ELEVEN DAYS OF DAREBIN WIDE CELEBRATION


SATURDAY 29 OCTOBER 1Pm – 9pm A curated day of FREE, genre-smashing festivities, art and music. This year, we open the 20th Anniversary of Darebin Music Feast in our brand new hub, Preston Fresh Hood – a place that brings together food, art and live music to the Preston Market site, in the heart of Darebin. Internationally acclaimed artist and curator Joseph O’Farrell (JOF) is taking over the abandoned Bingo Hall (upstairs) for one day only! This all-day event includes local commissions, live acts, activities for the little ones and interactive art installations, not to mention the number one BBQ concept act... The Burnt Sausages!

Kids Programming 1pm – 2pm Big and little humans will get their creative energies flowing with circus, drawing and movement classes. Teen Programming 3pm – 6pm Witness the rock stars of tomorrow across gigs, sound installations and art works by some of Darebin’s brightest young talent. Into the Night Programming 6pm – 9pm Come party and play bingo with some of Melbourne’s best and fresh local produce.


THE RESERVOIR STOMP

On Sunday 30 October the Preston Reservoir Bowls Club will throw open its doors for the biggest suburban shindig of the year: the Reservoir Stomp. It’s an event run by locals for locals…and anyone else who’s ever been too afraid to venture beyond Bell Street to attend a gig. Midday until late Tickets $20

The Stomp celebrates Reservoir’s diverse talent base, with more than 20 of its finest exponents of dance, comedy, funk, soul, salsa, garage, rockabilly, hip hop and punk. To top it off, there’ll be an incredible All Stars Band playing hits from Quentin Tarantino’s iconic Reservoir Dogs soundtrack, barefoot bowls and local food vendors.

A moveable feast for all the senses! Saturday 5 November, 2pm – 6pm Various Venues

A non-stop venue hop, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Darebin Music Feast with 20 great artists in four fabulous hours! Including performances by Dianas, Tim Richmond Group, Steve Boyd’s Rum Reverie and more! Join a crowd of music and food lovers to make your way through a selection of bars and cafes enjoying live music at each stop. Hoppers can take a route from Reservoir to Preston or from Northcote to Preston. Hopping along is free, but registration is requested for your travelling comfort.

A celebration of these two luxuriant musicians and fashion icons. Get your sequins on and join us at the new Fresh Hood in Preston to pay tribute and party-party! Music is for everybody so why are all the rock stars grown-ups? This year, Darebin Arts’ Loud Mouth has jam-packed Music Feast with an array of inclusive and accessible FREE and ticketed events for the whole family to bop along to!

Kiddyrock Workshops Wednesday 2 – Friday 4 November, 9.30am – 10.15am, Northcote Town Hall An all dancing, all drumming, afro-beat inspired workshop for children aged 2–5 and their carers. Bookings are essential! Thursday morning’s workshop is Auslan interpreted.

Musical Chairs by Invisible Orchestra & Polyglot Theatre Saturday 5 November, 10am – 5pm, Northcote Town Hall

An exciting free musical experiment for children aged 4+ and their adults, where sounds are created with your body in the most unconventional and hilarious ways! We invite you to drop by, use your imagination (and your bum) to shimmy, squash, bump and bop your way around the orchestra. Check website for session times.

Closing Party Sunday 6 November, 11am – 1pm, Preston Fresh Hood at Preston Market Get the party started with Useful Songs for Little People by Teeny Tiny Stevies. Then, get ready to rock with Tessa Waters’ How To Be A Rock Star. A high-energy show about body positivity and feeling like a rock star. Part disco, part rock-star training, kids will kick off the closing party learning essential skills to explode the dance floor!

Curated by JOF and performed by local participants Bear witness as a keen and mighty collection of local guitarists and heavy metal enthusiasts play the iconic and immortal Metallica hit Enter Sandman. All at once and all together, a barrage of guitars will fill the air in this unique and glorious live music experience. It’s a celebration of teenage rebellion, the journey of playing in a garage band and turning up your stereo to 11 to live your rock star dream. Be part of rock history!
