SEO the World of Half Truths and Bad Information gone Viral GlobalDigitalOnline.com - Digital Marketing and Development By: Gary S. Monroe, President
Five SEO Tricks or Treats SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Everyone has heard the term, but few understand the meaning. For those who think they have the answers, their understanding is often times built on information passed along that is out of date, out of context or given to them by someone who is out of their mind! Funny as this statement may be, unfortunately far too often people and professionals pass along information they here but do not research. It hurts to say, but it seems to be the theory behind SEO for most experts I have met, “Sounds good? Great, then pass it along…”

I do my best to pass along powerful researched and verified tips to businesses, individuals, and other professionals to help all better understand SEO and how to use it correctly. As quickly as you can move your website up the Google ladder with strong SEO Strategies, you can move it into the trash even faster when SEO is not used correctly.
POWER TIP # 1: You Can Take Your Competitions Website Traffic Legally and Cheaply: Look at your competition’s domain name, take for example doggiecentral.com (this just a random example if there is an actual doggiecentral.com, oops.) If they are your competition, you should do your best to buy every missed spelling of that name. For example, dogiecentral.com doggiecentrle.com, you should buy the domain name every way someone would possibly spell that name wrong. (NOTE, no need to buy .net, info, or .org). Then point all those wrong spelled domain names to your website. This way every time someone wants to go to doggiecentral, and they spell it wrong, (you probably have a 20% to 80% chance they do), their potential customer ends up on your website. Yes, you benefit from their advertising and their lack of creativity. I do hear from time to time, “Do you think that is fair? Or, But what if they call you and say you are stealing their clients?” What they are really saying is, “Damn, why didn’t I think of that first.” I guarantee using this simple and inexpensive tip, (spend $200 at approximately $10.00 per name), it will build your traffic. AND the traffic will be coming from people looking for what your website is selling. (Kinda cool, but don’t tell anyone you are doing this, if you do then they will try to steal your customers, and make sure you buy all the missed spellings to your website’s name too)
½ TRUTHS #2: Keep Submitting Your Websites to Search Engine’s Once a Month. Or Asking Google to Crawl Your Site to Often. Good Idea? Sounds like a lot of work to me? Look, you do need to submit your Website to Search Engines and WebDirectories this is very important, but monthly is way too much. No different with asking Google to crawl your website, asking Google to crawl your website when you make significant changes is a good thing and a must. BUT, make a small change and constantly call Google back to crawl your website because someone told you they more the crawl your site the better, and you can kiss your SEO/Ranking good-bye. Also, if you are considering developing your website into a ranked authority site, you can laugh that away too.
½ TRUTHS #3: META TAGS: (I know it sounds like something you get from eating bad seafood) Another myth is that Meta Tags increase visitors. Looking back at history, information like this might have been true five or ten years ago years ago, but current search engines do not place priority with the inclusion or absence of Meta Tags on a website. Here comes another BUT, you should add Meta Tags into your website as it does have an effect on searches just not on your ranking with Google. And whenever you are adding anything to your website including Meta Tags consider your keywords, keep all descriptions under eight words, do not keyword stuff, and write natural sounding content. You should also keep in mind; other search engines may still 14431 Ventura Blvd., # 104, Sherman Oaks, CA 91423 - 310 945-7414 www.globaldigitalonline.com info@gdoconnects.com

use Meta Tags so add them no matter what your SEO Expert says. The world is not run on Google even though Google may think so. One important thing to remember is that the search engines do use the Meta Description Tags when displaying your website in the SERPS. So, while the Meta Tags may not affect your rankings, well written Meta Tags can increase the number of searchers who visit your site. Today, this is mandatory if you want people to come to your website. SERP (Search Engine results Page) are those words that show up in a Google search under the main posting result. Your title shows up on the search page and directly below it are the words you used to explain what it is you want to say. Use the correct keywords or so you search shows up in the places you want. Or you can try to threaten people if they don’t buy your product or use your service (my suggestion is don’t do that or you can end up spending time in the grey bar saloon without the key to the grey bars). What I bolded and underlined above is a SERP. See what I mean, mucho your business offers!

½ TRUTHS #4: SEO COST TOO MUCH MONEY: If you think SEO is too expensive of an investment the I suggest you think twice and take a crash course in the SEO process. You can spend money running ads on successful sites, and tools like, Google AdWords, Banner Ads and so much more but think about this? If your website does not meet the guidelines that Google and other search engines highlight as their requirements for you to rank on the first and second pages of a search page, you are in trouble. Let me change that, Big Trouble. It is simple, if your website is currently on page 546 of a Google search, once all the money you spend on Ads comes to an end, your website will once again not be found on Google or other search engines. To me, this is nuts, if someone types in, “pet store in Los Angeles,” and you come up in the search results, you don’t need all the expensive advertising. SEO will get you to those first pages if done correctly.
POWER TIP #5: The First Page of Google Search is Not that Far Away: Lastly and most important, don’t be fooled if you are Walmart or Margie’s Kitty Korner in Nowhere Idaho you can come up on the first page or two of a search, and that is real power. Large or small you can be found, and you do not have to give up your first born to afford it. Talk to an SEO expert, give him a realistic budget and if they cannot assist you, then look for another expert. Better yet, I have an excellent idea, email me, gsmonroe@globaldigitalonline.com, and I will give you five additional questions to ask the SEO person to whom you are speaking. If they can answer them on the spot, then they are real or darn close to being real, and if not, I suggest running as an option. Here is the bottom line no if’s and’s, or but’s, “Traffic on your website will be dramatically increased by hiring an SEO professional.” Give a little time for the real results to break through but after a few months you will see a difference.
