Senior Services Center of Will County

Honor ary Chairmen It is an honor to serve as co-sponsors of The Capital Campaign for the Senior Services Center of Will County. The statistics show how important this campaign is to the senior population of Will County. According to the 2000 census, the 60-plus population in Will County has increased by 35%, and this trend will only grow as the baby boomers reach senior status. These statistics make it even more evident why this campaign is so important. By serving men and women over age 60 with Meals on Wheels, conducting elder abuse investigations, and implementing health programs and social and recreational programs, we can ensure a quality of life to seniors in Will County who have raised their families, paid their taxes, and deserve the best quality of life in their golden years.

Arthur “A.J.” Wilhelmi State Senator – 43rd District

What you should know about the Center is that they are committed to program services: 92 cents of every dollar raised goes directly into services. Please consider donating to this very worthy campaign, and help the Senior Services Center continue to provide the most essential services to over 47,000 seniors in Will County. We appreciate your kindness for the senior community of Will County.

John “Jack” McGuire State Representative – 86th District

The Need As a non-for profit social service agency, the Senior Services Center has been serving senior citizens and their families for 40 years. Although there is a strong volunteer base at the Center, it is funding that keeps our doors open and allows us to improve the lives of our local seniors citizens. This task is getting tougher each year, as we continue to see increases in the request for services. In 2005, we reached 47,970 different individuals and provided 786,735 units of service which is a 9% increase. We often have a waiting list for home delivered meals and at times have had waiting lists for respite services and counseling. We also have many programs and support groups that would not be possible without appropriate funding. In today’s fast paced political and business environment, senior issues tend to get lost. This campaign is an incredible opportunity to not only help our seniors, but also raise public awareness about the Center and all it has to offer.
