Slactivism in Spain I’m normally easy-going but occasionally my blood boils and the slacktivism in Spain, and indeed the world over, is something that really gets my hackles up. Let’s kick things off with Cecil the Lion (a perfect example from last year) I think the killing of Cecil the Lion was appalling. I disagree completely with animals being killed for sport. I was really upset about it and I don’t even like cats particularly! I’m more of a dog person. Within hours the entire online community knew and were appalled. Suddenly people

June is busting out all over with a vibrant range of live entertainment. Back on the circuit for the first time since last year are The Pink Cadillacs who will be holding their lively rock n roll show at The Club, Quesada on June 18th. Johnny and Danny are a dynamic team who probably have as much fun as the audiences at their shows. Also new to the area, but certainly not to the world of entertainment is Steve Delaney. Steve was in a band called The Sharp Cuts who had a cult following in Sheffield and even went on to win New Faces. Now living in Calpe, Steve has been taking the Costa by storm. With the ability to play and sing all types of music from Rock n roll to blues and modern songs, he has had the house rocking wherever he has played. A consummate entertainer, crowds go wild when he plays his guitar behind his back without losing one note. You too can be amazed on June 11th at Lo Marabu. If you haven’t tried it yet, now is the time to try Victoria’s Tea Rooms in Almoradi. With some fabulous live entertainment on and great food there is nothing not to like. The delightful Dee will be there on 24th with her gold shoe. Anyone who has seen her show will know what I am talking about. If you don’t then pop along to have superb evening. If you would like your events in this guide, they are FREE. Just email me the details to letsrockshowslive@gmail.com. To book acts please go to my new site www.jaxlawson.com or call 697501992 Love life, love music and support your venues and acts. Jax Lawson xx

Isn’t Life Wonderful In the Sun! Or Is It? We all experience those odd feelings of uncertainty, worry and insecurity and soon pull ourselves together. Yet there are those who are unable to find that strength, and this is where WE, the Samaritans in Spain, offer a friendly listening ear. As our organisation expands, we urgently need additional volunteers; people who want to give something back into the community which we are happy to live in. We are looking for English speakers, who live in or around Gran Alacant and who are prepared to either train as ‘listeners’ or who would like to become ‘friends of the Samaritans’ and help with our fund raising. Just a few hours a week, or a month, is all that we ask. Please help us by contacting our General Manager stephenrbaker@outlook.com
