Happy Holidays!! This is one of my favorite parts of the entire year. Sure there are holiday stresses, but those moments when the giving spirit takes over and friends and/or strangers share a Hallmark moment, it’s truly magical. This month we have a special feature story! Danville’s own singer-songwriter, Chelsea Ames, is opening up about her musical journey and giving us the inside scoop on her inspirations, hesitations, and successes as she navigates the release of her debut album, Big Little Dream. If you have a story to share or know a neighbor that you would love to see on our cover, please send me an email at asullivan@bestversionmedia.com. We welcome all families, couples, or individuals - the only requirement is that our feature family live on the west side. So send your neighbors and friends my way! I can’t wait to meet them!

Meet Chelsea Ames: Music is Good for the Soul By Alexandra Sullivan, Resident since 2017

“Music is the soundtrack of your life.” - Dick Clark Truer words could not be spoken when it comes to west side resident Chelsea Ames. As a talented singer-songwriter, Chelsea recently completed her debut album, Big Little Dream: a journey through the highs and lows of her life. From Chico to Danville, Chelsea takes an intimate look at what life in a small town is like through the lens of both a young girl chasing dreams to a mom raising her own kids. With a wedding, career, and kids all in tow, Chelsea has definitely grown a lot since her first foray into songwriting on her brother’s guitar when she was nine years old. “Music has always been a big part of my family life growing up. My Dad plays guitar and taught my brother and me a few chords when we were kids. I played multiple instruments as a kid and then bought my first guitar in

college.” Although her first song was simple in execution, it allowed Chelsea to realize that singing and songwriting were her life’s passions. “In college, I taught myself a ton of songs with my first guitar and was always writing songs when I wasn’t at class. My roommates and I played and sang songs for fun at a lot of house parties in Chico.” It was at Chico State in 2000 that Chelsea met Mark Freudenberger. Three years later they were married and then in 2004 they welcomed their first daughter. Although thrilled with all the exciting new moves in her life, Chelsea had to leave behind the idea of recording all of the songs she had written during her college years. “Music wasn’t a priority because I couldn’t figure out how to make money doing it, we were heavily focused on our careers and raising our first baby. But my passion for music never left my side.” For the next ten years, Chelsea was in the thick of babies, toddlers, and juggling her career in multimedia design, specifically designing learning programs. She and Mark went on to have a second daughter and then two sons, “During this time Mark was traveling 70% of the time for his career. This period of our life was exciting, and exhausting all at the same time, and quite honestly a blur because we were so busy with four young kids.”

8

DECEMBER 2021

Coming out of the parenting fog, and into some newly found independence, Chelsea was then hit with the undeniable truth that life can change on a dime. In 2018, her cousin was diagnosed with breast cancer (she is thankfully doing well now). That moment combined with the fact that Chelsea’s extended family has lost two members to cancer below the age of 40, led Chelsea to take a look at her own life and ask herself if she was doing all she wanted to be doing; “It had been 20 years since I left Chico, I still had my songs I wanted to record. I started playing my guitar more, revisited the songs I had written in college and even joined my brother at one of his gigs where I faced my fear of performing for strangers. All these moments in 2018 motivated me to focus on what I’ve always wanted to do, which was to make music, no matter how hard it was going to be with everything else we had going on.” The name of Chelsea’s album, Big Little Dream, came from her lyrics, “It was a big little dream in a small little town.” Thankfully Chelsea didn’t throw out the song, even though she was struggling with it, and instead was hit with a burst of inspiration doing what so many parents know all too well, driving her daughter to a weekend dance class. “I think in that moment, it hit me that this was a dream of mine and I’m in a small little town again - the only difference is I’m now older, a mother of 4 kids with a career, trying to do it all.” During the lockdown of 2020, Chelsea “continued working on my songs and tried to figure out where I could recordm but with Covid nothing was open and I didn’t know anyone with a recording studio. So Mark suggested changing the kids’ messy backpack closet into my recording studio. I now work and record in a closet...it is perfect for my music as well as my job.” Of course the whole family has been supportive from the beginning. Mark, being Chelsea’s #1 fan, serves as her manager, photographer, sound tech, and anything else she needs. The boys love to jam with her on the weekends, and Rosie, their pup, loves to cuddle up and listen while Chelsea practices. When asked about her 5 year plan, Chelsea says, “I’m discovering my part 2 of this music journey I’m on as I go. I really want to keep getting out and play live more in town and go play at other places such as wineries, perhaps with a band or another guitar player. It would be nice to have someone else playing with me.” As the kids keep growing, and Chelsea sees even more time for herself on the horizon, she knows she’s never going to stop singing and songwriting now. Chelsea’s first local gig was right downtown at Auburn Lounge, followed by a fundraising event for Montair Elementary at Hazy Barbecue. “I am thankful to all my friends in this town who Where residents find and recommend the best local, trusted businesses

