profile education and skills
Hi, my name is David Drazil and I come from the Czech Republic. This portfolio reflects on my approach to architecture and presents my opinions, attitudes and knowledge through my projects. I am an ambitious and diligent student with versatile skillset driven by passion for architecture and computer graphics, currently enrolled in a very competitive Masters programme Architecture & Design at Aalborg University. From my Bachelor studies in Prague, I acquired a lot of technical knowledge, which helps me to design my projects into the smallest detail. I am able to clearly communicate and present thoughts either in oral or graphical way. Thanks to experience from several workshops and studies at AAU, I am sure I can excel in team-based asssignments. Moreover, I am enthusiastic and eager to learn new things and consistently push my limits.

hatlehol parish tectonic approach KEY WORDS Nordic Architecture Sacred Space Acoustics Timber Structure Detailing Group Work SEMESTER, YEAR Winter, 2014 THEME Church Complex INDIVIDUAL/GROUP Group
The aim of this design was to propose a church and community center for people of Hatlehol, region near Ă…lesund, on the western coast of Norway. Integrated Design Process was used as a main method, combining aesthetic, lighting, acoustic and structural issues at the same time. The focus was on Nordic Architecture and Tectonic approach, which lead to a contextual and all-embracing proposal. When designing a form and structure of the church, we took advantage of parametric modelling in Grasshopper to statically evaluate our design in real time. Moreover, many acoustic analysis in Pachyderm Acoustic were made to achieve desired sacred atmosphere inside of the church.

The first building that grabs your attention is dedicated for the sacred functions. The volume is divided by a glazed strip into the Chapel and the Church. The Chapel is situated in the lower part of the building with close and intense relation to the cemetery. Even in uncomfortable weather conditions, so often experienced in this part of Norway, a warm inviting gesture, emphasized by natural materials on the facade, encourages the visitor to experience the complex and enjoy a safe shelter, while allowing a peaceful and ascending contemplation.

computer graphics my passion
I am passionate about graphic presentation of thoughts, principles, architecture, anything... About the process of putting things on paper, about how we express ourselves in a graphic way. Of course, we can talk specifically about graphic design, typography, illustrations, matte-painting, architectural visualizations etc... But all in all, I feel it in the same way. It is about getting our attention, giving information, telling a story... And that´s it..! That´s what makes it interesting and that´s exactly what drives my passion.
