Puck drop between the two ECAC Hockey and Ivy League foes is set for 7:05 p.m.

BLANKING THE BEARS The Big Green’s 6-0 win over Brown was the most lopsided shutout in the series between the two since Feb. 23, 1980 when Dartmouth defeated Brown, 7-0, in Hanover. The goalie that night for the home team? Then-junior and current head coach Bob Gaudet ’81 who had 27 saves that night, including 14 in the third period.

LAST TIME OUT The Big Green rebounded from a 4-1 defeat to Yale on Friday with a 6-0 shutout victory against Brown the following night. Five players scored goals for the home team as part of the win as they evened their overall and league marks to 2-2-1.

BITTEN BY THE BULLDOGS As part of Yale’s weekend sweep of Dartmouth and Harvard, the Bulldogs picked up a 4-1 win Friday night in Hanover. It was the first win at Thompson Arena for the Elis since a 5-4 game on Jan. 28, 2012. The Big Green defeated Yale, 7-4, at home in 2012-13 and played to a 3-3 tie last season.

SCOUTING HARVARD The Crimson were finally knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten Saturday night by archrival Yale, 2-1. Harvard will bring a 3-1-2 overall record and a 2-1-2 ECAC Hockey mark with it to Hanover for the Tuesday night meeting at Thompson Arena. Sophomore Alexander Kerfoot has a team-leading nine points on four goals and five assists. The New Jersey Devils prospect has a huge five-point night to thank for that figure as he picked up a hat trick and added two assists in the Crimson’s 6-3 upset win against then-eighth-ranked Boston College on Nov. 11. Jimmy Vesey leads the Crimson with five goals, while Kyle Criscuolo’s six assists are good for the most among all Crimson players. In goal, Steve Michalek has been extremely strong to start his senior campaign, posting a 1.79 goals against average and a .941 save percentage. AGAINST THE CRIMSON These two teams met just over two weeks ago in the season opener for both. Dartmouth and Harvard played to a 3-3 tie through 65 minutes of action in the first game at the recently renovated Bright-Landry Hockey Center. Rick Pinkston, Brandon McNally and Eric Robinson had goals for the visitors, while Patrick McNally scored twice and Kerfoot had the home team’s other tally in the draw. Junior James Kruger turned aside a career-high 34 saves in the draw.

BIG GREEN

// SCHEDULE //

A FIRST FOR JIMMY James Kruger earned the first shutout of his collegiate career Saturday against Brown. The 6-foot-3 netminder from Minnetonka, Minnesota, stopped all 23 shots he faced in the game, notching Dartmouth’s first shutout of the year and the first since Charles Grant blanked Cornell, 1-0, last February. In five starts this season, Kruger has put together a 2.34 goalsagainst average and a .920 save percentage.

BIRTHDAY BOY A night after being a scratch, sophomore Grant Opperman returned to the lineup against the Bears with some motivation. Celebrating his 21st birthday on Saturday, Opperman set career highs in goals (2), assists (2) and points (4) in the game, factoring into the final four goals of the night. HE CAN DISH IT OUT Eric Neiley became the first Dartmouth player with four assists in a game since Matt Reber ’11 on Jan. 8, 2010 in a 9-4 win against Brown. Neiley had helpers on both of Opperman’s goals as well as tallies by Jack Barre and Eric Robinson. Overall, the elder of the two Neiley brothers on this year’s roster became just the 90th player in the program’s 109-year history to have at least four assists in a game and just the sixth since the turn of the century.

FOUR-POINT NIGHTS Dartmouth and Union are the only two ECAC Hockey teams this season to have two players with four-point games. The Dutchmen’s Jeff Taylor (1-3-4) and Daniel Ciampini (3-2-5) also accomplished the feat Saturday night in their 6-1 win at Princeton. THIRD TIME’S A CHARM Eric Robinson picked up his team-leading third multi-point game of 2014-15 in the win against Brown. The two points came via a goal and an assist and were separated by just 11 seconds in the third period. Robinson notched his third goal of the year at 11:31 and then collected his third assist of the season at 11:42 on Opperman’s second of the game. WELCOME BACK Junior defenseman Ryan Bullock made his first appearance in the Big Green lineup this season Saturday versus the Bears, making an immediate impact. Bullock scored on the power play at the 12:57 mark of the first period for his first point of the season. The game was the 50th

