Ben Stokes nominated for New Zealander of the Year

The hero of the ICC Cricket World cup 2019 final, Ben Stokes, has now been nominated for the New Zealander of the Year award. It is to be noted here that Stokes’ brilliant display of batting broke many a hearts in New Zealand.

However, given Ben Stokes’ New Zealand connection, he has been nominated for the award. It was Ben’s innings which helped force the match into a super over where they somehow managed to emerge as the champions by virtue of hitting more boundaries than New Zealand.

Born in New Zealand Interestingly, England’s World Cup final hero, was born in New Zealand. Many New Zealanders often talk about Stokes as their own as he was born in their country. Even Kane Williamson has also been nominated for the award.

It is to be noted here that Ben Stokes could also be awarded knighthood as the British Prime Ministerial candidates have answered in affirmation when asked if they would consider giving Ben Stokes ‘knighthood.’

Eventually, England were crowned champions on the basis of their superior boundary count.
