Who doesn't love a good party? When was the last time you were in a room filled with charismatic theater legends belting out some of your favorite show tunes in an intimate space with friends? This is just another normal night at the Birdland Jazz club in New York City. Jim Caruso is the razor-sharp master of razzle-dazzle behind this high energy, nonstop, show stopper that will leave you glowing with nostalgia and whispering to your friends "Oh my God, I love this song!" Celebrating it's 15 year anniversary, Caruso is bringing his famed theater extravaganza 'Cast Party' to The Jazz Room at Village Theater, performing one night only, Friday, January 18th at 8pm. “You kids are helping keep the American Songbook alive!” Tony Bennett What began as a casual gathering of theater singers to serenade one another with their favorite show tunes, quickly grew in popularity and was organically transformed into what cast party is today, a soirée of songs both old and new covering everything from Hello Dolly to Hamilton. It goes without saying that great music couldn't happen without a great pianist. Billy Stritch lends his titillating fingertips on the baby grand along with a carefree, off-the-cuff persona that will make you laugh and tap your feet all night. Caruso and Stritch have a show that can be described as anything but routine or predictable. With a constantly evolving guest list, it is impossible to foresee the barrage of performers slated to take the stage. Icons of Broadway, as well as up-and-coming artists both local and from afar, provide loose and playful performances of songs that they have personally chosen, some of which may surprise you. The audience is just as much a part of the show as its singers. With a show this infectious, it wouldn't surprise you to hear your hosts shout out "Altogether now!" as the entire room swells with the final note of All that Jazz. 'Cast Party' has toured through London, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, Austin, Dallas, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Miami as well as the Lincoln Center in Manhattan. 'Cast Party' has been honored with three Broadway World Awards, a MAC Award, Bistro Award and a Night Life Award.