have continued to show up and support me when I go out and play... When I play one of my songs and people share their own personal story that relates to it, it makes all the hard work of staying up late totally worth it!” The tracks making up Big Little Dream are pure Chelsea, “...they are all stories from my life. There are sad songs, happy songs, hopeful songs, dreamy songs, and love songs.” The only song that made it on the album from her days in Chico is a track called “Movie Star”, it’s about Mark, but, “it is a rewrite from college days, an updated version of who we are now, 20 years later.” Other songs like “Calistoga” and “Little Things I Miss” serve as memorable moments preserved in her music. “Angels on our side” and “Barely 21” are in dedication to some of the family members, Chelsea’s musician grandmother and her cousin, and a close friend, who all passed too soon, but have helped guide her on this journey. “Two Little Hearts” is a sorrowful, yet hopeful song chronicling the two miscarriages that Chelsea and Mark experienced after they had their daughters, “it really is about hope after loss, moving forward and holding onto hope and the gifts (who were our two little boys) that are given to you after grief and loss.” Chelsea describes “Fancy Shoes” best, “it is about being an exhausted working career mom who decided to make a change one day and do exactly what I was meant to do.” Even though she occasionally gets upset with herself that it took her 20 years to make this album, Chelsea also knows that she previously didn’t have the life experiences to make it the way it was meant to be done. Now, with a full album under her belt, and the opportunity to perform and connect with audiences, Chelsea knows she is in fact living her Big Little Dream! Is Your Loved One Experiencing Memory Loss? Here are Four Tips for this Holiday Season By Parveen Singh, Senior Executive Director, Carefield Pleasanton Memory Care

T

he holidays can be stressful, and even more so when caring for a loved one who is beginning to experience or is in the throes of memory loss. However, the holidays can help us relate to our loved ones in new ways – it’s just a matter of planning, preparation and teamwork amongst family members. Here are some helpful tips: 1. Let visitors know what to expect. Family and friends who gather with you this holiday season need to be aware that things have changed since they last saw your loved one. A phone call prior to your holiday celebration can help with making the holiday event much smoother, creating a positive tone and a welcoming atmosphere. 2. Focus on creating memories in the moment, not reflecting on the past. During holiday gatherings we tend to reminisce on past memories, which can be confusing and difficult for loved ones experiencing memory loss. Instead, focus on the present with special activities to do as a family like hanging ornaments, preparing food together, or even using a Polaroid camera to take fun pictures as a family. Avoid questions such as “Remember how we used to do this?” or correcting your loved one when he/she gets names or facts wrong. Be supportive, positive and focus on the present. 3. Be inclusive. Even though your loved one is experiencing memory loss, including them in activities like holiday decorating, simple food preparation like plating, or tidying up the dining area can help them feel the spirit of the holidays. Although your loved one may not be able to participate in the same capacity that he/she used to, you can still involve them in the process. If your Mom always baked pumpkin pie during the holidays, have her cut and serve the pie. If Dad

was always in charge of the turkey, have him plate the turkey for everyone. 4. Use this as an opportunity to talk with family members about the future. Sometimes the holidays are the only time we get to see family members face to face. It’s important to start the conversation with key family members about a plan for you loved one once the holidays end. Step away from your loved one and check in with other family members on where they stand on getting help. And, if needed, consult an expert on your options for help outside of the family such as the possibility of a memory care community. Have questions about memory care? The senior living experts at Carefield Pleasanton are always here to help during this holiday season. Give our friendly team members a call at (925) 750-8744 or visit www.CarefieldPleasanton.com.

