Darwins is a leading European manufacturer of high integrity sand castings. Based in Sheffield, we have been producing castings of outstanding quality since 1774.

Valves We provide components for all types of valve ranging in size from 15mm to 1 metre, covering the most exacting pressure ratings. These include: • Gate • Globe • Check • Ball • Butterfly Casting specifications We provide components to industries with the most demanding product requirements whether that’s product shape, design, material or technical specification.

We supply our castings to precise specifications in a cast, proof-machined or finished machined state, in weights ranging from 1 to 3000 kgs.

Materials technology We use the best high quality raw materials from certified sources to produce the following grades: • Austenitic and martensitic stainless steels in all forms • Duplex and super-duplex steels • Super austenitic steels • Heat and wear-resistant steels • Carbon and low alloy steels • Hastelloy™, Inconel™ and other nickel-based alloys Facilities We offer a complete service for all stages of production, from initial concepts, drawings and design through to manufacturing, machining, testing and certification. Our processing facilities include: • An onsite pattern shop for pattern manufacture and maintenance Induction melting units: 2 tonnes, 1 tonne and 500kgs • Automated and manual moulding • Heat treatment facilities: 3 gas, 1 electric furnace, recirculating water quench tank • Fettling and welding

Quality and testing We have an exceptional reputation for the quality of our engineering and service. We manufacture to national and international specifications, including British Standard, BS, EN, DIN, ASTM and NORSOK MDS D46. We hold accreditation for our quality management system and ISO 9001 certification.

Non-destructive testing We offer a complete range of non-destructive testing services and certifications, including: • Radiographic examination • Ultrasonic examination • Liquid penetrant inspection.

• Magnetic particle inspection • Positive Material identification (PMI) • Dimensional inspection • Visual examination • Chemical analysis • Mechanical, corrosion and impact testing • Metallographic services

Certification EN10204 certification can be issued for all the above services including third-party witness requirements, such as Lloyds, DNV and TĂœV. Please contact us if you require a copy of a certificate.

Service delivery and emergency response We are highly responsive and offer short lead times. Our fast track service enables us to turn around the production of parts rapidly in special circumstances and emergencies. We do this because we know and understand the requirements of the industries that our clients operate in.
