4 EDITORIAL Transportation plays a crucial role in a nation’s development. In the Philippines, jeepneys have been a prominent means of public transportation since the end of World War II. However, as time has changed, demands for modernization have intensified. The Jeepney Modernization Program presents several potential benefits. Firstly, the shift to electric or cleaner-burning engines can significantly reduce air pollution, enhance urban air quality, and lessen the effect of carbon emissions on climate change. This eco-friendly strategy advances sustainable mobility. Furthermore, for safety features, jeepneys come with better seats, air conditioning, airbags, seatbelts, and CCTV cameras, as well as automated fare collection systems. Since modern jeepneys can accommodate more passengers, drivers may make more money. This, in turn, can lift many families out of poverty. alternate financing options and offering training courses. The government should also keep funding the regulatory frameworks and infrastructure required to enable the smooth integration of updated jeepneys into the transportation network. At the heart of the Jeepney’s history lies the struggle for

Balancing Transportation Progress and Tradition

The modernization of jeepneys is still in doubt. Although the government is working to enhance the transportation system, a thorough and inclusive strategy is required. To address the issues raised by operators and drivers of jeepneys, stakeholders should hold discussions. The difficulties involved in making the switch to new jeepneys might be lessened by looking into

Over the years, the jeepneys industry has become an integral part of the Filipino culture, reflecting not only the transportation need but also the

socio-economic dynamics of the country. In conclusion, the modernization of jeepneys marks a pivotal moment in the Philippines’ history of public transportation. It brings with it benefits like increased safety, environmental sustainability, and comfort for passengers,

However, the jeepney modernization program is not without its drawbacks. One of the major concerns caused by critics is the potential displacement of Jeepney drivers and operators, many of whom are small businessmen and role models for their families. The cost of replacing Jeepneys with modern vehicles is a significant financial burden for these individuals, leading to fears of bankruptcy and employment. Critics also argue that the government has not provided enough financial and technical support to jeepney drivers to help them transition to modern jeepneys. This lack of support could make it more difficult for some drivers to upgrade their jeepneys.

DAWN OF CONQUERING TREES Execution for Excellence 32 percent of the earth is green and more than 3 trillion trees occupy our planet. Air is a supply that exclusively trees can provide, this 80-foot air supply is the only thing that can keep us alive. It provides life to living’ organisms such as animals, humans, and our planet. Trees also become our supply of foods and raw materials, but too much use leads to abuse. Study shows around 350 million tons of trash are made annually and between 1 to 2 million garbage ends in the ocean. Also, several cases of illegal logging were reported last year in nearby mountains. How can we stop the problem that we also cause? Respect is a moral not only for other beings but respect for our environment. A single tree can live up to thousands of years, but a single axe can cut a tree’s being. We should help our trees for they only rely on us. By joining programs and organizations we can produce and save more trees. Supporting associations is also a key to such conflict. In every public place littering and vandalizing trees are prohibited. According to the Republic Act No. 3571, an act to prohibit the cutting, destroying,

or injuring of planted or growing trees, flowering plants, and shrubs or plants of scenic value along public roads, in plazas, parks, school premises, or any other public ground. In addition, Presidential Decree No. 825 Section 2 says any person, who shall litter or throw garbage, filth, or other waste matters in public places, such as roads, canals, esteros, or parks, shall suffer imprisonment of not less than 5 days nor more than one year or a fine of not less than P 100 nor more than P 2,000.00 or both such fine and imprisonment at the Discretion of the Court or tribunal, without prejudice to the imposition of a higher penalty under any other law or decree. Japan used silk to make paper, by beating up the fiber and putting it in the water in ukibune a pulp vat Japanese were able to make a piece of paper without any use of a tree. Bamboo, cotton, and hemp are raw materials that can construct papers. We think that by using alternative resources, the number of trees can increase and there will be a silver lining beneath the dark sky. Expect the worst but hope for the best, if high officials don’t have any interest

in

cleaning the planet then we should. The only solution to this problem is ourselves. No organizations and cleaning programs will exist if we put and segregate our trash properly. Always remember the three Rs, which is Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle. With proper input, awareness, and care for our nature, the earth will live forever. On the counterpoint, we see conflicts like this as part of life. Without unevenness, the world won’t be balanced for there’s nothing perfect. Imperfections make us who we truly are. Just like our planet, we may be perfectly rounded but a few bumps can destroy our indefectibility. Trees are vital yes, but are they irreplaceable? We benefit from them so they should benefit from us too. Alternatives, rules, and regulations, multiple solutions to a single problem. The authorities always make a difference but when will they make a change? How many more centuries do we need to suffer till we can experience a clean planet, until then, we can’t finally say that war is over. WRITTENBY LanceMonje