of his career wearing a Dartmouth sweater and came after Bullock missed the final 11 contests of last season with an injury. The Minnesota native’s last game played prior to Saturday was Feb. 7 at Harvard. SCHIERHORN’S SCORING KNACK After earning the top spot on NCAA.com’s Plays of the Week for his last-minute tying goal at Union, junior Brad Schierhorn wasted little time on Saturday putting the eventual game winner on the board. Schierhorn’s wrister from the top of the circles, high in the slot at 7:25 of the first stood as the GWG as Kruger blanked the opposition at the other end. BEAMER’S STREAK Jesse Beamish picked up an assist Friday night against Yale on Charlie Mosey’s second-period goal. The helper pushed Beamish’ point streak to three games (1-3-4), the longest run with a point for the Ontario native since March 2013 against Princeton, Quinnipiac and Harvard (1-2-3). BARRE’S FIRST Jack Barre picked up his first of the season and just the second goal of his career Saturday night. Barre’s marker came on the power play at 11:18 of the second period after a nice passing sequence by Pinkston, Opperman and Neiley along the boards. His last goal came in the 2013-14 season opener against Princeton on Oct. 25 in a game played at the Prudential Center in Newark.

GAME 6 // HARVARD // NOV. 18, 2014 // GAME NOTES // HOW MANY SHOTS?!? Dartmouth put 48 shots on goal in the 6-0 victory Saturday night, the most since Feb. 1 of last season when the Green put 48 on goal in a 5-3 win at home against Princeton. In all, Dartmouth attempted 92 shots in the game with the Bears. SIX SINCE Dartmouth had two games of at least six goals in 2013-14. The first was an 8-8 tie with Northeastern on Dec. 30 at home as part of the Ledyard Classic. The other was a 6-1 victory at Clarkson on Feb. 15. TO TWO It took until the 10th game last season for the Big Green to earn their second win of the year. Following an 0-8 start to the campaign, Dartmouth defeated Harvard, 2-1, at home on Nov. 30 and Yale, 4-1, in New Haven on Dec. 6 in the subsequent games. FOLLOW ALONG Fans can follow all the action Tuesday with live stats on DartmouthSports.com. Live high definition video streams of all Big Green home games this season will be broadcast on the Ivy League Digital Network. Chris Garrett will have the call of the game on 99Rock: 99.3 FM WFRD. For live in-game updates, fans are encouraged to follow the team’s official twitter account: @Dartmouth_MIH. WHAT’S AHEAD? The Big Green will be off this weekend for exams, but return to the ice for home games against American International on Saturday, Nov. 29 and No. 3 Boston University on Sunday, Nov. 30. Both games are scheduled for 4 p.m. puck drops and will mark the Big Green’s annual toy drive for the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD).

EPIC COMEBACK Trailing 3-0 to the eighth-ranked team in the nation and defending national champion, the Big Green pulled off an amazing 4-3 come-frombehind overtime win Friday night at Union’s Messa Rink. Eric Robinson, Tyler Sikura and Brad Schierhorn scored in regulation and Tim O’Brien potted the winner 3:22 into the extra session to cap the comeback. Schierhorn’s goal to tie things up came with 49.9 seconds remaining in regulation. DOWN IN THE THIRD Prior to Game 3 of last year’s ECAC Hockey Quarterfinal victory against RPI, the Big Green had not won a game when trailing entering the third period in nearly 26 months. That night in Troy, they erased a 4-2 deficit after 40 minutes to win 5-4 and move on to the next round of the postseason. Dartmouth managed to duplicate the feat just 20 minutes down the road this weekend against the Dutchmen by turning a 3-1 game entering the third period into the 4-3 overtime win in just the second game of the season.

@DARTMOUTH_MIH IN 140 CHARACTERS OR LESS... James Kruger picked up his first career shutout by stopping all 23 shots against Brown

Grant Opperman set new career highs in goals (2), assists (2) and points (4) on his 21st birthday The Big Green attempted 92 total shots against Brown with 48 making their way on goal. Eric Neiley became the first Dartmouth player in 5 seasons to notch four assists in a game (Matt Reber also vs. Brown // Jan. 2010)

// THIS WEEK IN ECAC // TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 18 Harvard at Dartmouth Rensselaer at Connecticut

FIVE WITH TWO Against Union, Dartmouth’s veteran players put together a solid offensive effort as five Big Green players registered two points in the win. Sikura (1-1—2), Robinson (1-1—2), Schierhorn (1-1—2), Beamish (0-2—2) and Brett Patterson (0-2—2) all had a pair of points in the comeback. The lone Dartmouth player to get on the scoresheet without multiple points was O’Brien, who scored the winning goal.

