YOUTH CULTURAL CENTER GRADUATION PROJECT / SESMESTER 10
WITH A SMALL SITE FOR THIS PROJECT AS URBAN PLANNING BEFORE, I HAVE MAXIMIZED OPEN SPACES FOR OUTDOOR ACTIVIES BY PUTTING SQUARES & YARDS ON ROOF-TOP OF THE BUILDING WHILE FUNCIONS ON GROUND FLOOR STAY ATTACHED TO THE STREET, MAKING ATTRACTIVE AND EASY ACCESS. IN THE OTHER HAND, I WANT TO CONNECT ‘HỒ CON RÙA SQUARE’ AND ‘30/4 PARK’ BY ‘YOUTH SQUARE’ ABOVE ‘PHẠM NGỌC THẠCH STREET’ THEREFORE CREATE A DYNAMIC, COLOFUL AXIS ON ‘PHẠM NGỌC THẠCH STREET’. THIS CAN BE A CITY FESTIVAL AXIS FOR ATTRACTING TRAVEL, IMPROVING LOCAL CULTURE AND GIVING NEW LIVING LIFE TO AN OLD DOWNTOWN OF HỒ CHÍ MINH CITY.
SKETCH MODELS I’VE TRIED LOTS OF SOLUTIONS - MODELS, FROM LOW-STOREY TO HIGH-RISE, WITH DIFFERENT MASSES. ALWAYS WONDERED “WHAT DOES THE SITE NEED THE BUILDING TO BE, WHAT DO YOUNG PEOPLE WANT THE BUILDING TO BE?”

WITH REQUEST: ”USE THE PROJECT BEFORE TO DESIGN A FITTING STRUCTURE SYSTEM”, WE COULD RE-DESIGN OUTSIDE FORM BUT KEEP THE SPECIFICATION OF THE BUILDING. IN THIS PROJECT, WE BUILD THE MODEL WITH BAMBOO STICKS, WOODBOARDS AND GLUE.