A lot of students have a Friday reading day called Catch-up Friday. It assesses their reading skills to be more skilled. This aims to foster reading habits among learners. Through this program, schools will allot a free day for learners to read. Lack of knowledge in Science, Mathematics, and reading can be the problem here because most students are struggling with these subjects and most of them don’t have enough skills which is the thing that we have to focus on. Learners that don’t have enough skills for this should be taught and focus more on these subjects for them to improve. It is not good for our country that most learners don’t know how to read and most of them don’t have comprehension skills. We’re sad about it since it shows that most students aren’t intelligent enough. According to the Program of International Student Assessment (PISA) results 2016, To attain at least level a proficiency in mathematics 24% students attained Level 2 or higher in reading and 131% of students attained level 2 or higher in science and still no improvement been, The Philippines is still among the countries with the lowest proficiency in reading comprehension. results. We

believe that students the Philippines should be more focused on these subjects because it in

can make the result higher on the next PISA, and so that they will not underestimate our knowledge and intelligence. Not understanding the importance of education can be the factor here because sometimes we think that we have a poor educational system. That’s why our country is not good enough for this PISA. We believe that having a good educational system can help our learners to become more intelligent and skilled about academic activity. Most students are suffering from our poor educational quality and chose to stop learning because they think that this is not important. Lack of parental guidance to the students is another reason for this, so we must pay attention to our children to enhance their skills and knowledge to see the improvement in reading and numeracy skills. Many Filipinos think that having low IQ is natural for Filipinos and thinking that it is okay for them to have a low rank in PISA since this program doesn’t benefit them. We’re sad about the results but it is not the end, so we should improve and encourage ourselves to be better, there is always room for improvement. Work hard and study more. Guidace counselor and advisers are well known to be one of the resources of help for students. The guidance counselor and most homeroom advisers doesn’t seem to be a big help to he learners, instead they bring stress, fear and anxiety to students, which leads to depression. However, this shouldn’t be the case with the guidance office and school advisers, it should never be one sided and not only one person must apologize, especially when both party are wrong. I am not saying all guidances offices and all homeroom advisers are unhelpful to students. Most stuents in the Philippines experience anxiety and fear because of guidance and how some homeroom advisers handle the students’ problem.According to th National Library of Medicine, approximately 40% of the total Philippine population is composed of Filipinos below 18 years of age experiences mental health illness. This is a huge percentage and it is alarming, one of the help resouces a student can get is from either their homeroom adviser or the guidance counselor. This kind of office should offer

to help students, especially when they are suffering from shool or personal life. The counselor should be offering services such as academic support, personal help, and counseling. Students are afraid to seek help from the counselor or from their adviser due to the fact that a lot of students experience discrimination, secrets being revealed and suffered from fear. According to Indeed, there are a lot of pros and cons of having this. Some students felt the judgement, some felt unheared, and some felt partiality. On the other hand, some students say that it is effective because they saw changes in themselves which means that it is effective. However, for me it depends on how the adviser or theguidance counselor handles the matter because the guidance office was proven to be an effective resource for students in need. Guidance counselor must know how to handle differet kinds of mental matters of students and should never be one-sided. An adviser must also respect their students and keep their personal matters

cause couples who do PDA in public just basically don’t pay respect to the people who surround them. PDA is wrong and inappropriate at school because school is a place where we learn, and it’s not a place where you can just kiss and hug your partner and show it comfortably in public without considering what other people may think and feel about this kind of situation. Some people may find Public Display of Affection (PDA) negative, uncomfortable, and inappropriate, but others may find it a natural and positive expression of love. You can experience different types of love, such as parental love, being in love, puppy love, and platonic love. “Passionate” love typically characterizes the earliest stages of a romantic relationship, and “companionate” love characterizes longer-term affection. For me, love is more than a single emotion, and different types of love consist of different positive affection, tenderness, lust, and gratitude, as well as negative emotions like jealousy, gaslighting, manipulating, and insecurity. Love is a warm feeling that you have for someone that makes you want to be with them and spend the rest of your life with them. Loving someone can amplify its intensity; we typically feel more affection for those who are affectionate to us. Affection has been linked to what we call the “love hormone,” which pushes and motivates our prosocial and especially our reproductive behavior. Humans are social beings; we need others to survive and thrive: family members for nurture and care, partners for sexual procreation, and lastly, our friends for emotional support. Affection is the main emotion that motivates us to build these relationships. I witnessed a lot of affection in public, especially at school. I basically found it uncomfortable because couples who do PDA in

