L’AINE is in the business of making your business distinct. We take pride in our ability to perfect the most important part of what you do.
Dr. Mrs. Ellen

Hello friend,

Yes, you reading this. We would very much like to know you. We are L’AINE . On paper, we can be described in a way similar to most businesses like ours: a “multifaceted, human resource centric establishment.” And although we are indeed that kind of establishment, our commitment goes beyond our technical definition.

Because when the mics and cameras are off and the ties are loosened, we are a lot more. We are at heart, a people company.

L’AINE is in the business of making your business more distinct. We take pride in our ability to perfect the most important part of what you do.

The human element.

We go the extra mile to find, build and improve talent, connection and communications in our house as well as in yours.

We pride ourselves as being one of the leading names in the fine art of being human and effectively connecting all people to one other. Our craft is simply “being human to other humans” and bringing a sincerely personal touch to everything we come in contact with, and we do it in the most efficient way imaginable.

In addition to our HR prowess, we also curate and publish the HR focused magazine, “HR FOCUS”, a quarterly literary work brimming with pages full of ideas about better ways to relate on the business front.

Beyond our day to day living, we have also set up a foundation, which encourages DIY business models to help you start, build and grow your own business ideas since we strongly believe entrepreneurship is the soul of the modern business landscape. We are eager to meet and work with you. You can count on us for timely top-notch work that pays the closest attention to detail while being incredible with the times. As the self-styled people company, we will always be a smile and a handshake away.

You can learn more about us, the magazine, and our foundation at www.laineservices.com.

In either approach, we elicit authentic feedback, which informs our trainers and consultants in delivering customized, high impact training content that improves individual and business performance.

Post-Training Evaluation

Our constant quest to enhance our service delivery means we more than welcome feedback from our participants and clients. Such feedback is sought for after each training session and after a time period from engagements with supervisors (Usually within a period of 6 months).

Training Superheroes

In-House (Tailored) Seminars

It’s no secret that all organisations and their staff differ from one another in terms of how they are run and what they need. So naturally, there are a myriad of ways to take care of their needs depending on how they operate and what results we hope to achieve.

With this in mind, we offer effective training sessions, either on the premises of the business at hand or at any alternative location preferred. Simply speak to us and we will create a training regimen just the way you want it and in the perfect way to address your needs.

Public Seminars

Should your needs be a little less demanding as far as number of staff to be trained, we also hold occasional public seminars in our conference rooms where multiple applicants from separate companies can be trained at the same time.

These seminars are one of our many ways to aid in skill and team-building for individuals, as well as for members of your staff. We provide the necessary guidance and flexibility to meet each individual’s training requirements at just the right time with the right ambiance.

Our Services

Production of locally relevant Management Training Videos

One of the strongest tools in any management trainer’s arsenal is definitely their management videos. Unfortunately, most of the sample management training videos available in Ghana feature predominantly foreign casts and ideologies.

“Shifting Paradigms in Modern Day Management”

It is, or at least should be, common knowledge to all management that all our views and ideas are inevitably shaped by whatever the present zeitgeist is. This film tackles that matter in a fresh way, by giving an onscreen portrayal of how we can get caught in a rut by sticking to habits when we would be better off experimenting with new ideas. It pushes the idea that simply replacing phrases like “that is impossible!” with “that is interesting” or eschewing “this isn’t how we do things around here!” for “Let’s try it and see how it goes” in our minds, we are already halfway there to creating a progressive and exciting ways of thinking and being, and that the only way to keep up with paradigm shifts is to be the ones that shift the paradigm to begin with.

“We love our Customers”

Have you ever stopped to look at your company from the customers perspective?

“We Love Our Customers” shows various scenarios we can identify with, continually challenging us to change our attitude to our customers from “We Are Doing Our Customers a Favour” to “We Love Our Customers.”

“Competing through Professional Calls”

Most corporate training is limited to receptionists and secretaries, forgetting that all members of staff may at some point have to stand in for the company and as such require professional telephone etiquette to ensure that all enquiries are met quickly and efficiently. “Competing through Professional Calls” highlights the many ways a company can frustrate a customer out of their business simply by displaying poor phone answering skills, and how everyone, from senior to support staff, should all be equally skilled and ready anytime the phone rings.

“How Customer Friendly We Are”

Airlines as an industry are collectively aware of how their competitive field requires them to improve greatly on their human interfacing. As such the film, “How Customer Friendly We Are,” focuses strongly on specific service areas that most customers of the airline industry always have an issue with.

