, and really, good for them. As difficult as it may be to really understand their choice: they’ve made it, they are on their journey, they have that right, free will works that way. And maybe they’re doing it so we don’t have to. Maybe they’re offering us all an incredible opportunity to witness and see exactly what we don’t want for ourselves,

forever and then some. All of it, all of us, happening, being, living, loving, and the rest of all possibilities occurring all in the Now. Hence the powerful and liberating practice of including it all in one’s contextual field so as to not need to repeat anything ad nauseum, and then to really get our ‘grow’ on. For example, and in the extreme: I don’t need to kill anyone to feel as deeply as possible the horror of that experience, from both ends and in the middle, I might add. There’s another me out there, guaranteed, finding that out for themselves. And out that truth go’s and grows exponentially, fractally, in every direction. Ideally, we’d be living in harmony with all life, not requiring it’s consumption in any way; and I feel very strongly that’s where many of us are heading, on our own yet together, in increments and degrees, baby steps and giant leaps. Many others are, of course, heading in the other direction. So be it. Just make sure you’re living your own truth not someone else’s, dreaming your own dream, living your own life, not allowing for any possession alien to your nature. Easy to say, not always easy to do when there are forces seemingly arrayed ‘against’ you, your peace, your happiness, your life even. Well, who said it was supposed to be easy? Evolution’s anything but - particularly the conscious kind, not really sure there’s any other mind you. I can report that momentum is a real thing, in the sense that having gone through my own very difficult experiences there’s a lot more of the good stuff in my life and less of the other than before: more joy, less pain, more freedom, less of its antithesis, lots more me, lots less the not-me. To get there I’ve had to curtail my indulging, again and again and again, until just curtailing it wasn’t enough and I had to truly stop them altogether, before those same indulgences (habits, addictions, distorted beliefs, etc…) killed me. Sobriety’s not really a dirty word. This is not unlike what’s going on all around us it seems to me. This not-doing eventually and very naturally became the practice of discovering what was actually good for me, what was and is the proper use of my energy: how to best live and love my life, in a nutshell, and when, finally out of that very shell. “If what you seek is Truth, there is one thing you must have above all else.” “I know. An overwhelming passion for it.” “No. An unremitting readiness to admit you may be wrong.” — Anthony de Mello Purpose. Determination. Commitment.