The public display of affection in a classroom setting can lead to distraction and disruption of academic focus. Of course, students may become preoccupied with observing or reacting to the displays of affection, which can detract from their ability to concentrate on the lessons. Couples who are showing PDA can seek students attention, especially while having discussions, activities, and programs at school. Yes, it can emphasize your bonds and relationships in public places. Fortunately, it will help to maintain consistency, and it can also give assurance to your partner that they are valuable and important to you. It helps to build affection, which may cause bad feedback for you and your partner. “If PDA isn’t for you, you don’t need to get comfortable with engaging in it,” says McMahon. “Although if you’re in a relationship and one of you is all over it and the other is less than approving, then you may need a conversation to understand each other’s views on PDA.” I must say that it can leave a negative impression in the minds of others and has been known to damage reputations socially and professionally. One reason to keep your public displays of affection in check is to keep this from happening. Some people may feel uncomfortable witnessing intimate behavior in public, as it can intrude on their personal space or make them feel awkward. Decay in Progress Trash bins are essential for keeping our surroundings hygienic and tidy. They provide a practical and effective way to get rid of trash, making sure that is kept in check and doesn’t clog up our streets or harm the environment. Additionally, trash bins also aid in protecting the environment and natural resources. Waste may be recycled or reused when disposed properly, which lowers the demand for new raw resources. they decrease the likelihood of contamination and the growth of disease-carrying pests such as rats and flies. This is especially critical in densely populated places where public health depends on effective waste management. The first solution that may come to mind is trash segregation. We have an allotted place or bins to put our trash in common in every Brgy., but still, there are some that are too lazy to put their trash in these bins. So the brgy chairman, councilors, and even the SK leaders make the segregation and disposing more interesting.

To begin with, trash bins aid in halting the spread of illness. By providing a defined location for trash disposal,

Still, I don’t stop until I shoot it inside and it was awesome. In our school, San Jose Integrated High School, we have this policy where barely don’t have trashcans in every room. Our school implemented this kind of policy for the students to have discipline on where to put their own trash and not tolerate the unhygienic act. The question still remains; where do we put our trash? We applied the 3B’s; we put our trash in our bags or in our pockets first and then when we go home or outside the school premises, if we see a “basurahan or trashcan”, we will put our trashes.

however, after the policy was put into place, the school is much more clean, and we can see that everyone’s hygiene is improving. Because the students always keep their rubbish in their bags, our rooms are always clean. Individual writers, TV Broad, Radio Broad, Collaborative Publishing, and Online Publishing – these are the Journalism Category that student journalists could pick in which category they want. These categories may lead onto another level which is the Journalism Section that is for every aspiring journalist here in San Jose Integrated High School. It will teach them how to investigate, analyze information, write and report news stories.

However, there will be a problem when it comes to the development of this new section. Students nowadays don’t have interest in writing because they say that it’s not their passion. The reason why today’s youth have no interest in becoming a writer is because they prioritize other things whenever they have free time, rather than studying their writing skills. I can’t blame them, because we also spend our time whenever we still have our time. Also, they can’t afford the things that journalists need like cameras, laptops, etc. If many students don’t have interest in writing and investigating, how will the jour

