Como el eco de un silencioso Big Bang, el solitario Darger lanzó una piedra hace muchos años, se descompuso en el aire y los fragmentos fueron cayendo en sucesivas partituras a través del siglo XX inspirando ensayos críticos, reportajes en los diarios y artículos en las revistas, filmes, decenas de páginas electrónicas, un centro de investigaciones en el American Folk Art y dos términos ya notorios para designar las expresiones de la periferia: outsider art y brut art.
As the echo of a silent Big Bang, solitary Darger threw a stone many years ago, it collided up in the air and the resulting fragments fell in successive scores being the inspiration alongside the 20th century for critical essays, documentaries in the media and articles in magazines, films, dozens of web pages, an institution for research at the American Folk Art and a couple of already very well-known terms to refer to peripheral expressions: outsider art and brutal art.

La marginalidad de Darger es tan extrema, que sólo existen unos pocos rastros certeros para dibujar su vida. Sin familia, con un amigo y una rutina marcada por patrones obsesivos, la suya es una historia épico-onírica desquiciada, con rasgos de claro tormento e inseguridad congénita enmascarados en una vida ascética. Desde esta reclusión voluntaria Darger daba rienda suelta a todas sus obsesiones y represiones, producto de una severísima educación cristiana en el orfanato. Esta infancia lacerante le persiguió durante toda su vida. Darger nunca dejó de ser un niño, una especie de Wakefield que abandonó Chicago para fugarse a otro planeta. El nuestro le parecía torpe, demasiado inverosímil, ficticio. Necesitaba uno monstruoso. Así, bajo la oscura influencia de sus demonios, construyó un universo desquiciado, patológico, obsesivo, tras el que descubrimos una sensibilidad que nos resulta tremendamente evocadora. Las piezas de la colección llevan a su terreno toda la poética evocada por la figura de Darger, compleja y a veces caótica, incluso contradictoria. Volúmenes asimétricos, rigor constructivo e investigación de las formas, que se resuelven en una complejidad de patronaje donde la silueta se fuerza y termina por dibujar un objeto-prenda a veces cercano a la escultura: corazas protectoras

Darger´'b4s marginal condition is so extreme that we are scarcely able to trace certain aspects of his background to figure out how miserable his childhood was. Without a family, with an only friend and a routine marked by obsessive patterns, his history is the one of an insane epic dream. With evident features of torment and congenital insecurity he lived such a life of masqueraded aesthetics. From this voluntary reclusion Darger used to free all his obsessions and repressions, product of an extremely severe Christian education at the orphanage. This painful childhood persecuted him all his life.

another planet. Our planet was for him clumsy, extremely unbelievable and fictitious. Therefore, under his demons´'b4influence, he built up an insane universe, pathological, obsessive '26 where we discover his true sensibility that comes to be utterly evocative.
Las prendas encierran el cuerpo como símbolo de la reclusión más absoluta, del aislamiento total y la construcción de un mundo propio con reglas diferentes. Algunas piezas recuerdan incluso a los atuendos utilizados todavía hoy por congregaciones religiosas que profesan creencias y prácticas muy estrictas como los Amish.
These collection garments capture this poetic trend captured by Darger´'b4s figure, complex and at times chaotic, even contradictory. Asymmetric volumes, constructive severity and the study of the shapes revolve around the complexity of these pattern models where the silhouette is forced and ends up being a garmentobject sometimes resembling a sculpture.
Por último, la androginia de la colección se inspira en los personajes que Darger dibujaba: una especie de niñas/niños con alas de mariposa, pene y cuernos de carnero, como parte de un modus operandi en el que contrastaba continuamente la belleza y el horror, lo familiar y lo inquietante: la fealdad rodeada de belleza o viceversa.
Protecting breastplates and gigantic hoods to hide oneself, straight jackets recalling his brutal isolation in mental institutions, horn-symbols representing his beastly nature developed by his sadist impulses, and a chromatic palette consciously running away from any sign of stridency to adhere to a range of austere greys and rigorous blacks portraying the severe Catholic education that Darger received, as grey as his lifeless days. These garments lock the body as a symbol of the most absolute reclusion, depicting complete isolation and the subsequent creation of a world of one´'b4s own with different rules. Some of the outfits recall those attires still worn nowadays by many religious congregations that profess very strict beliefs and practices such as the Amish. Finally, the androgyny of this collection is inspired in all those characters that Darger used to portray: a resemblance of children with butterfly wings, ram´'b4s penis and horns. All these as part of a modus operandi in which he contrasted continually