20
As such, we have identified the need for local context on the management training forefront in Ghana, where quintessential Ghanaian workplace and attitudes are portrayed and addressed in order to find the most effective way of improving, maintaining or correcting behaviour when necessary. This has led us to the creation and production of eight (8) management training videos.

“Preparing for Retirement”

Far from being magical time filled with free time, relaxation and family, retirement is no longer regarded as the life on easy street it was meant to be. Pensioners are frequently faced with stress, illness and a general sense of uncertainty during their golden years, all these problems can easily be remedied with effective planning. This picture features Dr. Araba Sefa Dedeh speaking on how to navigate the stresses of retirement planning.

“The Telephone and Customer Service”

The invention of the telephone meant everyone was automatically at the frontline of customer service. This meant the customer was now open to potentially more voices which could sell the company better, but unfortunately, this also opens up the possibility that they can speak to a certain section of the staff that aren’t as skilled with customer service, senior management. This film explores the need for senior staff to improve on their customer service skills on the telephone as they are the final frontier and an unexplored front on interfacing with customers.

“The Labour Law Simplified”

Most management in all industries have had to at one point or another dance on the lines of what falls under fair labour practise and what falls outside of it: quite a number of people have either not studied the Labour Law at all or extensively. This film was crafted to address the hard questions in as comprehensible a way as possible. The film is presented by Opanin Obeng Fosu, a Labour Consultant, who walks us through the murky matters in as simple a manner as possible.

“Outplacement—Stress Management”

Being let go from one’s job can be a very stressful experience, even more so when it happens out of the blue. Be it from downsizing, creative differences, or simply not having your contract renewed, the ensuing stress has been known to be severe enough to even result in the loss of life in some extreme cases.

With this in mind, Dr. Araba Sefa Dedeh walks us through how to manage the stressful times ahead once one loses their situation.

We feel out the pulse of your establishment as a whole, offering free diagnostics on what may be keeping it from working at its full potential before prescribing multiple scenarios so that companies can more accurately “get better” and live up to their full potential.

This can sometimes mean restructuring, doing job evaluations, re-defining job descriptions, or simply providing training modules with which to better streamline productivity-related ills. The packages we provide can be tailored to your budget, needed content & time.

a) We review the profile of your organization

b) After the review of existing structures and procedures, we identify the gaps (if any) through interviews and direct observation of your management and staff

2. Next, we create a work plan of strategies and timelines for the required interventions

What else do we care about?

The very fabric of our field requires a deep level of compassion for society and the world we see around us. This leads to us investing a great deal of time, thought and resources into socially conscious endeavours.

How do we do this?

All of this is made possible via our Skills Development Centre, where we help our less fortunate applicants to perfect vocational skills after which we find them gainful employment.

We also coach and groom students before offering them internship at L’AINE and with our partner organizations so that they can know what it’s like to work as part of a team in an office setting. Armed with that valuable exposure, we polish them up further so they can be ready for the world of work when we find them actual job opportunities. We call this scheme the “Bridge the Gap Internship Programme”

26
Our efforts in youth mentoring, provide the basic mechanisms of the working world so that the youth can properly recognise and develop their future career goals as early in their lives as possible.

How do we work as a business?

With our mantra firmly in mind, we always make sure to be an equal opportunities body and as such make it a point to avoid all forms of discrimination on the basis of gender, race, or faith.

We do our best to train and develop employee growth and development based on merit and on skills.

Furthermore, we like to recognise the importance and contribution of every team member towards the achievement of a singular corporate goal while maintaining meaningful and sustainable opportunities and chances to develop individual careers for each person on the team.

We also take pride in how highly we value good working conditions to not only prevent accidents and injury, but to foster a conducive, inspiring, and welcoming environment for new ideas and great synergy between all employees. Our premises promote figurative, as well as literal healthy practices and so, smoking is strictly prohibited.

As a human-centric establishment, our people are our top priority: we always do our best to keep the management style of our business open, transparent and very participatory. Here, our employees are regarded as partners, not factors of production and care is taken to ensure our business practices remain ethical. All of these measures and more are taken to make sure that L’AINE not only provides companies with the best people, but is run by the best people at all points in time; leading by example every step of the way.