Eyes on truth

Let the truth prevail Television Broadcasting is the distribution of audio or video content that contains the latest, biggest and hottest news of all time. Given any state, the TV-BROADCASTING industry will always try their best to deliver the news as freshly and truly as possible. It is the form or way for the audience to reach news from all over the world In every category in journalism there are weaknesses, within TV broadcasting, confidence is a must. Being in front of a camera knowing that there are hundreds, hence even thousands of people watching you. There’s so many “what if ’s” going inside of my mind. What if I pronounce a word wrong? What if I look bad in the camera? What if I stutter while reading? What if I forget what I was going to say? And so on. I still remember when I was a kid, I used to watch the news and pretend to be an anchor in front of my grandma, making up words just to look

like I was reporting. For me, the hardest part being an anchor is that you are the one facing the camera, so once you mess up no one else is going to be blamed but you, no one else is going to suffer from that embarrassment but you. I know that, it may seem very scary but it’s part of it, and you can’t change that it is called experience but not a very pleasant one The best part about being a broadcaster is that you get to experience so many challenging and yet exciting things. If your passion is really being an anchor or broadcasting in front of many people then TV broadcasting will fit you like a missing puzzle. Me being an anchor myself I develop weaknesses, but then yet again i stood up, i developed skills. Learned so many things, yes it is tiring but given any circumstances if this is what you really want instead of being tired you will be inspiredBecause you know to yourself that your life has a purpose and that is delivering the news from all around the world.

Always dream big, and don’t let anyone limit your dreams because the possibilities are endless. I, Louisa Amante from San Jose Integrated High School, part of the Campus Journalism Chronicles, Category of TV Broadcaster, tells you to stop if you want to stop. If you want to go, then go. Always put yourself first before others, because if you can even help yourself, what makes you think you can take care of others? Always put your mind to it remember you are a broadcaster, you have a duty to fulfill and that is to bring news from all over the world and people’s eyes on the truth, but whatever dream you have if you really want to do it and inspire WRITTENBY LouisaBueser

Unraveling the world of

expectations Expectation happens when you ought to do something that needs your imagination and creativity. It happens when you want to perfect one specific thing, according to your expectation. These expectations came from people who look up to one other person, maybe a parent who thinks too highly of their child or someone who envies and idolizes one other person.

Children usually push themselves into their limits just to prove themselves worthy of something, most probably, to reach their parents’ expectations. Unconsciously burning out and not letting themselves rest for at least a whole day. Spending an average of 6 hours studying, having 3 hours of sleep,

passing the time of eating or maybe not eating, making them weak and stressed. Then having a mental breakdown once tired and giving up everything that has been done. If there is one thing I can ask people right now, maybe that is “why set such a high expectation for yourself without even setting a goal for what you expect?” I encourage you to at least think first and make one step at a time... cause perfection or your expectation won’t be easy to reach without proper process. Things like that are the things you cannot get in one go, and forcing yourself to be perfect or reach that expectation in one shot will lead to stress and anxiety, leading to further mental damage. “Without fellowship, depression can creep in’’; that is the piece I always believe every time I hear the word ‘depression and anxiety’. The more we have ourselves, the more we get used to it. But one thing I always remember, is I’m not alone. Depression and anxiety is no doubt a problem. We humans, teens, and adults have no excuse nor permit to avoid this mental illness. Because we have emotions and we have feelings and that are validated. No one can dictate us, no one can schedule nor assign what we’re going to feel in different kinds of situations. The fact that we are humans, we get disappointed, unhappy and lonely. But also, the fact that we can eliminate stereotypes, not because we have limitations but because we are the solution and we are the window of hope and we are the key to this untold illness that many people experienced. This mental illness is caused by many conflicts that have been led by our surroundings. Like, family problems, academic disappointments, violence, wrong decisions, regrets, postpartum etc. And the big thing is

CLOCK IS TICKING Do I have to finish it all in time? If I don’t finish, will I lose my job? Why can’t I rest if it’s free? There are many papers and work piles on the table that need to be finished for what? to make money? Earn money but get sick because of staying awake and tired just for a task? Is it not necessary that we rest even for a short time to take care of our health and finish the work without incurring pain? Times runs endlessly like your tasks. Work is needed to support living because this is where money and opportunities come from. Why do many people resign from some jobs? Many are stressed, especially with their work. Sometimes there are students from school who can’t rest because of the pile of schoolwork. Students forget to rest because

they still have a lot to finish. The same goes for teachers. With the number of papers they are writing and filling up, they forget to eat, rest, and teach. There are people who are quick to get angry and sensitive because they can no longer control themselves due to stress, and because they do a lot, they become deaf around them. Forgetting to rest without realizing that this is bad for health and will lead to illness. Unable to attend the family reunion due to work duty, someone is knocking on the door, but I am deaf because of the thousands of jobs facing you, so you don’t open it anymore. Tiredness is the result if you don’t rest. Do you want to die facing the piles of work in front of you and behind you? Is there a shortage or too much time? Look at the clock. Find a time where you can rest. WRITTENBY RainierBaoy

