PROJECT BACKGROUND Tai Cang City has a long history, with a deep culture, which has drawn a momentary literary excellence more on depending on gardens history especially. But with the times changes, the natural world and artificial are damaged, the structure of people’s park is loose. And the layout is unreasonable while the spot is short comparatively. Achieve garden gimmick is obsolete. The Scale, facilities and the grade of the park could not fit in with its present city position and social development. So it should be made over.

PROJECT BACKGROUND
Originating from fishing, making its people living by fishing in ancient times, Shanghai has already developed into a bustling metropolis, which was divided into Shanghai Pu and Xiahai Pu in early days. Although Xiahai Pu wasn't based on fishing as a mainly industry, it still doesn't get rid of the poverty in old days. The base of this design is Xiahai Temple located in Xiahai Pu.

Status analysis Xiahai Temple is located in North Bund Protected Area in Hongkou District, where the surrounding folk houses are wretched with the large population and the residents living in poverty, which makes a striking contrast to the condition in downtown. While belonged to Holy Land as Chenghuang Temple, Xiahai Temple shows a huge difference that its shops around the street usually have much smaller scale and the special industry relating to religion hasn't shamed up.

Even it is difficult to find a restaurant until walking 500 meters away. There are a lot of small retailers around Xiahai Temple, but most of them take their business operating without license accompanied with the severe sanitary condition on street. Because of a home for the old on the north side, old people become the majority in this area.
The development space of Xiahai Temple is limited and the temple is difficult to protect Cramped Space

The Co-prosperity and Co-existence
Xiahai Temple covers 4800 square meters with a cramped inner space, not fir for large activities, which becomes a big obstacle to its development. The buildings in the temple were all repaired in 1996. However, the improper handling of the inner landscape, the mess arrangement of plants, the landscape facilities without unique feature and surrounded high rise buildings make a large discount in its religious atmosphere. MASTER PLAN Design Idea This scheme is designed with the auspicious clouds and spoondrift patterns as the major elements. The auspicious cloud is the symbol of Buddhism while the spoondrift is the symbol of Shipping Culture. However, the Xiahai Temple accommodates these two cultures at the same time. The pattern of auspicious cloud is similar to that of spoondrift; the both of them are with liquidity and progressive. Since the shape of this area is similar to a bow of ship, this design implies the scene that the ship of Xiahai Temple is tracing the history origin led by the spoondrift, while carrying forward the Buddhist culture with the cover of auspicious clouds.

Introduction The hotel and conference center will be a high capacity five star resort built around an expanded courtyard lake. After a long day at a conference, guests can relax as they wander the many paths, exercise at the athletic facilities, of dine at hotel's waterfront restaurant. As one walks down the wooden causeway the serenity of the surroundings can be enjoyed. A cherry tree will flower in the spring, lotus will bloom in the summer, and the sound of the bamboo will be heard lightly rustling in the wind. At the end of the pond stands a classically designed pavilion where one can sit and reflect. This site will be a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of the city outside.

PROJECT BACKGROUND Stockholm is growing and there is currently an urgent need to meet the increasing development pressures with planning. The Stockholm region currently has close to 2 million residents, and is expected to grow by more than 600 000 people by 2030. The inner city becomes increasingly dense and has to extend which will bring a big presure to the survive of original nature areas, especially in places with effective transport and public transport. Simply protecting the nature couldn't make sure the preservation of nature. This project chooses norra Djurg책rden as specific nature area, and then through the plan and design of Albano which is the surrounding area of norra Djurg책rden to explore the possibilities of new ways to interact between urban and nature. Albano will be the specific place to test this new interaction, and is the real place to complete the transition.

nature resource
Albano is surrounded by valuable nature resources. The huge area of wild nature and adjuncts included Albano is belonged to The Royal National City Park. contains a cross-section of the majority of the natural features that occur in Svealand: deciduous and coniferous forests, meadows and pastures, wetlands, lakes and watercourses. This area offers many opportunities for enjoyable encounters with nature. The range of its flora and fauna is extensive and includes a large number of rare and, in some cases, endangered species.

From the Stockholm Version 2030, new constructions will be built along 'the ring'. Along the north link, there are another three sections interact with the nature part as well. However, they are all consisting of single functional programs. The Karolinska Institutet and the KTH main campus both have the connection with the nature. But they are made of education and research programs. The just involve in the students and researchers. The ropsten area is more like a residential area. The main purpose of this area focuses on the housing and community. Only residents will be attracted and involved in the activities about the nature. Then, it makes Albano the only perfect site for transition. Nowadays, Albano is a place with basically nothing. It has huge potential comparing to other places.

PROJECT BACKGROUND Stockholm is a city made of thousands of islands, which could be called built on the water. Waterfronts in Stockholm are important parts in the city. In the central Stockholm, most of the waterfronts are physically accessible for people and vehicles. However, if we regard the waterfronts which need to be paid for activities or not attractive as mentally not accessible, then the proportion of the accessibility of the waterfronts will decrease a lot. Making the waterfronts public and accessible could add the activeness of Stockholm both for residents and visitors. This project, which Beckholmen is chosen as a specific case study is trying to deal with the rich waterfront resources on Beckholmen to find a way to make waterfronts public/accessible and diverse. Water plays the significant role in both Stockholm and Beckholmen. Beckholmen cannot be planned or designed without considering the water and waterfronts. Taking advantages of the water and waterfront which on Beckholmen, the levels of the water and the grass are quite close could help to activate the life on Beckholmen. This project tries to work through reprograming the waterfronts on Beckholmen by studying the typical waterfronts around Beckholmen in Stockholm to regenerate the renew Beckholmen.

Most of the waterfonts in Stockholm belong to type C. In the above charts, Section No.1,2,4,6,7,8,9 are following this type. This kind of waterfont is accessible for people mostly, sometimes also for vehicles as well. It's convenient for boats/ships transporting goods and passangers, and at the same time remains the open view. Comparing to type A, it makes people losing the feeling of 'on the water'. The steer cut keeps reminding people of 'the distance'. According to the situation of Beckholmen, the eastern part (both the open area and closed area) is suitalbe for type C.

Type B and Type D are natural types. In the above charts, Section 3 belongs to type B while Section 5 is combination of type A and type D. These two type are environmental friendly and useful for cleaning up the pollution if combined by new technologies. Type A, B, C, D could be used in the western part of Beckholmen. For the selected important points, type C is helpful for sight seeing. For the rest of the waterfonts, type C could be used for boating parking. Type B and D could be used for water/ solid purification.

PROJECT BACKGROUND Did you know? that transportation accounts for 10 percent of the co2 emissions; that the average number of miles that our food travels has doubled in 30 years; that air freight is the fastest growing mode of food transport – it accounts for 11 per cent of the food industry’s transport emissions It has only taken a few years for Hammarby Sjöstad to become one of the world’s highest profile examples of Sustainable City Development, mentioned in specialist publications worldwide. Hammarby Sjöstad is visited by over 10,000 decision makers and specialists in the field every year, making it one of Stockholm’s most important destinations. But as one of the most famous successful examples, what is the future of it? How to continue the success? In this project, We discuss the future of Hammarby Sjöstad and provide one senario in 2040 through discussing three important aspects.
