Bob and Deloris Leppink Bob and Deloris Leppink of Belding celebrated their 60th anniversary on Sept. 13 with a family trip to the 1,000 Islands of New York. They were married Sept. 13, 1953, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Greenville.

Area Locals Montcalm County Lego donations Area residents are asked to donate any Legos they may have to their local libraries. Libraries are partnering with the Montcalm Area Intermediate School District to host Lego clubs in each school district in Montcalm County. The following libraries are accepting donations: Richland Township Library, Vestaburg; Tamarack District Library, Lakeview; Home Township Library, Edmore; White Pine District Library, Stanton; Carson CityCrystal Library; Spencer Township Branch of KDL; Flat River Community Library, Greenville; Timothy C. GREENVILLE — The Greenville Area Senior Citizens Center at 715 S. Baldwin St. is open for card playing at 9 a.m. on Monday and Friday. Bring a sack lunch on Monday. Lunch on Friday is a potluck; bring a dish to pass and your own table service. Meals are at noon sharp. All seniors are invited for good food and fellowship. Bingo is played at 1 p.m. on three Fridays each month and is for members only. Bingo is hosted on the first Friday by The Laurels of Kent, the second Friday by The Laurels of Carson City. The senior center board meets at 1 p.m. on the third Friday of the month. The Purls of West Michigan is a needlework group that meets at 10 a.m. every Wednesday. On Thursdays, a quilting group meets from 9 a.m. to noon, bridge lessons and play is from 1 to 4 p.m., both open to the public, and TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets from 5 to 7 p.m. New members are always encouraged to attend this support group. A Parkinson’s Support Group meets at 12:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month. It is free to all and the public is welcome. Euchre is played at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Bridge is played at 1 p.m. on Thursdays. The public is welcome. Greenville Area Senior Citizens Center is open to everyone. Memberships are available. Dues for 2013 are $15 a year. Commission on Aging Senior Center STANTON — The Montcalm County Commission on Aging Senior Center, 613 N. State St., Stanton, is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Meals are served at noon. See the Food With Friends menu below. All seniors and/or spouses of seniors 60 and older are invited for lunch and socializing. A $2 donation for the meal is appreciated but not required. Pre-registration for

meals is required a week in advance. A variety of activities are offered throughout the week, including crafts, cards, music, coffee hour, presentations and various classes. Call the Commission on Aging at (989) 831-7476 or (616) 225-7476 for a complete list of events or to reserve a meal.

The Montcalm Commission on Aging presents a six week course, “Healthy Eating for Successful Living in Older Adults” from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 3 to Nov. 7. It is an interactive course that uses the MyPyramid food guide as a framework. The course is free. To register, call (989) 831-7476.

Open to all senior citizens 60 and older. No charge, but donations of $3 per meal are accepted. Call (616) 527-5365 for reservation three days in advance. All meals served at noon. Call 1-800-6771116, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Medicare and Medicaid assistance is available in Montcalm County. For seniors who need help understanding their coverage or have questions on what that coverage means, the Michigan Medicare/ Medicaid Assistance Program (MMAP) can lend a hand. Volunteer counselors can sort out complicated problems and ensure seniors are receiving coverage that best fits their needs. Contact a local MMAP counselor at 1-800803-7174 for more information. Transportation for seniors of Montcalm County for medical purposes can be provided through the Montcalm County Commission on Aging.