BOB GAUDET ’81

GAME 6 // HARVARD // NOV. 18, 2014

//KOENIG FAMILY HEAD COACH OF MEN’S HOCKEY

//18th SEASON AT DARTMOUTH //27th YEAR AS HEAD COACH // BIO //

Entering his 18th season as head coach of the Dartmouth men’s ice hockey program in 201415, Bob Gaudet has firmly established himself in the lore of this century-old program. A 1981 Dartmouth graduate and four-year member of the varsity hockey team, Gaudet has made the Big Green one of the most consistent teams in both ECAC Hockey and the Ivy League during his time behind the bench. In the last several seasons, Gaudet has reached several key milestones, earning his 200th win behind the Big Green bench in 2010-11 and eclipsing the 300-career win mark in the first game of 2011-12. Most recently, Gaudet reached 800 career games coached, doing so in a 1-1 tie at Vermont. In 26 seasons as a head coach, including the last 17 at Dartmouth, Gaudet has worked with and developed some of the nation’s top talents. Eight former Dartmouth players suited up for NHL teams in 2010-11 alone and 10 total in that time. Several more former student-athletes also played in other professional leagues in the last two years, including the KHL, AHL, ECHL and the CHL. Entering the 2014-15 season, Gaudet ranks second all-time at Dartmouth with 244 wins, trailing only Big Green legend Eddie Jeremiah ’30, who racked up 308 victories in 26 seasons with the program. After nine successful seasons behind the Brown University bench from 1988-97, Gaudet returned to Hanover for the 1997-98 campaign. At Dartmouth, Gaudet guided the Big Green to seven straight winning seasons from 2000-01 to 2006-07 and had 20-win seasons in 2002-03 and 2004-05. The 20-13-2 record in 2004-05 marked the team’s fifth consecutive campaign above .500, the first time that had happened in school history. Gaudet has also led the Big Green to seven straight home playoff series, and in 2001, the program made its first trip to the ECAC semifinals in 20 years. He earned his 200th career win against St. Lawrence on Feb. 11, 2005 and has a Dartmouth record of 244-24663 (entering 2013-14). The Big Green has won two titles under Gaudet. In 2007, Dartmouth captured a share of its first Ivy title since Gaudet was in net in 1980. The 2005-06 season gave Dartmouth its first-ever ECACHL title. Gaudet was also named ECAC Hockey’s Coach of the Year, making him the second coach to earn the award with two separate teams. He was also a finalist for the

Division I Coach of the Year award. Gaudet has now had two Ivy League Players of the Year, Mike Ouellette earned the honor in 2005-06 while David Jones was given the title in 2006-07. Jones was also an All-America, giving Gaudet four back-to-back players to earn that distinction. Gaudet took over Brown’s coaching reins in 1988 and immediately went about transforming the Bears from a perennial cellar-dweller into one of the ECAC’s top programs. Since his return in 1997, Gaudet began the same process at Dartmouth. The Big Green finished 11th his first two years, eighth in 2000, fifth in ‘01, third in ‘05 and was tied for first in 2006-07. During Gaudet’s time at Brown, the Bears were crowned Ivy League champion twice (1991 and 1995) and, in 1993, made the school’s first NCAA appearance since 1976. In both 1993 and 1995, he was a finalist for Division I Coach of the Year. He was named ECAC Coach of the Year in 1995 after leading Brown to a second-place finish in the league. Gaudet became head coach of the Bears in 1988 following a five-year tenure as an assistant coach with the Big Green. Gaudet graduated in 1981 with a degree in visual arts after four productive seasons for the Big Green hockey team. In 1979 and 1980, Gaudet led the team to Ivy League titles and appearances in the NCAA Frozen Four. As a senior, he served as co-captain and was a recipient of the Philip D. McInnis Award for spirit, loyalty and dedication to Dartmouth ice hockey. He was First Team All-Ivy in 1978-79 and 1979-80, and was a two-time recipient of the Canterbury Society Award for the best Ivy League goalie. Following graduation, Gaudet signed a freeagent contract with the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League. Gaudet and his wife Lynne, also a 1981 Dartmouth graduate, reside in Etna, N.H., and have three children: sons Joe and Jim and daughter Kelly. Eldest son Joe graduated from Dartmouth in 2010, while Jim earned his degree from the College in 2012. Both Joe and Jim played four seasons with the Big Green with each serving as an alternate captain in their final seasons with the team. Like her father, Kelly was a goaltender as well as co-captain of the girl’s ice hockey teamwhile at Hanover High School. Kelly began at Dartmouth in 2013-14.