every time we felt this, we always want to be alone and lonely, thinking that it will lessen your problems, through whining and crying in one sided wall. But I’m telling this to you, that being alone is one of the dangerous room you can entered in your life, that has no lock nor key. It will push you to think those impulsive thoughts of yours that can led to suicide that many people especially teenagers get hold into it. That’s why fellowship is the key, do not let yourself be alone! You have your friends! You have your family! Being alone is not the solution but the key is working together.Always pray to God as 1 Peter 5:7 said “Cast all your anxiety on him for he cares for you” You are not alone! All in all, depression and anxiety must not be felt intentionally but help and fellowship must felt continuously. Do not let yourself be alone, speak for yourself and remember when you look at the mirror, that face is the solution in this situation. Make friends that can make your company good. Again, “Without fellowship, depression can creep in”. Remember that you are human and you are not alone. WRITTENBY SamCapellan

BEING CONSUMED BY ANXIETY Anxiety, a word so atrocious experienced by people in our age and time, especially students. Having so much homeworks despite being in school for a whole day is tiring. That eventually leads to lack of sleep, as they’ve stayed up all night just to finish their responsibility. It is a sight devastating to witness as students lose themselves in the process.

Resulting in developing anxiety, on top of that because of what they see on the internet, which is mostly full of flawless individuals with no defects, people in our generation are extremely sensitive to what other people think of them and about how they appear. Which makes them feel insecure in their own skin. This causes anxiety to grow, this causes them to break gradually. Particularly bad educational experiences that remain deeply ingrained in their memories.

Fear of social interaction is a prominent example of this. It prevents people from speaking to others effectively, which affects their ability to engage in class and prevents them from doing well since they are afraid of being evaluated when making a mistake. Worrying about everyday obligations, such as homework, wears us out not just physically, but also mentally since it interferes so much with our regular activities. Thus, before anxiousness overwhelms individuals totally. Let’s be careful what we say around people since, even though it seems like a joke to you, they could take it seriously. We shouldn’t put undue pressure on others around us since that makes them unduly anxious about what could happen if they fall short of their goals. Let’s support one another and reach the summit once more. WRITTENBY FrancesCataring

We also follow the superstition and I can say that good luck really comes to us but, sometimes bad luck comes to us too. It is not just a New Year, there are fireworks you will see, loud sound of the motors, cars and horn-shaped trumpet, and there are some beliefs or superstition. Those superstitions came from the ancient people and old people like our grandmother says that we must follow it. But we must do the right thing, believe in God, and trust him. Superstition beliefs helps us promote a positive mental attitude. Based on many people, behaving in a certain superstitious way can create good luck or can bring them bad luck. Superstitions can have a soothing effect, relieving anxiety about the unknown sometimes. It also gives people a sense of control over their lives. But, superstitions have many dispirit effect on our environment. Miguel Tanfelix as Billy, Ysabel Ortega as Erika, and Epy Quizon as Louie. They have their own problems and goals in life, which are related to me, so I cried and loved this movie even more. A lot happened inside the bus while traveling; there is a storm coming, and Tonton is worried. This movie is fantasy; there is a dog that is scary, chasing and following Tonton, making Tonton cry and threatening. He cried in his bag while crying.

and map, and they reach the port, but the ship does not reach them, they try to chase it but can’t. Until someone tries to steal Tonton’s bag, Billy helps Tonton, and he beats the suspect. Billy threw Tonton’s bag pack with only ashes; the only ashes in it are his mother’s. My tears started to fall, and I cried in this part. It was here that Tonton started crying because the place where his mother’s ashes were kept was spread and opened, but they continued to help Tonton find the island they didn’t give up until news came that his aunt was looking for him at the port, they hid Tonton in the bag so he wouldn’t be seen, they have reached the island, Tonton is excited to enter the island, he looked for the fireflies but they did not appear, he ran inside, as the rain poured heavily until the scary dog chased him again, he was scared and cried, luckily his companions saw him until he woke up with his Aunt, they continued to go to the island with his aunt and finally she appeared to them, I was amazed at the Editing to make look real, he made a wish and he opened the box of his mother’s ashes and poured them on the island, I cried at that scene. He succeeded in going to the island of fireflies, and when he grew up, he made a story of his journey to the island of fireflies, starring Dindong Dantes as Big Tonton.