A Stained-Glass Collection Unlike Anywhere Else By Robert A. Gordon Jr., President & CEO of Cypress Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Resident since 2017

A

cross the Bay Area, Cypress Lawn is known for its natural beauty, but what many of our neighbors don’t know is our Memorial Park is also a treasure trove of architecture and design.

Mausoleum, along with its adjoining catacombs. This is where you will find kaleidoscopes of rich reds, blues, purples, and greens forming intricate patterns, blossoming flowers, and detailed landscapes.

Cypress Lawn is home to one of the largest collections of stained glass in North America, encompassing over 36,000 square feet of ceilings and windows located across our historic chapels, columbaria, and other structures.

You can also enjoy the natural light created by our stained-glass collection throughout our chapels, including our recently restored Noble Chapel.

The work of several renowned glass artists such as Frederick S. Lamb and Charles J. Connick can be found within our Memorial Park. World-famous artist and designer Louis Comfort Tiffany created customized stained-glass windows for several private mausoleums at Cypress Lawn. Architect Bernard J.S. Cahill was known for his love of natural light, which you can find in our Lakeside Columbarium and the Community

If you have visited Cypress Lawn before to appreciate our beautiful landscape but haven’t spent time exploring our history, art, sculptures, and stained-glass collection, we invite you to visit and see it for yourself. Whether you explore on your own or sign up for a free tour led by one of our trained docents, you won’t want to miss this treasure. SBA Loans 101 By Steve Layshock, Community Bank of the Bay

H

i I’m Steve Layshock, Often, finding small business financing can be difficult for newer entrepreneurs and growing small businesses. However, the Small Business Administration (SBA) loan programs can be a valuable resource by offering competitive rates, long repayment terms, and favorable interest rates. But, which loan is right for your business? We’re cutting through the red tape and making it easy to decide which SBA loan may be right for you. We’ve compiled a list of the most important things to know and consider before applying for a small business loan.

What types of Small Business Loans are available?

There are three main types of SBA loans that business owners apply for SBA 7(a), SBA Microloan, and SBA 504. Depending on your business’s needs, some may not apply to you. SBA 7(a) Loan: This is the most versatile type of loan as this funding can be utilized for nearly any type of expense or purchase. Loans can include purchasing real estate, equipment,

inventory, or for working capital. There are several subcategories of the SBA 7(a) loan, which offer specific funding options. SBA Microloan: Microloans are capped at $50,000 and are primarily used for working capital, repairing equipment, or purchasing inventory. SBA Microloans typically offer a higher interest rate than regular SBA 7(a) loans, as the lender has a bigger risk on a less established business. SBA 504 Loan: This loan can only be used for purchasing land, real estate, and heavy equipment. SBA 504 loans only require applicants to provide 10% of the loan amount. A lender will provide 50%, and the remaining 40% will come from a Certified Development Company (a non-profit organization that works towards economic development in their local communities). One of the most significant advantages of 504 loans is the low-interest rates.

What are the qualifications?

Each loan program has specific requirements that need to be met to be a qualified applicant. However, the baseline of conditions are: • • •

At least two years in business. A business credit score of at least 155. Consistent cash flow.

The SBA uses the FICO Small Business Scoring Service (SBSS) to evaluate loan applications instead of a personal credit score. The score is derived from the business owner’s credit bureau data, financials, and other factors to generate a number between 0 and 300.

What documents do I need to gather for a loan?

