L.M. Isaac Watts 60

2 But lo! the Second Adam came, The serpent’s subtle head to bruise; He cancels his malicious claim, And disappoints his devilish views; Ransoms poor prisoners with his blood, And brings the sinner back to God.

3 [To understand these things aright, This grand distinction should be known: Though all are sinners in God’s sight, There are but few so in their own. To such as these our Lord was sent; They’re only sinners who repent.]

4 [What comfort can a Saviour bring To those who never felt their woe? A sinner is a sacred thing; The Holy Ghost has made him so. New life from him we must receive, Before for sin we rightly grieve.]

5 This faithful saying let us own, Well worthy ’tis to be believed, That Christ into the world came down, That sinners might by him be saved. Sinners are high in his esteem, And sinners highly value him. JOSEPH HART 1759

Redeeming Love. Gal. 3. 13; 1 John 3. 16; Isa. 63. 9

Now begin the heavenly theme; Sing aloud in Jesus’ name; Ye who his salvation prove, Triumph in redeeming love. 2 Ye who see the Father’s grace Beaming in the Saviour’s face, As to Canaan on you move, Praise and bless redeeming love.

3 Mourning souls, dry up your tears; Banish all your guilty fears; See your guilt and curse remove, Cancelled by redeeming love.

4 [Welcome all by sin oppressed, Welcome to his sacred rest; Nothing brought him from above, Nothing but redeeming love.]

5 When his Spirit leads us home, When we to his glory come, We shall all the fulness prove Of our Lord’s redeeming love.

6 [He subdued the infernal powers, Those tremendous foes of ours; From their cursèd empire drove, Mighty in redeeming love.]

7 Hither, then, your music bring; Strike aloud each cheerful string; Join, ye saints, the hosts above; Join to praise redeeming love. J. LANGFORD NO RECORDS