27
As a human-centric establishment, our people are our top priority: we always do our best to keep the management style of our business open, transparent and very participatory

We recognise and build potential by giving would-be starters the necessary training in basic skills, equipping them on their quest to build their own dreams.

28

Foundation

Outside of the above, we also have L’AINE Foundation, a registered, nonprofit NGO that strongly supports the entrepreneurial spirit. We recognise and build potential by giving wouldbe starters the necessary training in basic skills, as well as real-world business skills to better equip them on their quest to build their own dreams.

How we see the future

Our dream is to be able to help school leavers with business education to start their own businesses and also assist budding entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses to create opportunities and wealth. We also champion the mindset that there is or should always be an alternative to formal employment, which is entrepreneurship.

What We Do

We intend to highlight entrepreneurship as a viable and desirable career choice. This will hopefully lead to the upgrade of skill sets of all would-be entrepreneurs in the areas of book-keeping and business planning. In essence, we pride ourselves on our expertise in mentoring and providing general support to start-ups.

29

Programmes

Our Programmes are designed to assist in the areas of Training, Mentoring, Funding, The EntrePad program and Outreach Programmes

Training:

We organise a number of training courses monthly. Apart from the open programmes, L’AINE Foundation custom–builds training programmes for entrepreneurs to help them solve the problems in their businesses. The Foundation provides rigorous entrepreneurial training, extensive hands-on project work, and mastery of proven methodologies for managing business. The training also includes a series of lectures periodically, in which recognized entrepreneurs share their experiences and insights.

Mentoring:

Based on our ability to recognise the lonesome struggle all entrepreneurs undertake on the quest to make their dreams come to fruition and its ensuing detours, L’AINE Foundation thought it prudent to include a mentoring component to our entrepreneurship programmes. This programme is designed to provide efficient and effective guidance and support to aspiring entrepreneurs.

Funding:

The foundation also provides financial backing to entrepreneurs to help get their businesses off the ground. This funding can be made available in the form of grants, loans or even technical expertise. As much as possible, we assist entrepreneurs to regularise their businesses to make them more attractive and ready for investment. Proper registration of the business is also made compulsory for all entrants at the centre. Additionally, we assist the participants to regularise their other statutory obligations in order to attract funding from state institutions, commercial banks and savings and loans companies.

The EntrePad:

Our “EntrePad” is a unique entrepreneurial career programme designed to help students conceptualize, explore and launch new enterprises while they are still in school. This is facilitated with the thinking that during these formative years, long before they are bogged down by adult commitments such as rent, mortgages and full-time jobs, students are in the best shape to at least learn how to, if not properly execute their own start up ideas. The EntrePad is extremely accessible to students from any discipline and provides practical “just-in-time” skills training and mentoring. It has also proven wildly popular among the entrepreneurially prodigious students who would prefer to carve their own niche on the road less travelled.

30

Outreach Programmes:

Lastly, our foundation also includes an innovative community outreach programme involving entrepreneurs. This system challenges our starters to give back some of the knowledge they have acquired, thus far, to their counterparts at home and work. These lessons span from entrepreneurial activities like small business creation and management to intrinsic life skills like basic money management. One of the desired outcomes of this outreach is the ripple effect it creates, which means the more people that teach, the more people who can eventually teach; ultimately, even more people can learn, thereby creating an extraordinary network of better educated and better-informed citizens.

31
Our employees are regarded as partners, not factors of production, and care is taken to ensure our business practices remain ethical.

What are the 7 cogs that make us tick?

The Outsourcing Cog

Our Projects Department alone, at any one moment, handles the management of no less than 4,000 personnel recruited for our outsourced programme. With our outsourcing scheme as stated earlier, L’AINE employees are permanently drafted to our client companies while remaining on our payroll. We see to all their administrative and personnel affairs, as concerns their employment in order to relieve our clients of that burden.

The Payroll Cog

Our Payroll Department is the heart of our operation. Outside of simply being in charge of making sure everyone gets paid, our incarnation of the “money branch” takes pride in going a step further, making sure salaries are as often as manageable, timely and accurate. The wing also provides payroll services for other companies.

The Finance Cog

Now, here is where it gets a little tricky, closely related to the Payroll department, our finance department differs not in what it does but in who it does it for: where the payroll wing focuses on paying salaries, the finance wing manages company funds and keeps records of all transactions. The wing is also responsible for our annual financial statement and company budget.