Most lenders will require you to submit an application that includes their application forms, along with several documents. Begin gathering the following items if you are considering applying for an SBA loan:

Y OUR LO C A L R EA L ESTATE PROF E SSIONAL 16 years of local real estate experience Over 85% of her business is repeat and referral In depth local market knowledge and pricing expertise Creates custom marketing campaigns for each client Creates custom hyper targeted digital advertising campaigns Manages whole process from pre market prep to post closing. Specific lenders may have other needs, but these essential documents are a good start for any SBA loan application.

Compare and select your lender.

San Ramon Valley High School

SRV Wolves end the year 7-3 By Ricky Helton, Resident since 2004

S

an Ramon Valley Wolves Varsity Football team ended their season with a 7-3 record . Of all the wins, the biggest of course would be beating Monte Vista and establishing bragging rights for the next year. This “Battle of the Ville” (ok, alright it’s Danville not the Ville) was a tough fought game, but the wolves appear to be getting hot at the right time The Wolves aren’t just stopping there. They’re already one win into the playoffs by beating Livermore 35-7. With a spread that big, i.t honestly never felt like a game, but hats off to the Livermore Cowboys for putting up a fight. This Friday (November) the Campolindo comes to town for round two of the playoffs. Go Wolves!

Cavallo Cowgirls Salute Veterans By Joyce Bohn, Resident since 2018

T

he Cavallo Cowgirls were one of two equestrian teams who participated in the Tri-Valley Veterans’ Day Parade on November 7, 2021. This year’s parade was dedicated to the Pleasanton Military Families Support Group, which has provided support to the local military community for over 20 years. About 60 entrants took part including veterans groups, elected officials, marching band and cheer teams, and local scout troops. The parade and ceremony were organized by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6298, American Legion Post 237, and the Association of the United States Army. The parade capped the end of a very successful competition and performance season for the Cowgirls. In 2020, competitions were cancelled

and practice time was limited due to Covid-19. However, hard work and perseverance paid off in 2021 as the team was awarded five trophies in September at the 2021 California State Horsemen’s Associate (CSHA) Champion in Ceres, California. The team, pictured here, took first place in the mixed division, first place in Theme ride, and second place in the overall competition. They also received the Fan Favorite trophy and Judge’s Special Recognition trophy for their contributions to the sport and community service. Their success is notable because they competed against larger teams, several of which have older members that have been riding together for several years. The Cavallo Cowgirls Drill Team was founded in January of 2016. They deliver

precise, fast paced performances to music at various drill team competitions. The team also performs at shows, rodeos, and parades throughout the season. Teamwork, leadership skills, and service to the community are their guiding principles. The coaches provide a positive influence that assists each rider in achieving her highest riding potential. Parents and grandparents also play a supporting role, and there is ample opportunity for socializing after practice, at team cookouts and fundraising events. This year’s team was composed of nine young women aged 14 to 26. For two of the riders, this was their last year on the team as they entered college this fall. The girls and their families live in Danville, Pleasanton, Livermore and Tracy. They are coached by Shauna Ketcham and Samantha Walker. The team is seeking new riders to join this winning team for next year. Both experienced and novice riders are encouraged to visit the website: https://cavallocowgirls. com and contact Shauna at Circle J Ranch in Livermore.

Full Blown Holiday Survival Kit (Chapter 2) By Christina Dalton, MS, PPS, PCC, EYH Life Coach

