MID WEEK SPECIAL Central Ohio Crime Stoppers is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect involved in an ATM Theft. On Friday, January 8, 2016, just before 6:30pm, a patron made a debit card transaction at the Fifth Third Bank ATM located at 2883 Taylor Road in Reynoldsburg. This location is near the Walmart at Taylor Square. Unfortunately, the patron mistakenly forgot to remove the bank card from the machine before leaving. At approximately 6:30pm, bank cameras captured the image of an unidentified male who pulled up to the ATM machine, saw the previous person’s debit card (still in the machine) and instead of doing the right thing by turning the card into the bank, used the victim’s card to withdraw cash from their account. The suspect is described as: Male/White, 40-50 years old, medium to heavy build, short dark hair and receding hair line, clean shaven, wearing a light colored jacket with what appears to be a gray neck scarf. The suspect vehicle appears to be a Nissan product, medium to dark blue in color. A bank photograph of the suspect can be viewed on our website at www.stopcrime.org. Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for any information leading to the arrest and/or indict-
ment of the person(s) responsible for this crime. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477) or go to our website at www.stopcrime.org and e-mail your tip. You can text a tip to “CRIMES” 274637, key word CMH. Crime Stoppers does not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations. A special coding system protects the identity of the caller. Crime Stoppers also takes calls from persons with information about any felony. Information leading to the arrest and/or indictment of a felony suspect could qualify the caller for a reward as determined by the Crime Stoppers Board of Directors. For more information on Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, visit our website at www.stopcrime.org. Crime Stoppers is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization. Reward money comes from private individuals, businesses, and foundations that see Crime Stoppers as an integral tool in the community’s fight against crime. Tax-deductible donations can be sent to Central Ohio Crime Stopper’s, Inc., P.O. BOX 16038, COLUMBUS, OH. 43216-6038.

CRIME OF THE WEEK This week’s “Crime of the Week” focuses on the shooting of a child which took place in Columbus.
Nathaniel Jones
On Friday, March 4, 2016, at 10:38pm, Columbus Police received and responded to the call of a shooting at 982 Duxberry Avenue. Upon the officers’ arrival in the area, they were flagged down by persons who informed them that a small child had been shot inside the residence. Once inside, the officers found a juvenile male, identified as 5-year old Nathaniel Jones, in a back bedroom suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics were immediately summoned and transported Nathaniel to Nationwide Children's Hospital, in critical condition, where he underwent surgery to address his injury. All witness accounts and further investigation have determined that the shooting was not a "drive-by" shooting but that the shots came from somewhere in the immediate area in the neighborhood. At last report, Nathaniel is still listed in critical condition, but has shown improvement over the past couple of days. A photo of Nathaniel may be viewed on our website at www.stopcrime.org. Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for any information leading to the arrest and/or indictment of the person(s) responsible for this crime. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477) or go to our web-
site at www.stopcrime.org and email your tip. You can text a tip to “CRIMES” 274637, key word CMH. Crime Stoppers does not use Caller ID or record telephone conversations. A special coding system protects the identity of the caller. Crime Stoppers also takes calls from persons with information about any felony. CBS reporter arrested at cancelled Chicago rally described racism he faced from Trump supporters
CBS News journalist Sopan Deb
4
CBS News journalist Sopan Deb was in Chicago reporting Friday night from the political rally scheduled at the University of Illinois at Chicago Pavilion when he was caught amid the chaos created by both GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump’s planned rally and its cancellation. “I’ve never seen anything like what I’m witnessing in my life,” Deb tweeted about the unrest and violence. Recent events are indeed unprecedented, at least in the last few decades. Trump has surged forward to become the party’s front runner. His campaign rallies draw thousands of supporters. But they have also devolved into racially-charged violence and chaos.

After a tense, violent rally in St. Louis on Friday morning, at which Trump was regularly interrupted by demonstrators and an African-American activist was left bloody, Trump cancelled his rally in Chicago. Not only did Deb get knocked down without warning and arrested by Chicago police, he was charged with resisting, which video of the incident contradicts. The video is posted below. “There’s definitely been a recent uptick [in hostility],” Deb said in an interview with CBS. “I have certainly never seen anything like last night. That was unprecedented.” But Deb has personally faced racism while doing his job covering the Trump campaign, as recorded on his Twitter feed.

Man who spent 39 years in prison confronts Clinton on death penalty Hillary Clinton appeared deeply uncomfortable when confronted on her support for the death penalty by a man wrongfully imprisoned for 39 years. In a powerful moment at Sunday night's Democratic presidential town hall in Ohio, the former secretary of State fielded a question from Ricky Jackson, who was exonerated in 2014 after spending most of his life in prison — including time on death row — for a murder he didn't commit. Clinton grimaced as Jackson recounted his painful story and closed by asking her, "How can you still take your stance on the death penalty in light of what you know right now?" The Democratic front-runner gave a halting answer, clearly still grappling with her heavily qualified position on the death penalty. Clinton says she still supports the death penalty but only for extreme terrorism cases that end up under federal jurisdiction. Clinton's rival, Bernie Sanders, opposes the death penalty in all circumstances. "This is such a profoundly difficult question," Clinton told the audience at the town hall, televised by CNN. "I have said I would breathe a sigh of relief if either the Supreme Court or the states themselves began to eliminate the death penalty." "Where I end up is this," she said. "And maybe it's a distinction that is hard to support. ... The kind of crimes I'm thinking of are the bombing in Oklahoma City ... the plotters and the people who carried out the attacks on 9/11. "But a very limited use of it in cases where there has been horrific mass killings. That's really the exception that I still am struggling with. And that would only be in the federal system. "But what happened to you," she told Jackson, "is a travesty."
