The winner of Friday’s match-up will move on to play the Orange Sunday, May 12 in the second round at 3 p.m. ▶ HOW THEY GOT HERE The Big Green earned their third straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament with an at-large bid announced Sunday night during the selection show. Boston College also qualified for the national postseason with an at-large bid. Syracuse earned the No. 4 seed overall and is in with automatic bid after winning the BIG EAST Tournament. ▶ SCOUTING THE EAGLES - The Eagles were 12-7 this season, matching their best single-season win total in program history. The 3-2 record in ACC play this season also featured the most conference wins for the team since making the move to the league in 2005. - Boston College is in the tournament for just the second time in program history. Qualifying for the 2011 postseason, BC fell to second-seeded Northwestern, 11-8, in Evanston, Ill. Four players who played in that game against the Wildcats and nine from that season’s roster are on this year’s team and will suit up against the Green on Friday. - Sophomore Covie Stanwick leads the team with 60 goals, 22 assists and 82 points this season, while classmate Mikaela Rix is second in scoring with 54 points and 46 goals. - Emily Mata has played every minute in goal this

year for the Eagles, posting a 12-7 mark. She also boasts an 11.26 goals-against average and a .347 save percentage. ▶ AGAINST BOSTON COLLEGE Friday will mark the 19th all-time meeting between the two programs and the first since May 2, 2007. In those 18 previous match-ups, Dartmouth has come out victorious each time, including a 13-9 win in that 2007 contest played in Hanover. ▶ MORE HONORS The IWLCA announced its All-Northeast Region Teams on Tuesday with three Dartmouth players earning recognition. Senior Courtney Bennett and Hana Bowers were tabbed to the first team, while classmate and fellow tri-captain Kelsey Johnson was named to the second team. All three players, plus junior Liz Calby, were also selected as members of the Ivy League All-Tournament Team for their play in Philadelphia last weekend.

▶ RECORD SETTER Bowers set a new Ivy League Tournament record for goals in a single postseason as she netted eight at Franklin Field over the two games. In addition to her eight tallies, Bowers had an assist in each outing against Princeton and Penn to post 10 total points on the weekend, tying the record set by the Quakers’ Ali DeLuca in 2010.

▶ KEEPING IT CLOSE Dartmouth has played 17 total games this season as it enters the NCAA Tournament. Of those 17 contests, eight have been decided by one goal and three have needed at least one overtime period. In those eight contests, the Green and White are an impressive 6-2. ▶ GOING OVER 100 Courtney Bennett came into her senior year with 49 draw controls in three seasons. This year, Bennett has registered 52 in 17 games and now sports the thirdbest single-season total in program history. Whitney Douthett ’07 is next up on the list with 53 in 2006, while Sarah Plumb ’12 set the Dartmouth standard last spring with 82. Bennett’s three draws Sunday at Penn now give her 101 for her career, the fourth-best total in program history. ▶ PLAYING THE BEST Dartmouth lined up across from five other teams this season that also made it to the NCAA Tournament (Maryland, Duke, Princeton, Penn and Florida). ▶ BACK IN THE DANCE… AGAIN The selection to the NCAA Tournament marked the third year in a row that the Big Green will play in the national postseason. Twice before Dartmouth has put together four straight years of tournament appearances (1998-2001 and 2003-06).

▶ A BAKER’S DOZEN In the 41-year history of the Dartmouth women’s lacrosse program, the team has qualified for the NCAA Tournament 14 times. Only once has the coach of those teams not been Amy Patton. Now in her 21st season along the Big Green sidelines, Patton has guided the program to a 10-12 record in NCAA Tournament play since she took over in 1993. ▶ WHAT A PROGRAM Dartmouth’s 14 all-time appearances in the NCAA Tournament rank as the ninth-best by any of the 26 teams in the field this season. ▶ STRONG SEASON Bowers’ 48 goals in 2013 currently rank as tied for the 10th-best single-season mark in program history, while her 63 points are ninth best. ▶ TWO OVER 50 With Calby registering seven points and Bowers 10 in Philadelphia, Dartmouth will boast two players with 50-plus points in the same season for the first time since 2007 when Douthett and Sarah Szefi finished with 62 and 57, respectively. Bowers currently leads the way with 63, while Calby has 50 on 35 goals and 15 assists. ▶ WHAT’S AHEAD? The winner of Friday’s match-up between the Big Green and Eagles will advance to the second round to play Syracuse (16-3).