T

he turkey has been carved and the Thanksgiving dishes have been stored away. May I safely assume that you survived Chapter 1 of the holiday season; reflected on your triggers and had those important conversations we talked about last month? Ah - but you know as well as I do that the fun is only starting. From now through the New Year, the commercials that invade all electronic devices, to the holiday songs and merchandise in every store, it becomes impossible to escape the expectations of the season. In part two of our “Being our best self during the holidays”, may I invite you to explore more tools and techniques that I promised to share last month. Let’s focus on the opportunities of self-awareness and “right sizing” this holiday season to help you rise above expected and also unpredictable challenges you may face that pull you under from being your best self. As I explore what this holiday season will mean to me in all the hats I will wear - from wife, mother, sister, granddaughter, friend,…. you know the list, it occurs to me that I need to explore how to reframe the demands created by me and by others. I can’t change those around me. However, I can be more self aware of what my trigger points are and what I need. The following are suggestions of how to create joy in the holiday season. Self-awareness is a powerful tool. This means that we are aware how we feel when stressful moments erupt. It also recognizes the tools we have within ourselves to control those moments. How do you handle yourself when things are not going smoothly? This can be prompted by just about anything from preparing for guests, maneuvering uncomfortable conversations, transitions that have happened over the last year such as the loss of a loved one, to divorce or a falling out of relationships. It could even be about navigating the schedules of a blended family. To start, recognize how your body and mind feel when stress takes over who you are. Practice simple relaxation exercises to allow the stress to dissipate. In coaching, my clients and I develop uncomplicated physical and mental relaxation devices to manage their stress levels. Front load your safety plan now to create support for yourself. Who can be on your team to “catch” you when the overwhelming sensations occur? It could be your spouse, an adult child, or even a good friend. Converse ahead of time what you are anticipating and what you may need from them to support you in these difficult moments. With the help of your support person, you may consider taking a short pause and leaving for a quieter room or even taking a walk. The goal is to have the opportunity to refocus, reframe, and regroup. As little as 15 minutes may be all you need to reframe what is causing you stress. Where residents find and recommend the best local, trusted businesses

If, in the past, the holidays have been suffocating for you, consider “right sizing” what your holiday should look like. Create your holidays to fit your best self. This may mean pacing your entertainment, or keeping your gatherings smaller. Revisiting the part of the holiday that invites the biggest anxiety may be valuable to reframe it. Then contemplate how you can change that tradition to meet your needs without compromising the true reason for this tradition. Consider delegating some of the responsibilities on to other members of the gatherings. It’s OK if you are recognizing that you don’t have to be a superhero. What if an unexpected comment is made or something you looked forward to “flops”? How can you find humor in that moment to relieve the unnecessary feelings you may be experiencing? The opportunities to find shades of gray in how you react to the situation can make the difference between an amazing holiday gathering versus one you wish you could erase from your memory. Occasionally the holidays might be a time to let go of some of your favorite traditions because of a change in your family, friends or circumstances. By keeping your perspective open as you define new traditions may offer new possibilities for this holiday season. For instance, my son-in-law, a firefighter, had to work this Thanksgiving. As a family, we agreed on a different day to fully celebrate the holiday. Adult children may have to split the holidays with parents and in-laws. And of course, if a family member had experienced a divorce, compromises may need to happen between the families. To have a less stressed and more joyous holiday celebration, recognize the challenging moments early. A common theme in a coaching session is “If you can name it, you can manage it.” Plan early to manage best who you want to be this holiday. Create possibilities to allow yourself to let go. And of course, allow forgiveness for yourself. You don’t have to achieve perfection: you are supposed to have fun. You want to do more than just survive the holidays. You want to thrive! May these coaching suggestions help to make for a magical holiday season and a safe and healthy 2022. After all, it is about you first so that you can be your best for others.

Pet of the Month

Meet the Pet of the Month: Eddie Boo Boo By Sophie Bloch, Resident since 1992

E

ddie Boo Boo is a one-of-a kind rescue, a scruffy little mutt picked up while wandering the streets of Dublin. He had no collar and no chip, but he must’ve been treated well enough in his life before (phew!) because he loves and trusts humans right away; someone had even taught him how to offer a paw for a shake! Eddie was the name given to him at the shelter. Nowadays he almost exclusively goes by Eddie Boo Boo, but he will also answer to Eddie Spaghetti, Booskies and “I have meats.” Eddie Boo Boo is the oldest of three, although his two younger sisters happen to be actual children. His favorite time of day is any time they are snacking, because it means guaranteed crumbs. Needing to be warm is a close second to treats on Eddie’s likes list; he will grumble at you until you let him outside to lay in the sun during the day, and he has a doggie sleeping bag that he uses every night (it’s actually a product meant for cats, but this is something Eddie never has to know). Eddie Boo Boo is an expert snuggler, the sweetest soul and the Bloch-Rollins family hopes for thirteen more years of him!