The Recruitment Cog

The Recruitment wing is, as the name suggests, all about seeing to the job placement of job seekers and following through with the recruitment requests from companies. This is also the wing that manages and sees to the placement of staff with our outsourced client companies.

The Training Cog

The Training Department offers training solutions to all manner of clientele, be they individuals or corporate entities. Our public training programmes, as well as in-house seminars offer flexibility of choice. The department also oversees the production of management training videos produced in the Ghanaian context upon request.

The HR/Administration Cog

Being an HR based organisation, this wing is our wheelhouse. Our admin wing sees to it that the entire L’AINE team works in complete harmony. The department is also responsible for the coordination of all core staff, which includes managing performance indicators, material requisitions, purchases, business proposals, and contract agreements.

The Marketing Cog

Finally, our Marketing wing is directly responsible for everything you have and will see of our family, including this conversation. Our marketing also goes far and beyond to include branding and advertising, client services, research and development and business development.

The Branches of the L’AINE Tree

Any organisation built on the core premise of connecting people is sure to see itself outgrow its original confines. As such, we have had to expand at the same pace as the world around us, sprouting along the way, extra branches, to not only reach other people, but to learn from them and be able to keep up with their needs and their ideas.

The Adabraka Branch

Operating from the heart of the capital, L’AINE’s Adabraka office provides a myriad of companies with unique talent from a pool of well-groomed, choice professionals in the fields of Accounting, Finance, Secretarial, Human Resources, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Public Relations, IT, Domestic Assistants and practically, any other discipline you may need expertise in. The Head Office

The Kumasi Branch

With the same expertise in providing excellent outsourcing, recruitment of both professionals and nonprofessionals, and training to individuals, as well as companies, not only in Kumasi but also the Northern sector of Ghana at large, our operations do not consider the sky a limit.

The Takoradi Branch

Our last but far from the least formidable branch operates in Takoradi, consolidating and managing what businesses we already have in Takoradi by providing additional services in recruitment, training, payrolling and outsourcing.

The Tamale Agency

We have an agency office in the Northern Region that caters to the Northern sector of Ghana in terms of training and employee development.

The L’AINE Head Office is situated at Ocean View Estates, Sakumono. The head office is a consolidated whole of all services perfomed by the other branches. It seats the Chief Executive, senior management and other departments such as Outsourcing, Payroll, Internal Audit, Procurement, IT, General Services, HR and Administration, and Finance.

I go by the name L awel Joshua Kwabena, a student of Ghana Technology University C ollege studying Procurement and Logistics. D uring the long vacation, I had the privilege to work at the procurement department of L’AINE services. I must say I learnt a lot of things during the short period I was there and I didn’t leave there the same.

O ne cannot go wrong with L aine’s B ridge the G ap Internship Program!”

T he B ridge the G ap internship program also prepared other students and me to match the requirements of the corporate world better. With unfeigned assurance, I am pleased to recommend L’AINE reputable services to everyone.

BRIDGE THE GAP is a program of L’ AINE S ervices limited that is organized annually to give university students the opportunity to work with corporate organizations. T he program seeks to bridge the gap between academic work and the working world and also help them make practical use of what they are taught in their various institutions of study.

T hrough the BRIDGE THE GAP program, I have been given the opportunity to work with Millicom Ghana( T igo) now A irtel T igo in 2017 and also with L’ AINE Human R esource C onsultancy (HRC) in 2018 For the periods of my internships in both organizations, I got to learn the importance of teamwork. I also learnt to be proactive, to work with effectiveness, and speed. T he

internship program has helped me build a lot of networks with a variety of people of which I’m still in contact with regularly.

For my internship with T igo, I learnt how to sell services and how to get new client, as well as get existing customers in constant communication and engagement to find out their problems and help get their problems addressed.

For my internship with L’ AINE HRC, I learnt how interviews are conducted, what employers are looking out for from prospective job seekers and also how to structure your Curriculum V itae (CV). I can say that through the B ridge the G ap Internship program organized annually, I’ve gained a bit of working experience and also learnt a lot.

I would recommend L’AINE S ervices to organizations out there who are yet to patronize their services and not just because it gave me new skills and knowledge, but also because they know how to engage their clients and keep in touch just to know what they can do to improve their services and relationship with you. L’AINE is not only interested in your problems as an organization, but also in how you can make your organization the best it can be to your customers and your employees.
