Local people from ‘Dartford painted rocks’ on Facebook have been busy this month painting and hiding them around the town. The rocks can be exchanged at Stephen Oliver: Studio and Gallery located at the Orchards Shopping Centre .

SPORTS ROUNDUP

Team GB ended the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in fourth place on gold medal finishes and with an impressive 65 medals in total.

Great Britain’s total collection was just two medals short of its record-breaking medal performance in the last Olympics at Rio. Although overall impressive, the number of golds won was a little disappointing after a promising start that saw five first place podium finishes in the first five days, but ultimately ended with bringing home 22 gold medals, compared with 29 at London 2012.

Desperately not meaning to point any fingers, as there will be a myriad of good reasons… this year’s Olympics saw our traditional big-hitters like rowing have disappointing results, with no golds for the first time since 1980 and the weakest overall medal performance since 1972. Road and track cycling delivered five fewer medals than in both previous Games and three golds, compared with the impressive eight at London 2012. However, the overall tally is still some feat considering 25 years ago in Atlanta the team came home with just a single gold… so overall not too shabby!
