If it’s not in the magazine, then we bring it to you online. We are not like other magazines, we take the time to cultivate and bring you work that has depth, and is not all surface. Dark Beauty™ started with one simple idea, to support artist who tend to be turned away. We wanted to share work that was quality, had meat to it and was rich in a story. I think we are doing a pretty good job at it so far. Five years doesn’t seem like a long time, but in the big picture, it’s a magical number and we couldn’t have done it without you. We are the greatest inspiration bible. We can’t wait to reach our next milestone as we also crossed over a million fans on Facebook. Let’s celebrate together with this amazing issue. My name is Camden Sutkowski, and I am a model and photographer. Modeling is a passion of mine that I have invested so much of my time and effort in. However, at 5’7”, it seems as though no one will take me seriously as a model. Since my height made it much harder for me to find work, I opted to build my portfolio on my own. With my creativity and drive, I have taken my own photos to show my capabilities as a model, and I have used the experience to construct a body of work that I can look back on and be proud of. Height shouldn’t be the determining characteristic of a model; a person’s ambition, drive, and refusal to quit should be considered. I will not stop trying because I cannot stop. This is my dream, and I will do all in my power to reach it.

modeling, I typically use my camera to photograph nature. How do you manage a project? Do you prefer a team, or being a one stop shop? Why?

For the most part, I’ve only ever worked alone, and I sometimes prefer it that way. When I am alone, I have full control over everything. It’s better for me because I have that instant feedback. I take my own photos, and I can look at them right after I take them to see what I like and what I don’t like. From there, I can adjust everything accordingly and get right back into it. Also, for me, I’m a perfectionist, so I take a lot of time with each look and each photo shoot. The majority of people I have worked with don’t like to spend In the process of building my portfolio, I also much longer than one to two hours on a project. developed a love for photography. Living in the Past Photographer & Stylist : Laurie-Lou Model : Marie D Mua / Hair / Nails : Angie Moullin

25 years old, French, ex model, analog photography lover, prefers girls without make up, disturbing atmospheres and outdated films. What is your style? Describe it. I am my own style. The photo is a great outlet for me, sometimes a confessional. I would have difficulty determining a specific style because my productions are an extension of my own personality. I like that my photos are real, it tells a story. Do you plan the entire shoot concept, or have help? Yes, I take care of the whole artistic direction of my shoots. As editoriales stories I like to tell are from my aspirations and my past, I need to control everything. Of course once the scenario is set up, I check my teams to reap the critics who would benefit me to develop the best possible shooting. A photographer is nothing without his team. Are you self taught, educate? College, online classes, tutorials, Self Taught? What steps did you take to learn your craft? I am self-taught. When I was a model, I could not imagine to find myself on the other side of the lens. Photography attracted me when I realized the precious from what was offered to me to immortalize. The mastery of the tools then came naturally to me. 70

I learned from my mistakes and start trying to make things better. I started by argentic photography, I learned to develop my pictures with a very good teacher and now I start from scratch with digital and photoshop. Learning lasts forever! What inspires you for a shoot? Why? I am inspired by all the emotional dimensions of life. I like my photography makes its audience react, it recalls a memory, a thought, a desire, always something real. I am inspired by the truth of an emotion. Who would you like to shoot? Celebrities, model, designer? Why? (Not original I guess) Kate Moss. To test my resistance to pressure. Aha Who is your favorite designer? Why? Yves Saint Laurent. I like his style, the elegance of his modern cuts, his ability to transcend trends to become the trend. But above all, I love that he stayed an artist until his death. How do you want to inspire the world? Why? I do not want to inspire the world. I do not pretend to be able to. I give just a truth that makes me feel good, and I hope it will be good for someone else.