Cooking Corner

Kris Kringle Cranberry Cookies By Stephanie Seaberg, Resident since 2010

C

hristmas time is here! I’ve never been much for material things when it comes to holiday gifts. I am, and always will be, a sucker for anything handmade and sentimental. A batch of homemade Christmas cookies is truly a gift made with love that you can give to anyone…..even that one person that’s hard to shop for. These Kris Kringle cranberry cookies have a fantastic texture and reasonably simple ingredients that I always have in my kitchen. But most importantly, they are not what I call “disgustingly sweet” which I often notice in many cookies. “Just sweet enough” is a great way to describe them. Hopefully, these cookies will end up at your dessert table this Christmas season. “I will honor Christmas in my heart and try to keep it all the year” - Charles Dickens

You will Need • • • • • •

12 C. White sugar 1 C. Veg. oil 1/3 C. Molasses 2 Eggs 2 C. All purpose flour 1 tsp. Baking powder

• • • • •

1 tsp. Baking soda 1 tsp. Salt 1 tsp. Cinnamon 2 C. Quick cooking oats, uncooked 1/2 Dried cranberries

• •

1 C. Flaked coconut 1/2 C. Chopped pecans or walnuts

Putting it together

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a medium size bowl, blend the sugar, vegetable oil, molasses and eggs together with an electric mixer until smooth and set aside. In another medium-size bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder and cinnamon. Add the sugar mixture and stir well. Next, stir in the oats, cranberries, coconut, and nuts. L

ast year was a bust. All our plans for family gatherings, winter vacation get-a-ways, ballet performances, concerts, ski trips, and soccer championships were all cancelled. This year, we are told that our shopping lists may not be fulfilled in time for the holidays because all the expected shipments of the new and best holiday gifts might not make it off the loading dock at the port. So, once again, our holiday season may be compromised or not as expected. BUT…….This year can be something special. The timing might be perfect to buy that second home. Equities are still increasing for our current homes. Why not leverage that with a place that the whole family can enjoy for years to come. Or, maybe buy a place that can ultimately be your retirement residence. The new generation (Gen X and Z) is more about experiences than buying things. A second home in a beautiful area can provide everyone in the family a unique experience every time they visit. This home can be the place where everyone gathers, reconnects and recharges from everyday life. They can experience walks on the beach, or hikes in the mountains, or unique city history tours. Start researching now. Where would you love to have a second home? Dream big. Get inspired. The holidays are always fun to shop for luxury. Here are some luxury homes for sale in areas that are awe inspiring. Enjoy your holidays and I will see you around town, Janice 925-580-7482

5 Interior Design Trends We’re Here For in 2022 By Casey Howard, Casey Howard Interior Design Photography by Thomas Kuoh, Kuoh Photography

T

he trends that will reign in the new year speak to a collective need for comfort, value, and connection to nature. It’s no surprise that after the period we have endured, we all crave softness in our environments. We’re looking forward to these 5 design trends for 2022: NATURAL COLOR PALETTES As brands announce their “Color of the Year”, a clear trend is emerging: neutrals and nature-inspired hues, like Benjamin Moore’s October Mist and Evergreen Fog from Sherwin Williams, are here for a reason. Calming color palettes like warm and cool beiges, soothing blues, and soft, earthy greens, comfort and connect us with our surroundings. ROUND SHAPES Goodbye sharp edges, hello curves! From pillows, to sofas, to cabinetry, round shapes exploded in 2021, and aren’t slowing down. We adore this trend for the freshness that

soft shapes bring to a space and the ways we can layer round and right angles to boost visual interest. This trend affirms the collective need for soothing environments through the softness of shape.

textiles. Marble, onyx, light woods, linen, cotton, and handmade ceramics are perfectly on trend for 2022, and plants of all varieties bring nature indoors, adding life, texture, and organic colors to a space.

