I

f you’ve never heard of Globe brand bicycles, we understand why. For years, we’ve been bike building, track standing, gridlock hating and generally running amuck in our individual cities and communities, but we only recently came together to create a new brand of urban-inspired bikes. Specialized knew they were over-looking one very large sector of the cycling community, and that’s where we stepped in to see what we could add — to see what inspiration we could bring to the mix. We started with some fresh ideas, a lot of different perspectives and a serious love for bikes, and in no time at

all, we found our voice in bikes like the Roll, Live, Haul, Vienna and Carmel. Bikes that speak to people just like ourselves: urban cyclists, commuters, city dwellers, progressive and sustainable thinkers and so on. To start spreading the word, we chose one cycling-centric design company and an amazing photographer, packed up our bikes and headed out for some serious breaking in of our Globes. Focusing on classic colours, smooth design lines, colour-matched components and natural materials, without excessive clutter or logos, gives you free reign to make your bike the ultimate extension of your lifestyle and personality.

The grips, saddles, pedals and other elements of your bike are harmonious, so you have a clean slate to work from. Keep your ride clean or customize it as you see fit with the provided stickers, head tube cards and spoke cards or with your own stuff. 2

BEHIND GLOBE GARRETT CHOW Began brand-building at age 12 with a self-published skate ’zine and continues to polish his skills as brand guru for Globe. Studied graphic design at Art Centre College of Design. Worked as a street artist. Collaborated with friends to create MASH SF — the first feature-length film to capture the San Francisco street track bike scene. Love bikes and bike lovers.

BEHIND GLOBE AMBER LUCAS Impervious Jones Soda lover and the best damn mechanical engineer to ever grace the bike industry. Doesn’t own a car and is proud to pack one couch and eight bicycles into her living room. Before Globe, she hand-built her own frames and taught classes in bicycle repair and photography.

BEHIND GLOBE ROBIN SANSOM Globe Brand Manager, if you have to give him a title. Promiscuous career in the bike industry, starting with teen shop rat, then manager, World Cup mechanic, industry sales, product development and design. An original career as a wildlife biologist has lent to a perspective on sustainability that helps guide and inspire urban bike design.
