Meet The Hea Family Carla and Johnny Hea have spent most of their lives in the Park Cities. Carla was born and raised in the Park Cities, and Johnny moved here in sixth grade. Both are graduates of Highland Park High School. Johnny attended University of Arkansas for college and University of North Texas for graduate school. He currently works in investment management for Ackerman Capital Management, L.P. Carla graduated from TCU and is a residential real estate agent with Dave Perry-Miller. The Heas love living in University Park because they get to see so many friends that they grew up with, as well as friends they have made since high school. Johnny has several friends from college who moved to the Park Cities area, so for the Hea family, it’s like a small town in the middle of Dallas. Like the old Cheers song, it’s “where everybody knows your name.” The Hea family is the epitome of active living. Carla enjoys running, long walks, travel and reading, while Johnny enjoys hunting, fishing and archery. Johnny has completed seven Ironman triathlons but is taking a break for now. His love for outdoor activities is shared with his daughters, Emily and Gable as well.

Emily is on the yearbook staff at McCulloch, where she won the design contest in seventh grade. You can see her design on the Park Cities’ “Conserve, Preserve Water” signs. Emily also fosters her passion for shooting on the Highland Park Competitive Target Team, where she competes in skeet, trap and sporting clays. She also enjoys running and babysitting pets and children. Gable takes voice lessons with the Cherry Hanes Music Studio and is in the choir at HPHS. In February, she was part of an honor choir that performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City. She also enjoys yoga, reading, running and babysitting. This summer, Gable, Emily and Carla will be traveling to East Asia to participate in a cultural exchange program, teaching high school students in English. The students will then travel to the United States to be hosted by families in the area so they can spend more time studying English and learn firsthand about American culture while staying in family homes. The Hea girls are very excited to participate in this program. The family has hosted students
for two summers, but this will be the first time all of them will be traveling to Asia for that portion of the program. Gable traveled to Asia last summer, so this will be her second trip. As a family, the Heas like Friday night movie night at home with Amore pizza, grilling out on Sundays, long weekends at Woodvale Fishing Club or hanging out at Curtis Park. Favorite family dinners include taco salad night, fish tacos, bacon-wrapped venison or steaks. Carla and Johnny are both involved with Park Cities Presbyterian Church, and Carla and Emily are members of National Charity League.
