Your Excellency, Ambassador George Adesola Oguntade, CFR, CON, High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the United Kingdom, Ministers and heads of sections of the mission, leaders of the NDDIS and British African Business Alliance respectively, Chief Bimbo Folayan and David Smith and members of the business community in the UK. I am unable to be here with you this evening because of the very important state matters. In spite of that I am glad to be part of this great initiative. Today is a historic day as the NDDIS gathers businessmen and women from Diaspora including investors, funders, and technology providers, among others, from Britain and Europe under one roof for the first time ever to kick-start the NDDIS business club. As this club networking is planned to run on monthly basis, I should be joining you soon in other events. I would like to express my special gratitude to the organizers of the Nigerian Diaspora Investment summit for undertaking yet another brilliant initiative, which is a follow up to their usual successful and very well-planned summits. This new initiative like the others before will serve as a platform and bridge for potential investors, sponsors and funders to discuss opportunities for investment in Nigeria as well as address issues and concerns militating against Diaspora or Foreign Direct investment in Nigeria as well as shared ideas and practises that will help strengthen collaboration between the respective businesses. I congratulate the Nigerian High Commission for partnering with this laudable initiative and for providing institutional support for the efforts of the organizers. The government of President Muhammadu Buhari where I serve as a Senior Special Assistant is a proud supporter of Diaspora and Foreign investment into Nigeria and we will continue to support you. Recently, progress has been made by Nigeria in ease of doing business. Nigeria has moved 24 steps up and I assure you President Muhammad Buhari administration will continue to make Nigeria an investment destination as well as tackling insecurity, corruption and fix our battered economy.

As many of you are already aware, I have personally supported the brilliant initiative of the NDDIS since inception and my office now officially partners with the NDDIS in her important task of supporting the Diaspora and other foreign investors as they move to invest in our country. So many projects are already earmarked for next year. The organizers will provide you with more details as new developments unfold. The NDDIS was established to help Nigerians in the Diaspora connect and set up their businesses in Nigeria and have had 4 summits since 2013 in partnership with my office while I was the Chairman of the House Committee on Diaspora and even more so now that I am Senior Special Assistant to the President on Diaspora and Foreign affairs. Our collaboration has succeeded in supporting Nigerians who have returned to set up businesses in Nigeria. The partnership is also helping in identifying potential sources of Finance, Technology and Technical Skills that could boost the promotion and stimulation of enterprise and the creation of jobs in the states and in Nigeria as a whole and also help those Diasporans who intend to return home to set up business. My office will continue to support your aim, which is to galvanize Nigerian businesses, along with international Investors to establish businesses in Nigeria by crating partnership with UK and Nigerian businesses. As you meet this evening, I wish you all fruitful discussions and successful launching.
