Gallery serving as the “face” of a multi-billion dollar project by UDA, Ecoworld and Malaysia’s sovereign fund, EPF. The concept, same-same but different, was derived from the programmatic need to operate 2 separate autonomous galleries but yet project an image of unity. The organic language of curves and gradients allowed the design of a series of more inclusive plans with could be seamlessly combined or segmented resulting in 2 halves linked visually by a projecting canopy and shared vehicular drop off.
Inspired by the catenary and membrane structures of Frei Otto. Karamba and grasshopper were used to aid in building an efficient structure to see how tension and compression forces effect and guide the final form.
Redevelopment surrounding the new Central to Eveleigh corridor means more people and a greater need for good public space. The station is designed as a continuation of the public realm and a new landmark in the new urban masterplan.
The KL Art Centre aims to revive the old town through its dying craft culture to induce a ripple effect to nearby towns. Creating an urban accupuncture. The concept was the idea of undesigning. Making the hand of the architect inconspicuous so the art and artist takes centre stage. Acting as an antidote to the recent architecture around the area that indulges in a form of attention grabbing sculptural facade.
As retail changes and the historical city centre no longer support this. Working, living, shopping are no longer in close proximity. Bring money and life out of the largely forgotten centre. This project aim to revive the historical fabric at a time when the city becomes less capable of creating public space. Inspired by the porosity and openness of the famous Malaysian street market. Creating a new landmark in KL.
A mixed-use development on Oxford Street. Consisting of a homeless shelter, food court, offices and residences. Exploring how the concept and act of xenia can be made visible through urban and architectural gestures. Allowing others to participate and act in the same ways. The building brings together different users of the street and allow for serendipitous chance encounters.

OXFORD STREET HUB - DESIGN EXPLORATION The individual building elements are explored to see how the design can be more inclusive of more users. Inspired by the works of Olafur Eliasson , the elements of surprise created through the subtle design gestures makes people turn from passive bystanders to active participants. And by giving us a choice to engage in it, it shows how our actions have consequences. It raises questions on how things can otherwise be, questions on who really owns the public space of Sydney, who really owns the nigth life of Sydney in regards to the Lock Out Law imposed and how if I vote, take a stand, or choose to act, it can make a difference. The ground floor is made transparent to make it more visually permeable.
Shelter for the tracks below follows the same language, growing out of the ground and provides public furniture
Station as an opportunity to build an landmark design. Also an opportunity to address the extreme difference in scale on both side of the rail corridor.
Hidden pockets encourage exploration. Woonerfs slow down cars making it more pedestrian friendly. The station program are separated in distinctive blocks mimics the urban form and scale. While the open nature of the plan ensure a continuity from the public realm creating a park like space. PAGE 13