MINIMALISM 2022 ushers in a return to minimalism with a focus on airy, open spaces. Less is more, and especially so when done thoughtfully and with intention. When combined with natural color palettes and round shapes, this year’s minimalism is the antithesis of severity -- it carries deeper meaning and the calmness evoked by negative space.

FLEXIBLE SPACES After the realization that our homes had to serve as workplace, classroom, gym, and beyond in 2020, it’s no surprise that flexible spaces and mult-functional furniture are here to stay. We’ve been designing rooms that function as office, craftsroom, learning center and more, as well as custom cabinetry that reveals a workspace during office hours, and hides it away. Square footage is more valuable than ever and our homes should maximize that value in daily life.

The NINE Loan: Common Sense, Non-traditional, even Revolutionary! For the way you live today. By W. Todd Galde, CrossCountry Mortgage

T

raditional home loans focus on traditional income and employment. These days, that leaves a lot of people out. It’s time for a home loan that recognizes your full financial picture. Meet The NINE Loan: No Income, No Employment. Your strong financial profile is the key. You may have the financial means to get a loan for your primary residence, but standard documents don’t tell the whole story. Rigid income and employment requirements may restrict your chances of getting a conventional home loan. The NINE Loan relies on a strong down payment, good credit history, and robust post-closing reserves. The NINE Loan can help: • Self-employed people with low verifiable income. • Individuals and families who want to buy a new home before they sell the current one. • Retirees with little or no verifiable income who need funds to renovate their home. • Real estate investors buying their primary residence • People who want a vacation home but can’t qualify on their current income. • Professional athletes or entertainers with unique income (signing bonuses, short-term contracts). • Restaurant owners who need capital.

May your home be filled with joy, love, and laughter this holiday season.

The NINE Loan offers financing for your primary residence by recognizing your unique circumstances, without the hassle of demanding traditional paperwork. We look beyond the requirements of a conventional loan. Instead, we consider:

TVAR Spotlight: Opie By Sue James, Tri-Valley Animal Rescue

Opie - Shelter Dog At The East County Animal Shelter

OPIE HAS A NEW HOME!! Meet Opie, a 4 year old Whippet mix that was surrendered to the East County Animal Shelter because his family, who had him since he was a puppy, were moving and couldn’t take Opie with them. At the shelter he was too shut down and timid to be made available for adoption. Recognizing that this sweet and gentle boy just did not understand what was happening to him, TVAR made him one of our “special projects”. He just needed Tender Loving Care to mend his broken heart. While TVAR looked for a foster, Opie blossomed at the shelter and was put up for adoption. Within a week or two Opie was adopted by a loving person who fell for Opie just as we did. Dogs like Opie who need that extra time and attention are given that second chance because of TVAR’s shelter and foster volunteers. And we get the joy of seeing a deserving dog get adopted and find his new forever home.

Tri-Valley Animal R escue (T var) Giving Them Another Chance

TVAR is a locally based and volunteer run 501(c)3 animal rescue organization. We assist in saving over 1,000 animals yearly in the TriValley and surrounding areas. We are celebrating just short of 30 years

of saving lives with over 250 local volunteers. At TVAR, we rely solely on Public Support to fund our life saving programs. All TVAR’s foster animals go directly from the local Animal Shelter into foster homes where they receive much needed love and socialization and where they are kept until adopted. Foster families get to know each animal’s personality and needs in a home setting allowing TVAR to find the right match so kittens, puppies, dogs and cats - and adopters - thrive! We also have an invaluable Shelter Program where our volunteers spend countless hours every day at the local shelter caring for and socializing the Dogs, Puppies, Cats and Kittens, and helping them find new forever homes as we did with Opie.