This 2024, there are many superstition stated. Do not wear black clothes, prevent leaving your pocket, wallet and bag empty, prevent taking a bath, cutting hair or nails, saying bad words etc. Also, put worth Php 50 pesos bill behind the cellphone and put

Firefly Do you have to be brave? or do you have to go to a firefly island to ask to be brave? one of the best movies I’ve seen entry in the last Metro Manila Film Festival that gave me sadness and realization starring Allesandra De Rossi as “Elay” and Euwenn Mikaell as “Tonton” that gave me an emotional feeling because of Allessandra De Rossi’s (Elay) tearful line for his son.

the way to the island. After Elay and Tonton made a map in a notebook, they drew and colored it. While they were by the sea, I cried at this part, as if Elay’s line and saying were letting go of his innocent son. She didn’t tell his son what was wrong with her, if he was sick, or if she was leaving the place. It happened quickly; Elay died of cancer.

The story begins with the mother Elay and Tonton, where Tonton is always bullied by his classmates. He is always bullied because he does not fight back, and he shows that he is afraid. His fear is removed when he is with his mother. Elay loves to tell stories for his son that give him courage; for Tonton, his mother’s story is alive. I cried with joy because of the bonding they showed. I imagined to myself that I am Tonton and my mother is Elay, which made me emotional. It’s really different when it relates to and affects you, as if Elay and his son Tonton are together and side by side in times of trouble. Before going to sleep, his mother always told him a story about Firefly Island. It is said that the island located in Sorsogon on Ticao Island is true. Tonton can make a wish on the island, and if they come here together, Tonton will wish that he will be brave. His mother made a map because she still had a sign on

Tonton was left behind by his aunt Linda, played by Cherry Pie Pichache. While his mother’s ashes are buried, Tonton asks his aunt Carmen if his mother’s ashes will be taken to the province where she was born, but his aunt gets angry and annoyed because of Tonton’s many questions. I cried because Tonton missed his mother. I can’t imagine myself if this happened to me. I was surprised why Tonton was at the bus terminal right away. While carrying a backpack, he didn’t have anyone with him, and it seemed like he was really alone at the bus terminal. Everywhere he looked, it seemed as if he was looking for a companion. He saw a bus going to Bicol Region, where his mother lives. He saw a man who looked like a tourist. He followed and went with the man he saw. While I was watching it, I was thinking that maybe he followed the man to have someone with him on the bus. Tonton met many other people:

They reached the bus the morning of the trip and had a fight because Billy thought that Erika had scammed the passengers. I laughed at this part of the story because the four of them were dropped off at the farm together, and the bus left them. They couldn’t think of a way, so they just walked. While they were walking, they found out that Tonton has no accompanying guardian, so they didn’t know what to do with him, but they had no choice but to help him because Tonton wanted to go to Firefly Island. They continued to travel until they reached the foot of Mt. Mayon. They looked at the map made in the notebook and saw the drawing of Magayon, so Tonton was very happy. After that, he saw the scary dog again. He chased him, and Tonton ran until Tonton was nearly hit by a car. They continued to travel until they got to Louie’s house. I was also emotional in this part; they even helped Tonton go to Firefly Island. They were in a jeep with Yayo Aguila as Carmen, Louie’s wife. Until they see Mt. Bulusan in Tonton’s notebook

This movie made me cry a lot. Any age can be him. Cinematography, lighting, camera, editing—everything is something that gave me color, and

they accompanied me on the journey. I learned from this movie to be brave all the time because not everyone you love in life is there. Learn to be independent like Tonton, who traveled alone with fear and trepidation but succeeded. This movie showed love to family and friends, and friends who will help you with all the problems you face. If I could leave a quote about the movie, it will be “Face all problems with courage, you will succeed. WRITTENBY RainierBaoy

The Advent of Robotics: Elimination or Help to Humanity Technology has gone so far as in bringing efficiency and comfortability in everyday work. Robots, whether we love them or hate them, are still a part of a very advanced future and could bring good to us. With the advancements of technology, robots are getting better at doing their job, though not exactly perfect, they are good enough for many to use. What could be the impact from this? Let us see. Household

There are times when doing chores can be a hassle, some people may even have too many chores to handle. Well, with the invention of robotic based products, those chores will be easier to handle and work on. This shows how much robots and technology overall has become a way for us to make it easy to do tasks that we normally couldn’t do fast nor easily. According to statistics, 40% of domestic tasks could be done with robot within a decade, people were asked in a researched about how interested they were for robots to help in the house hold, percentages says that 56% were very disinterested, 12% were somewhat disinterested, 8% were somewhat interested, 12% were very interested, and 12% don’t know or have no answer.

