Control Measures The hazards (problems) above relate to the control measures (solutions) below. Implementing these measures will reduce the risk. 1

PHYSICAL - Can cause injury to back etc. 15kg/linear metre = 60+kg. Use technology to lift. Teach construction worker how to use technology safely.

2

PHYSICAL – Can cause injury to any part of body. Only 3m high. Use barriers/harness at height to prevent falling.

3

CHEMICAL – Can cause someone to drown. 1.5m away from site. Use barriers at ground level. Warning signs.

4

PHYSICAL – Can cause minor injury or worse if pool is unguarded. Use slip-proof lining on floor. Wear helmets.

5

PHYSICAL – Can cause minor/lethal damage to body. Electrocution a risk. Use a battery drill instead of electronic tools. Use hand guards. Teach construction worker safety.

Very Likely

A freak combination of factors would be required for an accident/incident to occur

A rare combination of factors would be required for and accident/incident to occur

Could happen when accidental factors are present

Not certain to happen but an additional factor may result in and accident/incident

Almost inevitable that an accident/incident would result

How often does the hazard occur? Consider the task, frequency, duration, method of work and employees involved

Risk

Score

Comment

LOW

1-6

Usually an acceptable level provided that the control measures are adhered to

MEDIUM

8-10

HIGH

12-25

Further controls may be needed .e.g. better equipment, strict supervision of task, additional training Task must not proceed. Reassess the risks for all hazards and introduce better control measures.