▶ NCAA TOURNAMENT • MAY 10, 2013 • VS BOSTON COLLEGE ▶HEAD COACH AMY PATTON The 2013 season marks the 21st for head coach Amy Patton at Dartmouth, having led the Big Green to unprecedented success both within the Ivy League and on the national scale. With 209 career wins, 12 NCAA Tournament appearances, nine Ivy League championships and four NCAA Final Fours to her credit, Patton is one of the nation’s elite coaches. Beyond Hanover, Patton is an active part of U.S. Lacrosse, having recently served as head coach of the U.S. Women’s National Developmental team. Dartmouth has been a model of consistency under Patton, ranked in the IWLCA top-20 during every single season that she has coached and has ranked in the top-10 nationally in 18 of those, including in both 2010, 2011 and 2012. As a program, Dartmouth is one of just five teams to be ranked during every single season since the IWLCA began weekly polls in 1988. In 20 years as Dartmouth’s head coach, Patton owns a 221-103 overall record, 105-30 in Ivy League play, winning nearly 78 percent of Dartmouth’s conference games. Since her arrival in Hanover in 1993, the Big Green has reached double figures in wins 16 times and advanced past the NCAA first round seven times. Patton’s teams are no strangers to perfection, five times winning the Ivy League unbeaten, most recently in 2005. From 1997-2001, Dartmouth won 22 consecutive Ancient Eight contests, en route to threestraight 7-0 championship seasons. Dartmouth’s defense has ranked in the top-10 nationally in scoring defense seven times since 2002, including leading the nation in that category in 2006. In 2012, Patton and the Big Green finally won the Ivy League Tournament Championship, taking down top-seeded Penn, 6-4, in the title game. The Green

held the Quakers without a goal for 44 minutes to complete the comeback win two days after knocking off Cornell in a thrilling 9-8 game. In winning the crown, Dartmouth would advance to its 13th NCAA Tournament and the 12th since Patton took control of the program. Patton’s 19th season at the helm (2011) was a special one in which Dartmouth won its 11th Ivy League Championship and made its 12th NCAA Tournament appearance. Ranked as high as 10th nationally during the season, it marked a true return to glory for the Big Green, which had not won an Ivy title since 2005 and had not been to the postseason since 2006. Dartmouth also knocked off previously unbeaten No. 1 Maryland on May 1, snapping the Terps’ 28-game winning-streak and becoming the first team other than North Carolina to beat Maryland since 2008. Patton’s efforts have not gone unrewarded on a personal level. She was named the IWLCA National Coach of the Year in 1998, was one of three finalists for that honor in 1993 — her first season at the helm — and has been the Northeast Region’s Coach of the Year three times (1994, 1995, 1998). One of the most recognized names in college women’s lacrosse, Patton is a prominent member of the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). She was vice president of the IWLCA for two years. Most recently, Patton headed the Brine All-America selection committee and has served on the Tewaaraton Trophy selection committee. Patton was a U.S. Squad selector in 1993, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2006, 2007 and 2008. She was also a member of the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Committee and assistant coach for the U.S. National Developmental team in 1998-2000. Patton served as head coach of the developmental squad from 2006-09. Prior to her appointment as head coach at Dartmouth, Patton served as an assistant to former coach and athletics director Josie Harper from 1991-92. Patton served as an assistant for the University of Maryland women’s lacrosse team during the 1990 season. Patton is a 1988 graduate of the University of Maryland where she earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education. As an athlete, Patton was a four-year letterwinner in both lacrosse and field hockey, earning All-America and All-ACC accolades. She was a member of Maryland’s 1986 NCAA national championship lacrosse team and earned the Terps’ scholar-athlete award.