Robotics is also important in the workplace, in fact, according to statistics, 47% of all jobs have been taken over by robots. It won’t take long till almost half of all jobs have been taken over by robots in the industry and in the workplace. Variety

Machinery

There are many different variations of robots depending on the specific task it was designed to perform. These robots help in certain fields of work such as the industry, providing services, in the medical field, in domestic environments, underwater exploration, and even space exploration. They are all so important because without them, these tasks won’t be any easier for the workers working in those fields. You may wonder, what are they used for? Well for industry robots, they are designed to perform tasks such as welding, painting, assembly, and packaging. Service robots do things like cleaning, delivery, and inspection. Medical robots are used for surgeries, drug delivery, and medical imaging. Domestic robots do vacuum, lawn care, and pet care. Agriculture robots do tasks like planting, harvesting, and monitoring crops. To put it simply, these

bots do a lot of tasks that normally would take a lot of work and make them more automated and efficient. Repercussions for Robotic Discussions It is always crucial to be knowledgeable about the negatives and the positives of a certain thing and robots are no exception. Let us start off with the positives, of course it is more efficient, it’s less likely to harm someone because it performs those harmful tasks for them. It increases productivity, it is still less likely to make errors, and it saves costs. Its initial cost for deploying one and maintaining it can cost you a ton, there are also ethical concerns regarding privacy, safety, and equity, as they have the potential to create unfair outcomes. Every problem comes with a solution, that means we can be able to fix those problems when it comes to robotics. Flexible robots could be created to better adjust to changing conditions and learn from experience. Maintaining regulation, and collaboration between humans and robots could also be a solution. To sum it all up, robotics is important for the sake of many aspects of human lives, though it is not always applicable for every situation. The use of robots does not make us any less of a hardworking person because we created them and we are the ones to decide what we can and cannot do. WRITTENBY JamilaManeclang

Artificial Intelligence: A Treat or Threat

ILLUSTRATEDBY RenzoCastillo amd RhomielClaudiaItong

As the world continues to evolve into a complete tech dependent era, Artificial Intelligence or AI, continues to blossom and improve overtime. Many say that AI may become a threat to our society, but is that really the case or will AI actually be the next best thing? The Beginning of a New Era

and more. According to Gartner, 55% of the devices sold in 2020 had AIbased capabilities, and the number is expected to increase to 75% by 2022. Considering a lot of people use AI, it won’t be too long till we get to a future filled with AI. A survey by the University of Oxford revealed that only 40% of people are currently using AI in their daily lives, with the majority still unaware or skeptical about its benefits. As the younger generation grows up on technology, eventually many would be dependent on AI for a lot of things, whether this is good or bad is up to your own opinions, but the majority surely thinks that this is a bad thing.

In the early days of technology, mainly the 1950’s, though AI was not at its peak relevancy, it was something that many researchers want to touch upon, as it was a new concept at the time. The thought that machinery could be able to do things like a human could is quite revolutionary if you think about it. As of The Capability of the Cyber Mind today, AI is still being improved more than ever, especially with AI was created and trained chatbot assistants like ChatGPT for different purposes.

