Your subjects English (4 lessons per week)
Your lessons will be based around 3 key texts and you will get the opportunity to work on some creative tasks based around these and their main characters. We grow talented writers in lessons and will support you to become creative writers.
Maths (4 lessons per week)
You will study a range of mathematical topics including graphs, algebra, sequences and angles. We will grow your love of Maths both in and out of lessons and there is a 'Mathletes' club where we compete against other schools.
Science (3 lessons per week)
You will cover topics in physics, chemistry and biology including organisms, reactions and forces, which will include a range of experiments. You will have opportunities to participate in a range of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) activities both in and out of lessons.

Your subjects MFL (2 lessons per week)
At Darton Academy the languages you will study are either French or Spanish. You will learn how to give information (spoken and written) about yourself, your family, your pets and your hobbies and more. Look out for MFL club where you can practice speaking in a different language and grow your confidence.
Geography (2 lessons per week)
You will learn about human and physical Geography at different scales. Extreme environments, beautiful Brazil, Africa and Rivers. As well as learning in the classroom there are opportunities to take part in field trips. The Earth club focusses on the wider study of geography and this runs weekly.
History (2 lessons per week)
You will study a range of periods from History, focusing initially on the ancient and medieval world, including the Greeks, Romans and Saxons. You can also explore your favourite history topics further in History Club!

IT (1 lesson per week)
Your subjects
You will learn about how to stay safe when using ICT and on-line, develop skills for using different software and a greater understanding of computers. There is also a computing club where you will learn lots of new skills and applications.
RE (1 lesson per week)
This subject will teach you about different religions and in Year 7 we focus on Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam. This will help you have a better understanding of people from different faiths and cultures.
Art (1 lesson per week)
You will learn about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms. You will develop skills and techniques in drawing, painting, printmaking, photography and sculpture and also how to evaluate and analyse creative works.
Drama (1 lesson per week)
You will learn about drama techniques and different styles as well as creating your own pieces of theatre. ………Changing lives
Your subjects
Music (1 lesson per week)
You will learn about different genres of music and how to play a range of instruments that are used within these. You will have the opportunity to sing in choir or play in the school band.
Technology (1 lesson per week)
Your lesson will rotate between different areas: • Food: focusses on health, safety, cutting skills and about food nutrition • Design Technology: develop making skills using different tools and materials to produce a range of items.
PE (1 lesson per week)
You will participate in a wider variety of sports; Handball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Gymnastics and more. You will need your Darton Academy PE kit for these lessons. Shirt, shorts and trainers. You will have a variety of different staff on a carousel.
PE - Performance (1 lesson per week)
We also have a dance lesson as part of the PE curriculum. You will learn about performance and choreography and will also be given the opportunity to study and appreciate professional dance works. ………Changing lives
