Opening Ceremony

FREE Asana (movement) for balancing the body, stretching the muscles for toning , weight bearing and de – stressing, bandhas for core strength and pranayama (breath work) to promote positive energy, meditation for calming the mind and senses. Classes taught by Neelakash.

Take a stroll through our Festival Bazaar, relax with yoga, join in the debate at Schumacher College’s Wild Ideas tent, visit the Transition Town Totnes hub and find out how localism become a global phenomena, create your own soundscape for broadcast with Soundart Radio, or call into our kids’ corner to be entertained. As Tagore himself taught, “The East and West must join hands in the pursuit of truth.” This years’ festival is a true celebration of this ideal, with thinkers and speakers from across the world coming together to question, explore and dream of a better world. Rich with world class artists and set amongst the beautiful Dartington Hall estate, we hope this unique festival inspires you as much as it has me and the fantastic team who have helped bring this all together. FREE Kalaripayattu draws inspiration from the raw power and sinuous strength of the majestic animal forms- Lion, Tiger, Elephant, Wild Boar, Snake, and Crocodile. It is today re-emerging as a source of inspiration for self-expression in dance forms, theatre, fitness, and movies.

FREE A specially created workshop cum demonstration of the new rhythmic cycles created by Tagore during his sojourn to the Dartington estate through a decadent fabric of the sitar, dilruba, indian drums and a presentation show.