AI technology is trained to learn from data and perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as understanding natural language, recognizing objects and patterns, making predictions, et cetera. The specific tasks that are trained to do with modern technology depends on the specific application and the data that is used to train it. For example, in image recognition, AI is trained to identify objects in images, whereas language translation AI is trained to translate text from one language to another. There are many tasks an AI could do, mainly image and speech recognition, natural language processing, predictive analytics, autonomous driving, healthcare, cybersecurity, and customer service. There’s also different AI, some of the more famous examples are voice assistants,

Question

Some of the more positive effects of AI are improved efficiency, enhanced decision-making, improved customer service, and better healthcare. Some of the cons are job loss, bias, discrimination, privacy concerns, cyber threats, and lack of transparency. Speaking of job loss, the World Economic Forum (WOF) estimates that 12% of all jobs will be replaced with AI by 2027, with an estimated cost of 52 million jobs lost globally.

that, most of the bad things that AI may do only come from those who tend to use AI in a negative light and not for its intended purpose. To co-exist with AI without one towering over the other, we need to prioritize things such as transparency, accountability, and fairness. This includes making sure that AI systems are unbiased, transparent, and accountable. We also need to ensure that workers affected by job automation have access to training and new job opportunities, and that the benefits of AI are shared fairly. Finally, we need to ensure that AI remains safe and beneficial for society as a whole.

Redundancy

Loss of human skills

This can create economic challenges and necessitate the retraining of the workforce to adapt to the changing job landscape. One of the significant concerns is the potential of human jobs by AI-powered automation.

Over-reliance on AI systems may lead to decline on human skills and capabilities. If humans become so dependent on AI systems, they may lose critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving which are essential for innovation and adaptability. It is crucial to ensure the reliability and transparency of AI algorithms to maintain trust and prevent potential harm.

Security Risk E-Commerce platforms also leverage AI to recommend products based on our browsing and purchasing history. The AI system processes vast amounts of personal data, their risk of unauthorized access, misuse, or breaches, leading to compromised privacy for individuals and potentially enabling surveillance on an unprecedented scale. The increased use of AI in various applications, such as facial recognition, surveillance, and data analysis, raises concerns about privacy.

In conclusion: While the AI offers numerous benefits, It is essential to address the potential negative impacts through regulation, ethical consideration, and ongoing research and development. Striking a balance between harnessing the potential of AI and mitigating its risks is crucial for a responsible and beneficial integration and AI into society. WRITTENBY DaneCabrera

TRANSGENDER IN MEN AND WOMEN SPORTS Everybody loves sports all around the world, whether you are men or women, young or old, but sports are changing in a bigger path, it might be for the good or for the bad. Like how a transgender woman joins the women’s sports and a transgender man joins the men’s sports, but should we allow that? Should we let this kind of change happen? A lot will say it isn’t fair, because we all know that a biological man has advantages when it comes to female sports, from a man’s wingspan, hand size, and height it all play in sports, men’s bodies are built different from women, and no matter what we do, it isn’t the same.

Some people claim that men who receive cross-sex hormones and artificially lower their testosterone levels should be able to compete against women. But the studies have proven that these claims do not negate the performance gap between the genders. Letting women to compete against biological men strips them of their right to a fairplaying field. If sports continue down the path it’s on, I am sure that women athletes will stop competing in competitions who send transgender women up against them in some sports. It might be possible that transwomen will take over women’s

sports in the near future if this is allowed. Sports for women and sports for men should be separated. I may be implementing to create sports for transgenders so that unfairnesscan be avoided because there’s still a difference between transgenders and biologically men or women. Sports is changing, not just in a country but aroun the world, let’s give everyone a chance but let’s not allow unfairness. Women should be against women and men should be against men, and that’s what it should be. WRITTENBY AnneTolentino

AI Advances Into A Sports Commentator, Will Machines Surpass Mankind? Artificial Intelligence or AI has been a well known technology hat has been pushed to its limits in the past few years, today we will learn AI’s potential to replace humans as a sportscaster First of all, computerized commentators can feature topics with the use of the internet, a network that links to a new, artificial dimension that contains the innermost knowledge to every aspect the world has ever discovered, making it smarter compared to us humans a hundred fold, making it a better choice for expressing statements with precise accuracy and deep vocabularies. Even so, human commentators can also offer the same attributes but with lesser aspects unlike AI can bring it a wiser choice if you choose to present commentaries

formally which might soon lead to the replacement of human commentaries to machine based. However sports commentators represent action and drama, showcasing a level of emotion that AI has never attained yet, yes machines can present such flawless statements but it is not able to express joy, frown, anger nor a sense of excitement. AI has revolutionized to a point of besting the greatest masters in games and productivity, every one of them had thought that “Once AI beats the best player of chess, the game will meet its end” yet it pushed the game afar compared to what it was, I believe that AI will not replace but restore and bring sports commentaries to a WRITTENBY WarrenSantos
